We drove for three days straight. We came to a hidden trail just off the main road. Mid way through we came upon a cabin. We all got out. Me and my mom stayed behind, while my dad went ahead and checked for carriers. When he gave us the all clear, we unpacked enough food for a few days. We started a fire and cooked soup for dinner. Once we finished, we talked for a few hours. We swapped stories about our childhoods and they talked about work. Then I stopped and looked at them. "So... Where will we go after this?" I asked. They looked at each other. "Sweetheart, we have all the time in the world now, there's no reason to rush leaving a safe place. We haven't seen a carrier for hours. Let's just get some sleep." I said goodnight and went sleep by the fire. My parents stayed awake to keep watch. I wasn't asleep long before a horrible shriek woke me up. I grabbed my gun and ran outside. I assumed my parents heard it and ran to see, they weren't at their posts. When I arrived I saw it was my parents!!! They were on top of the car. Fighting a swarm of carriers! I pulled out my pistol and began shooting the carriers. Once the swarm was taken care of I helped mom and dad back inside. We checked for scratches and bites. Me and my mom were OK. But my dad had to many bites to count. From what I knew about the story, he got them barging through the crowd of carriers trying to get to my mom. We had no other choice. We helped him into bed. I said goodbye and left him and my mom alone. I went and sat by the fire. I couldn't think of anything else to do. So, I curled up and cried. When I heard the gunshot I liked up and saw my mom running out the door. She was crying as well, I tried to catch her but she was gone, run into the woods. I went the bedroom, I saw my dad, dead. I decided there was nothing else for me to do, I ran after my mom.
