cecilia stood in front of her closet at the hotel, her hands on her hips as she surveyed her options. she had a dinner with her friends tonight, and she wanted to look her absolute best.

she pulled out several dresses and laid them out on her bed, studying each one closely. a little black dress, a floral print sundress, a bright red number - all of them looked nice, but none of them felt quite right.

with a small frustrated sigh, cecilia sank down onto the edge of her bed, still staring at the selection in front of her.

just then, there was a soft knock on the door, followed by the sound of it creaking open and lucy walking in. she looked radiant in a simple yet chic outfit, as always.

"hey," lucy greeted, leaning against cecilia's dresser. "having trouble deciding what to wear for your little boyfriend?"

cecilia grumbled, gesturing at the clothes laid out on her bed. "yeah, nothing seems to work. I want to look good, but not too over the top, you know? but nothing feels just right. and he is not my boyfriend."

lucy pushed off the dresser and came to stand next to her, appraising the choices. "hmm," she hummed, going into her drawer and picking out a black top and a black skirt. "this is cute, and its more you."

cecilia took the outfit from her friend, holding it up in front of her. "maybe," she said, hesitating. "but is it too basic? I want to stand out a bit, but without looking like I'm trying too hard."

lucy chuckled, shaking her head. "you're overthinking it. you'd look great in a potato sack."

cecilia rolled her eyes, smiling at her friend's words. "gee, thanks," she replied sarcastically. "but what do you really think?"

lucy looked at the other options, raising an eyebrow. "this is perfect i promise."

"i dont know.. this is our last night and i just wanna look amazing.." cecilia huffed

"go put it on!" lucy demanded to her best friend.

lucy grinned, pleased to see that her friend had finally put the outfit on. "you gonna look amazing," she said. "and you know that charlie at won't be able to take his eyes off you."

cecilia blushed slightly at the comment, rolling her eyes. "oh, stop it. I'm just looking to have a nice dinner with my friends, for the last time."

cecilia and lucy walked into the restaurant, greeted by the faint buzz of conversation and the scents of delicious food.

their group of friends were already seated at a large round table, chatting and laughing amongst themselves. walker, leah, charlie, aryan, evangeline, mason, and dylan all looked up as the girls approached.

"there they are!" Mason called out with a wave, his trademark smirk on his face.

cecilia smiled and waved back, taking a seat next to lucy. charlie, who was sitting opposite her, couldn't help but admire how beautiful she looked in her black top and skirt.

"you look beautiful, celia.." charlie said, his eyes lingering on her for a moment.

cecilia blushed slightly at his compliment, a small pang of something unfamiliar stirring in her chest.

"thanks," she replied, a small smile on her lips. "you don't look so bad yourself."

she scanned the table, her eyes flickering from one face to the next. everyone looked happy and relaxed, ready for a night of good food and great company.

lucy, noticing the way cecilia's eyes lingered on charlie for a moment longer than necessary, shot her a subtle, knowing smile. cecilia quickly averted her gaze, feeling her cheeks heat up. luckily, the conversation around the table started up again, and it soon dissolved into laughter and light banter.

"you know, charlie told me he wants—" walker started before charlies hand quickly covered his mouth.

the table erupted into laughter as charlie frantically tried to cut walker off, his hand clamping over walker's mouth to silence him. everyone else looked on in amusement, puzzled expressions on their faces.

"don't say another word," charlie warned, his eyes shooting daggers at his friend.

walker, clearly enjoying the attention, smirked under charlie's hand. he made a mock innocent expression.

"he totally wants you.." lucy whispered into cecilias ear, to which she playfully slapped her shoulder

"behave." she spoke.

"but you were just dying for me to tell them!" walker protested, his words coming out as a muffled murmur.

charlie let out a frustrated sigh, his hand still over his friend's mouth. the rest of the table watched the exchange with great interest, wondering what exactly charlie didn't want revealed.

cecilia looked between the two friends, her curiosity piqued. what was this secret that charlie didn't want anyone to know? and why was walker so eager to spill the beans?

"yeah, come on, man," mason chimed in, a mischievous gleam in his eye. "spill the beans. don't leave us hanging."

charlie shot him a glare, but let his hand drop from walker's mouth. walker, now free to speak, grinned smugly.

"well," walker began, drawing out the moment for dramatic effect. "our dear friend charlie had some interesting thoughts about someone here tonight..."

the table collectively leaned forward in anticipation.

cecilia felt a flutter of something in her chest at walker's words. she glanced at charlie, who was currently avoiding eye contact with everyone, a faint blush on his cheeks. suddenly, she felt like she knew where this was going.

"come on, don't keep us in suspense," dylan urged, his eyes wide with curiosity.
charlie shot a warning glare at walker, who simply shrugged in response. it was already too late - the cat was out of the bag.

"alright, alright," walker relented. "i'll give you all a hint. a name, even."

the group collectively held their breath, leaning even further forward in anticipation. cecilia's heart was suddenly racing, but she tried her best to calm the rapid thump thump thump inside her chest.

"this person has beautiful brown eyes," walker continued, his tone teasing. "a pretty smile, and an absolutely amazin—"

charlie cut him off mid-sentence by slamming his hand over walker's mouth again. this time, he looked positively panicked. walker just chuckled, unfazed.

cecilia was almost certain she knew what was coming next, but her heart still fluttered in her chest. she couldn't look away from charlie now, studying his panicked expression as he fought to silence his friend.

the girls all excused themselves from the table and headed towards the bathroom, leaving the guys behind. ss they walked, lucy fell in step beside cecilia, a knowing glint in her eyes.

"you know what's coming, don't you?" lucy asked, her voice a whisper.

cecilia nodded, a mix of anticipation and nerves swirling in her stomach. she had a feeling she knew what was going to happen, and it was making her both excited and anxious.

"ih my god," Lucy continued, her eyes wide with excitement. "do you think he'll actually say it?"

cecilia bit her lip, her mind racing with possibilities. she couldn't say for sure, but something told her that walker's hint was indeed a hint. And if charlie was this flustered about it...

leah and evangeline joined the conversation, both of them looking equally curious.

"well," leah began, her tone casual. "i bet it's someone unexpected."

evangeline smiled, nodding in agreement. "you never know with charlie. he can be pretty unpredictable."

the girls continued walking, the air between them thick with speculation and curiosity. the suspense was killing cecilia, her mind running through all the possibilities. she tried to keep her expression neutral, but lucy could sense her tension and couldn't help but smirk.

after several minutes, the girls returned to the table, taking their seats once more. the boys all looked up, their eyes skimming over each girl before they settled on cecilia. charlie's gaze lingered on her a moment longer than necessary, but he quickly looked away when she met his eyes.

cecilia had never been so untalkative until this dinner.

walker and mason exchanged a knowing glance, grinning as if they were in on some secret joke. dylan looked curious, probably dying to press for more information, but held his tongue. even aryan, usually the quietest of the group, looked intrigued.

cecilia tried to act natural, but couldn't help sneaking glances at charlie whenever she thought no one was looking.

"what took you girls so long?" mason teased, leaning back in his chair and smirked.

"oh, you know," lucy replied with a wave of her hand. "girl stuff. nothing you'd be interested in."

the guys chuckled, amused by her nonchalance. charlie fidgeted in his seat, clearly still uncomfortable.

walker, not one to miss an opportunity for mischief, decided to stoke the fire a bit. he turned to charlie and said, "so, charlie... you're awfully quiet. something on your mind, buddy?"

charlie shot him a warning glare, but said nothing. the rest of the table chuckled at walker's prodding.

walker continued, his tone light and playful. "you know, I was telling the guys about that crush you have..."

charlie's jaw tightened, his gaze darting around the table to gauge everyone's reactions. the girls all looked curious, while the guys looked amused. everyone was hanging onto walker's every word...

this time, lucy entered the fray, her tone laced with a fake innocence as she spoke. "oh, we're all very interested in this little crush of yours, charlie."

charlie shot her a look that clearly said "shut it," but it was too late. the table was buzzing with excitement and speculation.

"yeah," aryan added, smirking. "why all the secrecy? you should just tell us, get it off your chest."

charlie's eyes met cecilia's for the briefest of moments, a flash of something unreadable in his gaze. he seemed to be silently pleading for her to intervene, but she just watched everything unfold, her heart in her throat.

the group kept prodding and teasing charlie, his face turning redder by the minute. cecilia sat silently, her heart racing. she was dying to hear what he would say, but at the same time, she felt a strange sense of dread. despite the playful atmosphere of the table, there was an undercurrent of tension that could practically be felt in the air.

even as everyone was joking and bantering, there was a subtle sense of anticipation, as if everyone knew that something big was about to happen.

everyone had finished eating and all said their goodbyes to lucy and cecilia. charlie and cecilia found themselves outside the restaurant, the soft murmur of conversation from inside the building drifting out into the night air. they stood in a somewhat awkward silence, the earlier tension still lingering between them.

from inside, they could see lucy waiting impatiently by the entrance. she glanced out every so often, looking slightly concerned.

charlie broke the silence, his voice quiet in the stillness of the evening. "Hey."

cecilia turned to look at him, her heart doing a little skip in her chest. he was standing closer than she expected, a few inches between them.

"yeah?" she replied, her voice a little breathless.

he ran a hand through his hair, his eyes flickering down to his feet before meeting hers again. "can i talk to you for a moment?"

there was a subtle edge of apprehension in his voice, a hint of nervousness. cecilia nodded, her heart drumming in her chest.

he stepped away from the restaurant, into a quieter, more secluded part of the sidewalk. cecilia followed, feeling her pulse quicken with every step. they came to a stop, leaning against the wall of an adjacent building.

the street was surprisingly quiet, their silhouettes illuminated by a single streetlight.

there was a moment of silence as they both seemed to struggle for words.

charlie took a deep breath, his gaze drifting to the sidewalk.

"i, um...." he began, his voice trailing off.

her heart was almost in her throat now, her palms sweaty. hhe hadn't seen him like this before - nervous, hesitant, almost... afraid.

she waited silently, her eyes on him. he was chewing on his lip, the expression on his face a mix of anxiety and determination.

finally, he spoke, his voice low and serious. "listen, i need to tell you something. something important."

cecilia felt her breath catch in her chest. this is it. she thought, a mix of excitement and trepidation coursing through her.

"what is it?" she asked, her voice slightly shaky.

he took another deep breath, his eyes flicking up to meet hers for a brief moment before looking away again. the gesture somehow seemed more intimate, like he couldn't hold her gaze for too long.

"i just... i need you to hear me out, okay? just listen. and don't say anything until I'm done. promise me."

cecilia nodded, her heart now pounding wildly. "i promise. i'll listen."

charlie looked relieved, his shoulders seemingly relaxing a bit. he looked down at the sidewalk, gathering his thoughts for a moment before speaking.

he paused, as if collecting his thoughts, before continuing. "i don't know when it happened, or how, but... i've developed feelings for you. strong feelings. and it's driving me crazy."

each word seemed to knock the air out of her lungs, filling her chest with a mixture of disbelief and joy. she couldn't believe what she was hearing, yet deep down she'd been hoping for it all night.

before charlie could say another word, cecilia closed the gap between them, her lips capturing his in a fervent kiss. he stood frozen for a brief moment, seemingly in shock. then, after a second, he responded, his arms wrapping around her waist and pulling her closer.

the kiss was nothing like she expected - it was both gentle and urgent, soft yet hungry. it was the kind of kiss that left her breathless, her mind spinning, her heart singing a triumphant song.

as she broke the kiss, they stood together in the silence, panting a little from the intensity of the moment. charlie looked at her, his eyes wide and expressive, his lips still slightly parted.

she took a moment to catch her breath, then spoke, her voice trembling a little. "i feel the same way," she admitted, the words pouring out of her in a rush.

"lucys been on my arse about this." she laughed softly

his eyes widened further, surprise and disbelief mixing on his face. then, his expression softened into a smile, warm and genuine. "really?"

she nodded, her own smile growing. "yes, really, dont make me be all soft."

a wave of relief washed over him, his shoulders visibly relaxing. he let out a breath he'd been holding, his eyes flickering over her face. "thank god," he murmured, his voice shaky with emotion.

she gave him a slightly amused look, her heart still beating wildly. "you sound relieved," she teased, her tone light but her eyes sparkling with happiness.

"i am," he replied, grinning unabashedly now. "i was so scared I was about to ruin everything."

she chuckled. "you think a little thing like confessing your feelings is enough to scare me off? you should know me well enough by now."

they made their way through the airport, luggage in hand, talking quietly to each other. lucy couldn't help but smile as she watched cecilia. her best friend looked different now, like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

they reached their gate, just in time to begin boarding the plane.

as they waited in line, lucy leaned over to cecilia, her voice lowered. "so... are things official now? between you and charlie?"

cecilia couldn't help but grin, her eyes sparkling. "yeah," she whispered back. "I guess you could say that..."

lucy squealed softly, unable to contain her excitement. "oh my god! i knew this would happen!."

cecilia couldn't help but laugh, her heart skipping a beat as she thought of him. just a few hours ago, she had been in a state of anxiety and confusion. now, she was practically floating on air.

they boarded the plane, settling into their seats and preparing for takeoff. as the engines roared to life, lucy glanced at cecilia, her curiosity getting the better of her.

"so... what's next?" lucy asked, her tone eager. "you two gonna do the long distance thing?"

cecilia shrugged, her eyes out the window as the plane began its taxi down the runway. "i... i don't know," she admitted, her tone a little uncertain.

"we haven't really talked about it, you know? everything's all... new."

lucy seemed to sense her hesitation. "but... you both want this, right? you want it to work?"

cecilia didn't hesitate. "yes," she said quietly, her voice full of conviction. "i do. i want this to work more than anything."

lucy reached out, squeezing her arm. "then it will," she said firmly. "you two can make it work. i believe it."

and then the two girls flew on their journey back home...
