"So this is your new office" Afton looks around my new office as I'm the chief, thanks to the Volturi I got this position.

"It is" nodding my head looking around the place "Jack, this is Afton. He's a friend of mine"

Phoenix's little brother waves his hand from where he sits on my lap, I told Phoenix I could baby sit him since she's off doing something without anyone's knowledge. Demetri is with her as backup even though she says she doesn't need any. She isn't too trusting of anyone right now, not after giving birth with a bunch of vampires around and having a wolf shifter trying to lay claim to her one child.

I'm just glad, Phoenix found it in her heart to trust me enough to baby sit her little brother "Afton this is Jack, Phoenix's little brother" Looking at the time then to him "Better get going for the speech"

Afton takes Jack as I go to main entrance of the hospital where doctors have gathered, going to the staircase looking around. I notice that Derek Shepherd looking at me jealous and envious, he was the one who told the board about the previous chief's drinking problem and he expected to be the chief. But the Volturi gave a very generous donation for me to be in charge.

Clearing my throat, everyone looks at me. Chelsea is next to Afton taking Jack from him smiling at him "Hello everyone, my name is Dr. Felix Volturi. As you may have heard I am the new chief of surgery. Brief overview is this. I am from Italy, went to John's Hopkins for medical school and did my residency at General Mass. Became double board certified in trauma and general. I will be clear, I will not tolerate petty workplace differences. You will all be emailed an itinerary especially the residents and interns for when you all go out into the woods and learn to work together" people whisper about this "since the merger, there has been strife and I'm not letting that affect the patients, your ability to operate or be healers" I notice Jennings appear with Webber from my peripheral "as for why the previous chief stepped down? It's his own personal reason. Lastly, unless residents are in their fourth or fifth year they do not focus on their specialty they will go into. All attendings will give each resident a chance to prove themselves. Now get to work"

Walking down the steps going over to my friends, taking Jack from Chelsea "Hi buddy" looking over at Jennings and Webber, going into the conference room to explain to Webber his options. He isn't happy at all, he is loathing all of this "don't mind Jack, his sister is picking him up in a bit"

Jennings nods his head "Listen Richard, you basically have two options" showing him the first set of papers "you sign these, you're agreeing to an early retirement. Take an early pension, your license to practice medicine will no longer be valid. You'd walk away from this hospital effective immediately"

"Your other option" showing him the papers with the rehab pamphlet "is rehab, you go to rehab and sober up. After that, you will come back and pending board approval practice medicine at this hospital again. Though you'll need to do weekly drug tests for an entire year. Either way, you are admitting you're an alcohol"

Jennings placed the pen before him "I need" Richard shakes his head "to think about this"

"Which is why" Standing up with Jack in my arms "I suggest you take a walk, leave the hospital and think. You have three days to decide what you wanna do"

Leaving the room, a nurse walks up to me "Chief? Is now a good time?"

"What's going on?" I ask

"A delicate situation has happened" she lowly tells me "that requires your full attention" I'm silent so she continues "a patient woke up during surgery, she was on the table and was awake"

Clicking my tongue "Alright" When I find Dr. Bailey, Dr. Warren and Dr. Grey they come over talking at once "Enough!" They quiet down and let me speak "I was briefed on the situation. This happens sometimes right now I want to know why this patient woke up. Dr. Warren? You administered the anesthesia did you not?"

"I did" he places his hands on his hips "I administered the normal dose for someone her age, size and weight. She should have been out for another hour"

"Dr. Bailey?" I ask "How long was it until you finished surgery and she woke up?"

"I was going to stitch her up when she woke up" she explains

Nodding my head, looking at Meredith "Dr. Grey. You will take some blood from Mrs. Wilson and run every test Dr. Warren orders you to run to find out what the hell happened, with any luck she doesn't remember"

"And if she does?" Dr. Bailey asks

"We will cross the bridge when the time comes" looking at Dr. Warren "hold Jack for a moment will you?"

He takes Jack, Dr. Bailey and I walk into the room where the patient and her husband look our way "Hi Leslie" Dr. Bailey offers a smile while I speak "I'm Dr. Volturi, the chief of surgery here. I've come to inform you that Dr. Bailey removed all of the tumor. How do you feel"

"How I feel?" She demands "How I feel? I feel violated, betrayed, hurt-I woke up on the table. I could smell my own burning flesh, how would that feel to you? When I was lying there...while I could actually feel you butchering my insides? I couldn't move, I was awake and couldn't move and you had no idea"

She cries, walking closer to her "Mrs. Wilson, I am sorry for what happened. What happened to you in the OR is inexcusable and we are finding out what happened" taking her hand "I am sorry" She nods her head biting her lip, looking to Dr. Bailey motioning to leaving. Her husband console her as I take Jack back from Dr. Warren "Figure out what happened"

"Who" looking down at the twins as Phoenix came to the hospital with Demetri and the newborn twins "is who?"

"This one is Lauren" the hybrid child with Logan "and this is Violet" the child with that wolf shifter. They both have a small amount of black hair upon their heads, but their skin tones are different. One has light fair skin while the other has a light tan color.

"They are very quiet" Demetri tells me as Phoenix took Jack motioning to behind me "what is"

Looking over seeing Derek storm into the conference room ordering the residents "Go back to work" hearing him demand "Richard, this sitting here" Webber hasn't left the hospital. He's sitting down being quiet "this isn't good. This isn't helping things"

"I'll be back" shaking my head "make sure the twins are away, they'll start to cry if they are here"

"Enough" closing the door as the two of them are staring and glaring at one another "Dr. Shepherd, leave this room right now"

"No" he looks at Richard "I am trying to help, you got fired the minute you took your first drink! You are not ending your career to get back at me"

"ENOUGH!" They flinch back from my tone, looking my way "Dr. Shepherd you have five seconds to leave this room or you are fired. Your contract with this hospital is coming to an end and given your history I am not sure if you should continue to work here. Dr. Webber" looking at him "if you continue to remain in this room that is your choice but Dr. Shepherd will leave this room and not bother you until after your decision has been made. Now leave"

When neither of them speak or move, I open the door and people flinch back from the force. Grabbing Derek by the back of his scrub shirt, when we are at the entrance I toss him out onto the concrete. He groans and gets up "Get a cab and leave Dr. Shepherd, your surgeries for the day and tomorrow will be directed to someone else. I suggest you leave now before I call the authorities and have them remove you"

"You can't do this!" He screams running at me jumping on me, I grab him and toss him off of me.

"Derek!" His wife screams

I get on top of him and punch him repeatedly, I notice Demetri and Afton keeping people from coming any closer "Stop! Stop!" His wife screams and cries

"If you" grabbing him by his jaw pointing at finger at him as his face is swollen "dare be stupid enough to attack me again or disobey an order" only speaking for him to hear "I will ruin you"

Standing up as I leave the man, his wife runs to his side sobbing. Holding him close while people move away from me "Effective" Phoenix holds Lauren in her arms "very effective"

"Is be surprised" Demetri came over "if he can practice medicine again"

I'm in my office as Phoenix stayed, she stayed. That's what is important. Demetri has decided to take his time with her, be her friend and let her heal before making his move and try to date her.

Demetri and her stare at me "What?"

"It's weird" Phoenix looks down at Violet as she feeds her "the stories I've heard..."

The door is knocked on and opens to Dr. Nelson "Chief, I wanted to update you on Dr. Shepherd, he is unconscious and needed surgery, I am not sure if he will be able to practice medicine again"

"Alright, you may go" he leaves then

Hearing a knock, we see Mark Sloan and Owen Hunt here. They look at me "Doctors"

"Hi" Mark offers a smile "we wanted to introduce ourselves, we're the heads of our departments"

"I know" finishing up the paper work "and I'm not going to fire you like I will with Dr. Shepherd. Demetri, Phoenix meet Dr Mark Sloan and Dr Owen Hunt. The children are Phoenix's twins"

"Beautiful children" Owen motions to Lauren "May I?"

"Yeah" he picks up Lauren since she began to cry, he rocks her in his arms and smiles when she calms down "have any children?"

"No" shaking his head no "hopefully one day" He might want to put a baby in his girlfriend soon, if that Alice's vision is correct then he needs to do it now or never.
