Amelia's POV:
"Fück this," I scoff, jumping a fence real quick and sprinting to find safety.
Alls I wanted was to get some nice food but I'm not in the mood to deal with a bunch of zombies right now. I can hear them angrily rattling the metal as I make my escape which only causes me to run faster.
I quickly head for a fire escape and start to climb up it. It's been about a year since South Korea ended up in an endless downward spiral ever since a virus bomb was dropped at the center of Seoul.
I remember it being my first day at a new school, but I wasn't even able to make it through the front doors before I was sent running for my life.
"Giving up that easily, huh?"
I almost lose my footing at the sudden voice above me, "Shït!"
"You scare so easily," the boy starts to laugh, annoying me even further.
"You know, I'd really appreciate if you wouldn't keep popping up out of nowhere, Idol boy," I roll my eyes at him, climbing up to his level.
"How many times have I told you not to call me that, zombie girl?" He glares at me, "my name is V. Say it with me, 'V-"
"Shut it, Q. Leave me alone," I cut him off.
I met this kid a while ago while I was in a similar situation to now. Then, I was quite naive when it came to meeting humans during an apocalypse so I was quick to befriend him. However, since then, I've learned that you can't trust anyone anymore.
"Yah! Wait up!" He calls after me. He follows behind into my small camp out room.
Guess I'm going to have to move, yet again. He never fails to find me. Like seriously, I think he has a tracker on me or something. This time I made it too easy though.
"Here," He says, handing me a bag full of food, "I already raided that place,"
"Thanks," I mumble, reluctantly taking it out of his hands.
"Where'd you actually get this from?" I ask.
"What do you mean?"
"Come on, I know there's no way you could've taken on all those walkers," I chuckle, "You're too much of a softy,"
"Really?" His eyebrows raise, lifting his gun before firing it out the window.
I quickly turn around and watch the gas station explode, the canopy falling over onto dozens of walkers. He practically just took out all of them with one shot.
I purse my lips, "lucky shot,"
"Nothing I do will ever prove that I'm right, will it?" He sighs.
"Not a thing," I nod my head in agreement while eating some chips he found.
"Well, would you believe me if I told you that a second bomb is scheduled to drop at this very location in just under 24 hours?"
I eye him, watching his expression to see if he'll add 'I'm just joking!' right after but he only stares blankly at me. Silence surrounds us as I continue to wait for his normal goofy smile to appear.
"I'm not joking," he adds into contrast to what I was hoping for.
"How would you even know that in the first place?" I furrow my eyebrows.
"The radio," He answers simply.
"I don't believe you," I shake my head, popping some more chips in my mouth.
"My friends and I are driving away tonight. I came to find you to ask if you'd come with us," He says.
Eyeing him again, I look for any sort of hint that he's lying. It doesn't seem like he's playing games though.
"Prove it to me,"
He throws a small tele talky at me, urging me to turn it on. My fingers wrap around the antenna, pulling it up and pressing a button to turn it on.
"It's just static," I furrow my eyebrows at him with an amused expression.
"Hold it up higher," he rolls his eyes as if it's obvious.
"Holding it up higher won't do shït," I laugh.
He angrily walks up to me, ripping it out of my hands and holding it up to the ceiling. Shortly after a loud beeping noise comes through the static, followed by a warning.
"To anyone in the Busan area, please exit immediately. Another bomb as been issued to drop in the main providences. This includes ****, ******, ****, and *******. Everything that can be done to stop it is underway, but for precaution, please exit the are. I repeat-*
The message continues over and over again and I simply study every word. I wish this sounded fake and he was just pranking me, but why would he go through these lengths to do so? He may like scaring me but he wouldn't go this far.
"Yah, Idol boy," I look at him, "turn it off,"
"Right," he fumbles before silencing it, "So what do you say?"
"You said in 24 hours, correct?" I confirm.
"Well... Yeah," he nods.
"Okay," I sigh, leaning back, "I'll find my own way out of this,"
"Seriously? Why don't you ever take hand outs from me?" He whines.
"I took this food from you, didn't I?" I look up at him, waving the bag of chips in the air.
"Whatever, don't come to haunt me when you end up dead," He starts for the window to the fire escape.
"I wouldn't mind it, anyway. It's a quick, painless death," I'm surprised to say this out loud, but with V my thoughts always become verbal. He's like my own personal venting source.
"Yah, why would you say that?" He turns around, actually looking a bit angry.
"What? We aren't exactly living the ideal life. Haven't you ever thought of what it would be like to just put an end to it?" I question for the sake of argument purposes. However, the thought has actually crossed my mind in the past.
"Listen to me, sooner than we think the government is going to fix this whole charade and then over a cup of ramen I'm going to tell you 'I told you so'," He points at me.
I scoff at his remark, "the government would've fixed things already if that were the case,"
He opens his mouth to combat me further out stops at a strange sound outside. His eyebrows knit together causing my own to do the same, the two of us making our way to the small metal landing outside.
"What's that sound?" I wonder aloud, looking up to the sky to where it seems to be coming from.
"We have to go," He grabs my arm, pulling me down the multiple sets of stairs to the ground.
"Woah!" I exclaim, "be a little more cautious, will you. We're still in the middle of an apocalypse!"
"Shut it, Zombie girl," He places his fingers on my lips, lifting his chin to the sky.
My eyes follow, watching an object appear from the clouds. Is that a-
"Plane!" He shouts, sprinting down the narrow allie way along with me.
"Yah! Maybe the can save us!" I shout.
"Save us? They're here to bomb us!" He shouts back.
A sudden whistling sound causes us to stop in our tracks, watching as a round item falls out of the plane, plummeting down towards the ground. Within seconds, a huge ball of fire exploded into the sky over the horizon, screams immediately sounding afterwards.
"Painless, you said?" He looks at me, seemingly unfazed.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, V?! RUN!" I scream, suddenly caring all too much about surviving for just a little longer.
We take off, turning corners every meter or so until we just continue straight on towards a large building. While doing so, more bombs drop, luckily far enough away from the two of us to leave us unharmed. It feels as if they are getting closer and closer every time I head an explosion.
"WHERE THE FÜCK ARE YOUR FRIENDS?!" I cry, nervously eyeing this one plane that continuously flies right above us.
Just as the question leaves my mouth a black van screeches to a stop at our side. V quickly guides me to the back door, flinging it open and helping me into the back. He hops in after me, shutting the door for the driver to speed off.
"Yah! What did I tell you about leaving without telling us!"
The person who shouts at V allows me to view the other people in the car with us. I peer over the back seats to see 6 other boys apart from V.
I turn to him wide eyed, "You didn't tell me that there were six of them!"
"Who is this?" The one directly in front of me asks, his wide eyes studying me with utter confusion.
"Who are you?!" I look back at him, "wait, I know you!"
"You do?" V is taken aback.
"Uhhh... no you don't," the boy hides his face quickly.
"You're the jerk who stole my jellies the other day!" I exclaim angrily, "get your äss over here!"
I lunge at him, V grabbing my arms to hold me back whispering, "this is where you act nice to get a good first impression on the people who just saved you,"
"Fück nice, this is an apocalypse!" I laugh bitterly.
"Yah, V. Get your trash mouthed friend under control so she can leave Jungkook alone. We sort of have more important things in our hands," A boy with sharp eyes and a deep voice looks back at us. His hair looks like it used to be dyed blonde, but has obviously grown out and been cut since then considering the incredibly long, dark roots.
"Yoongi Hyung, don't worry. She's actually really friendly and-" V starts only to be stopped when the two of us slam into the side of the car.
"BUCKLE UP!" The driver screeches, putting all of his force into spinning his wheel to send us in the opposite direction of an explosion.
"I'm getting carsick," One of them says, leaning over.
"Hobie Hyung, everything is going to be okay," Another says in a soft voice, rubbing his back.
"Yah, Idol boy, is this your idol family?" I chuckle, awkwardly avoiding the fact that we may be blown to bits at any point now.
"How old is this chick? She's talking informally to all of us and it's getting on my nerves," Yoongi mumbles under his breath.
"Just leave it Hyung, once we get out of this mess she'll thank us for saving her äss," One who I've not yet learned his name says from the front passenger seat.
"Think again you f-" I can't finish when the driver yanks on the wheel again.
V's head flies forward, coming inches away from slamming into the glass but I fling my hand in the way to stop it. An instant shot of pain runs through it but I ignore it by clenching my jaw.
"Thanks," V whispers.
"I think we're safe," the driver tells us.
"For now," I mutter under my breath, leaning my head against the side of the car.
