A Presence Communication Part 2

"Who are you?" Northwemko demanded, pointing her staff towards the spirit. Lizzy stayed by her Duel Monster's side, hoping to get an answer without much force.

"I was about to ask you the same thing," the spirit admitted. "So you're the ones I felt earlier..." It looked over at Lizzy and asked, "Can you see me?"

"Uh yeah," Lizzy answered bluntly. "If you were expecting a different answer, then I hate to spoil it for you."

"But...but how?!"

"It does not concern you," Northwemko replied, still having her staff towards the spirit. "Now you must leave before more questions come to your head."

"Wait, Northy!" Lizzy exclaimed, putting her friend's staff down. "It's not gonna do any harm to us. At least, it doesn't look like it will." She looked at the spirit intently. "Will you?"

"Of course not," the spirit answered with a shake of its head. "At the state that I'm in, there's nothing I can do than just wander outside my pendant. I didn't mean to trouble you two."

"That's okay! We're just being careful of who discovers us. Right, Northy?" Northwemko nodded in agreement, relaxing herself and putting her staff away with a snap of her fingers.

"Northy?" the spirit repeated, quite puzzled as to what kind of Duel Monster she was.

"Divine Grace Northwemko is her full title," Lizzy explained, sitting on the couch again. "But I've known her for so long that I now call her Northy as a nickname. So since you have made our acquaintance, may I ask for your name? Unless I need to tell you my name first."

"I already know your name, Lizzy," the spirit spoke, floating towards the couch with Northwemko ahead of it. "As for my name, I am Atem."

"Oh okay! Do you want to be referred to as 'he' then? I'm aware that spirits at times have peculiarities to what they are called."

"Who told you that?"

"My friend Nuru. He can speak with those who haven't been laid to rest yet."

"But you can?"

"For me, it's an interesting and most unusual case. Anything that can connect to Duel Monsters, I have the ability to do until I grow weak. I can't normally see spirits." Lizzy leaned towards the spirit, who sat on the armchair of the couch and concluded, "Which means you are connected to the game itself, aren't you?"

"Your deduction skills are well," Atem admitted with a small smile. "However, I don't see a reason as to why I'm still here in this world. My job here was finished a while ago, so I don't know why I'm here."

"Your job?" Northwemko repeated, curious as to what he was talking about. "What did this job of yours entail exactly?"

"I was in possession of a Millennium item a long time ago, then Yugi possessed it and the both of us saved the world together."

"The Millennium items?" Lizzy gasped with sparkles in her eyes. "As in the Egyptian Millennium items?!" The spirit's eyes widened from her knowledge of this and turned to Northwemko for an explanation.

"She loves history," Northwemko spoke with a slight shrug.

That's the end of the chapter part! Thanks for reading and look forward to the next chapter part tomorrow. See ya then! :)
