An Interesting Visit Part 1

It was evening, after sunset to be exact, in the Cairo museum. The visitors have already left for the night and the staff remained to linger in the empty halls of the exhibits. As the janitors and others were wandering through the museum, a woman walked to each of the exhibits, taking into account if everything was in order and in its place. A janitor, who was walking by the woman, saw her and asked,

"Working rather late, are you Mrs. Wood?"

"Yes," Mrs. Wood replied with a soft smile. "This is my last full day here in Cairo before I head to the Smithsonian Museum tomorrow. After that, I'll be home for a few weeks."

"That sounds good. Everyone needs a break every so often. Good luck at the next museum, Mrs. Wood."

"Thank you." The janitor went off to do his job while Mrs. Wood did hers. As the woman went around the museum and wiped some sweat off her face, she noticed that two people were also going through the exhibits. They were people that she didn't recognize as part of the museum staff. One was dressed in a white dress and headdress, and the other was in a long, black robe. So, Mrs. Wood decided to approach them. "Excuse me, but the visiting hours are over for the day," Mrs. Wood spoke as she walked to the two people. "You can come by tomorrow."

"I'm sorry to intrude," the woman who wore white replied, turning to Mrs. Wood. "But we were looking for a woman named Leilani Wood. Have you seen her?"

"That would be me," Mrs. Wood said with a soft smile. "How may I help you?"

"Do you have a sarcophagus on display that we could look at?"

Mrs. Wood furrowed her eyebrows, puzzled as to why she was asked this. "We do but there is no one in the sarcophagus. Why do you ask?" It was a lie to get them off of her case.

"We have noticed that the ones that lay dead in their tombs have disappeared," the man in the black robe explained. "At least, the ones that we have looked into."

"Well...a lot of the sarcophaguses here might have a mummy inside," Mrs. Wood said with her hands on her hips. "But I don't believe that mummies can just disappear. What makes you think that the dead bodies disappear without anyone taking them?"

"Ma'am, we are gravekeepers and hold one of the ancient Egyptian artifacts in our possession. The mummies are gone from their tombs, and we've checked most of them."

"An Egyptian artifact, you say? What would that be?"

"It's one of the Millennium items. Ishizu, show her." The woman nodded and directed her attention to the golden necklace she was wearing.

"This Millennium Necklace allows me to see the future," Ishizu explained softly. "The future it told me was a disaster that will occur, if we don't do anything about it."

"The Millennium items?" Mrs. Wood repeated. "I've heard that term before. My youngest child loves history, so I gave her a lot of historical books to read in her spare time. One of them mentions the items that you speak of."

"She is probably who we need. We're running out of-" Suddenly, the lights in the museum shut off.

That's the end of the chapter part! Thanks for reading and look forward to the next part. See you then! :)
