Blackout Part 4

At this point, the entire group was sleeping into the night. The only sounds that came and went in that living room was snoring, which can be considered normal due to the present circumstances. However, the only one to wake up from slumber was Yugi, who sleepily yawned and opened his eyes. He glanced around him and saw that everyone else was still asleep. He smiled at them and sighed in content. He then turned around and took a look at his backpack sitting on the table. Originally, the table stood in front of the TV but the group had to move it so that they had enough room to play games. Yugi tilted his head slightly at the backpack.

"Don't you want to come out?"Yugi asked softly. "I know you were watching us play from afar. Why didn't you say anything?" A ghost-like figure suddenly appeared in front of where Yugi was looking at. He looked almost exactly like Yugi except a bit more serious and grown up.

"I didn't want to interrupt your fun," the spirit told Yugi.

"But joining us would be even more fun," Yugi smiled softly. "Next time, you should join us."

"I'll think about it, Yugi." The spirit looked around briefly before asking, "Is the power still off?"

"It seems that way," Yugi answered, glancing at one of the light fixtures that was above them. "I wonder how long it will be before it comes back on." The spirit nodded, staying silent so that he can think. Yugi turned back to his sleeping friends, just gazing at how they look in slumber. Then the spirit broke the silence.

"How long has it been?" the spirit asked Yugi.

"Hmm?" Yugi said, turning to the spirit again. "How has what been?"

"How long has it been since the ceremonial duel?" Now it was Yugi's turn to be silent. That duel...and everything afterwards was the last thing that he wanted to talk about. Why was that? Not many people in that room know of why that's the case, in fact half of the people in the room don't have a clue of it.

"A few years now," Yugi replied after a long while. "Why do you ask?"

"I was just curious," the spirit said, crossing his arms. "Are you feeling o-" In that instant, the lights in the living room came on and the TV turned on with the game starting back up again. Yugi flinched and squinted his eyes from the light, but was soon able to adjust after a minute or two. Lizzy yawned and stretched her arms outside of the blanket.

"The power decided to come on?" Lizzy said, rubbing her eyes. "Hooray!"

"It's a good sign," Yugi said with a sigh of relief. He turned around to see if his spirit friend was there but he was gone. He frowned slightly.

"Whatcha doing, Yugi?" the girl asked, looking at her friend.

"I'm just looking at the bag I brought here. It's not a big deal."

"I see. You look troubled. Are you okay?"

"Don't worry, I'll be okay."

"Are you sure?"

"...Absolutely."
