Aphmau's pov

I screamed as the root grabbed my foot. It made me fall with a loud thump and I started to be dragged off deeper into the forest. I dug my fingers into the soft soil but I was just digging up dirt. I screamed and as the root dragged me I grabbed a hold of a rock.

The root pulled harder and the rock started to cut my skin. My hands slipped from the rock and I heard someone yell "Lady Aphmau!" It was Garroth and Laurence. I went to scream for help but then the root wrapped around my mouth.

A muffled scream came out but not loud enough. It only grabbed one foot so I used my free foot and my arms to try and pull the roots away. Then before I could the root wrapped around my waist and pulled me against something hard...it was a tree.

Garroth's pov

I jumped off the bed and ran to the gates. Laurence chased after me as I ran into the forest. I couldn't hear Aphmau anymore and I was worried. I kept my sword close to me and slowly stepped over the roots on the ground.

Laurence looked worried and I could hear the creaking of the tree's. I thought it was just the wind but, no, I was wrong. A branch snapped forward and swiped at me. I dodged the brach and readied my sword.

"The tree's." Laurence looked at me confused. "They are alive." Laurence' eyes widened. I had never seen anything like this before. I always thought living tree's lived only in the Yaggrissal (hope I spelt that right) forest.

Laurence' pov

I followed Garroth out of the gates and into the woods. It looked like the roots had moved but that isn't possible. I then remembered that story the Lord of Meteli told me and Cadenza when we were kids.

The story was about tree's being able to move. It was just a folk tale but what if that was true? The forest tree's creaked and a branched reached out and attacked Garroth. He dodged and pulled out his sword.

When he said the tree's were alive I thought 'how?' Well we do have magics users and maybe there is one that cane make the tree's into the living. The thought of that worried me.
