Birthday [Fluff]
Yuga hummed, twirling a bit of his hair around his finger as he stared absently at Aizawa, not taking in anything written on the board. His friends had gotten onto him for falling behind in his studies, but today, he just couldn't bring himself to care. After all, it was one of the most important days of the year...
His birthday!
He had been waiting ages for this moment to arrive, and he was positively beside himself with excitement. The boy had gone through a lot of preparation for himself! He used a special face mask that morning, pocketed his softest handkerchief, and even dusted himself with a light layer of glitter, just for that extra effect. In more ways than one, he was absolutely glowing.
Before he even knew it, class was over, and the rest of class 1-A began their normal ritual of getting in their friend groups to have their after-class recap. Yuga stood up with as much flair as he could muster, propping his body on the table with a sigh of achievement as he glanced around the classroom. All of these people to celebrate his birthday with?
Magnifique!
He sauntered over to one of those groups, consisting of Iida, Midoriya, and Mina, coughing a moment to announce his presence.
"Oh, hey Aoyama!" Midoriya smiled, turning to face him.
"Bonjour, monsieur Midoriya~! Isn't it just a lovely day today?"
"Yeah! I actually thought I'd go out somewhere and study today, since it's so nice." Midoriya laughed a bit in response, "I never really get out of my room anymore except to train. I guess now's the Time to start!"
Yuga's smile faltered momentarily, before Iida chipped in enthusiastically.
"That's good to hear! It's nice to see you focusing on your studies. Speaking of which," he directly addressed Yuga, "I hear your grades have improved! That's good news!"
"Ah, w-well yes, of course they have!" He hid his disappointment behind a defense, "I tell you, I'm a star student and nobody even realizes~!" He was cut off by Mina throwing an arm around him, chiming loudly "You bet!! I knew you could do it, Aoyama-Kun!"
He smiled shakily, realizing he wasn't going to get a "happy birthday" just yet, so he adjusted his tie before replying "Yes, well, merci. I'll leave you to your Original conversation now. Adieu!" As he walked away, he seemed a lot more dejected than before. Did they not remember his birthday...? No, of course they did! It was just a busy time of month, with finals coming up. That was all! Surely someone knew what today was. Or at least, he thought... Until he had talked to the entire class.
Nobody even remembered...
He was beginning to lose hope before he noticed you walking up to him, and his smile gained some of its intensity. Of course! If anyone would have remembered, it was you! He prepared his speech as you made your way across the room, grinning proudly as you greeted him with-
"Hey! Aoyama-Kun! You feel like training today?"
That was it. It was over! Not even you had remembered his birthday- the day he was looking forward to the most. And you almost never asked him to train.
"Ah, well uh... I think I'd like that, actually."
"Oh, really?" You were almost bewildered for a moment. You... Really didn't expect that would work. However, that defeated expression on his face didn't look too good. It was one of those things you never saw, and boy you hoped something wasn't about to ruin your surprise. The two of you made your way out of the classroom, as Yuga took a last glance back at everyone who had forgotten, and sighed.
It didn't take you too long to change into some training clothes, and Yuga was already waiting for you by the school's training field. He was drawing pictures in the dirt before he saw you and stood up straight, putting on another smile. "So, what kind of training did you have in mind?" He asked, placing his hands on his hips. You noticed that he really didn't seem in the mood for training. For once, actually, he didn't really seem in the mood for anything.
"Oh! Well, actually, I wanted to show you something first." You sprinted over to your bag, and he followed hesitantly, utterly confused.
"Y/n, what is going on-"
"SURPRISE!"
Yuga screamed shrilly as you made a Sharp turnaround, pulling the string of a confetti popper in his direction and showering him in colored paper. His expression was something close to mortified, and you stifled something of a laugh/gasp as you realized the shock you had given him.
"H-happy birthday!! Oh my God, I'm sorry, did I scare y-" you stopped abruptly as you noticed him tearing up, and in a panic you began tearing through your backpack.
"Oh my God aaaahhhhhhhh I'm so sorry I didn't know you'd be right there AHHHH wait, I have something else-"
"Y/n..." Yuga sniffed as he put a hand on your shoulder, causing you to turn around.
"Y-you... Remembered...?"
"Of course!" You replied, grabbing his hand in an attempt to console him, angry that you made him cry. "I've been planning a surprise for a week!!! But I didn't expect it to scare you, I'm so sorry!!"
"No, i-it's not that, Mon Ami!" He stuttered, wiping his face and attempting to recover, "I just... I just thought nobody remembered..." With that, he broke out into happy sobs and wrapped himself around you in a tight hug, nearly smothering you. Chuckling, you reached into your bag and found what you were looking for and pushed Yuga aside just enough to show him. I. Your hands was a small, homemade cupcake with yellow icing and edible glitter.
"I know it's not much for something planned in a whole week, but I hope it makes today a little better for you! Happy birthday, Aoyama-Kun!"
Yuga took you hands, cupcake and all, and gripped them in his own. "M-merci, y/k...this makes today worth everything..."
Before he could say anything else, however, you stood up and placed your hands on your hips enthusiastically.
"However," you grinned, "You'll still have to earn this cupcake! Now, how about a few laps around the track?"
'ah,' he thought, standing up with a sigh, 'training.'
But at this point, he was okay with that.
(A/n: this was actually a requested fic! I'm not sure if it was any good, and I might be editing this one as well. I was gonna have some more scene with Yuga and the Reader just talking, but I didn't want it to drag, y'know? So that could have actually ruined the story. Either way, it was kind of fun to write! I took the prompt kinda loosely and I hope that's okay! I just thought it'd be nice to have a short but sweet "today didn't go great but it's okay because the one I care about has my back and wants me happy so that's nice" sort of moment. So this was more of a "general life" moment than something super duper impactful and life changing. Again, hope that's alright!!!!)
