Ch.2 Train to Busan?

~Y/n pov~

Suhyeok collapsed to the ground, panting in exhaustion, "It's them right... zombies."

After a few moments he stood up.

Zombies started to appear in the corridor.

They noticed us in the classroom and started banging on the windows, leaving smudges and blood prints.

"We should look for a phone." Cheongsan suggested.

Everyone scrambled around, checking in the bags and desks.

I slowly got up and started to search the bags and desks that were close to me.

Feeling a hand lightly touch my shoulder, I turned to face the person. It was Suhyeok.

"Hey, are you alright?" Suhyeok asked, "About earlier, are you scared of heights?"

I felt embarrassed that I had shown vulnerability in front of these people I barely knew, "Yeah. I don't like ladders either."

"Sorry for not noticing." Suhyeok apologised.

Why did he feel the need to apologise?

I stared at his worried expression for a few moments, "It's fine. I'm alright."

He nodded unsurely and went back to searching in the desks nearby, occasionally glancing over at me as if to make sure I was still alright.

"Here!" Isak stood up with a phone in her hand.

Everyone gathered around.

"Who's is its?"

We quickly realised they'd turned into a zombie.

Cheongsan looked out of the window and noticed they were one of the zombies trying to get in.

He held the phone near the zombie, trying to make Face ID work.

I almost laughed at him.

"Idiot. You don't need that for emergency calls." Onjo scolded him

Cheongsan looked embarrassed as he tried to keep his composure, pretending he didn't just do an idiotic thing.

He started to call the police.

"Hello? This is Hyosan high school. A ton of zombies showed up at lunch, and they're eating people." Cheongsan told them.

I internally facepalmed.

"Don't say zombies." Onjo stated.

"Then what?"

"They won't believe you."

"Did you happen to see the move Train to Busan?" Cheongsan asked.

I died a little more on the inside after he said that.

After a few more moments, the person on the other side hung up.

I heard someone scream and all the zombies ran towards the sound.

"He said they'll come." Cheongsan stated.

"What if they think it's a prank and decide not to come?" Gyeongsu asked.

"Try again and tell them to hurry up!" Nayeon yelled in a whiny voice.

"Be quiet." Jimin whispered harshly, "You'll attract the zombies."

"Give me the phone." Onjo snatched it off of Cheongsan

She called the fire department and asked for her Dad.

Onjo then decided to tell them that there was a big fire and to come quickly.

Now all we could do was wait and hope that someone came.

I laid my head on the desk and stared mindlessly out of the window.

Namra sat on the desk beside me and Suhyeok sat on a chair nearby and sat there silently.

Why's he being so awkward?

"We should call the cops again." Nayeon got up nervously and started to pace around.

"I am, but they won't pick up." Onjo responded.

Nayeon stormed over to Namra, "Hey. Do something. Tell Ms Park to come and help. Do something."

I frowned, "What is she supposed to do? She's in the same situation as the rest of us."

"I don't know. Anything!" She turned back to Namra, "What have you done as class president?"

Namra stood up and looked at her blankly, "You want me to go to the Teacher's office? Do you want me to leave?"

"Well... if you're offering." Nayeon replied, not caring if Namra was safe or not.

"You told me to do something. Do you want me to leave?"

"Stop it. She's only saying that because you're class president." Onjo tried to stop an argument from happening.

"So stupid. Typical." Namra spat as she turned to face Nayeon again, "Now that we are in this mess, I'm your class president?"

"We called the police already." Suhyeok stated.

"But no one's coming." Nayeon yelled as she started throwing a mini tantrum.

"Enough already, we're all scared too." Jimin responded, seemingly fed up with the girl and all her screaming.

I stayed quiet as I watched the scene play out.

Namra nudged me and told me quietly, "Thank you."

"Can you stop the whining?" Gyeongsu complained.

"Oh, now you're butting in, shithead?" Nayeon glared at him.

"What? Did you just call me shithead?" He straightened up and stepped away from the door.

"Stop it." Suhyeok demanded.

"Who the hell does she think she is?" Gyeong-su grumbled and headed back to the door.

My eyes widened as the door was ripped open with monstrous strength.

The gym teacher walked in and we all immediately backed away.

"Are you guys okay?" The coach asked.

"What about you? Were you bitten?" Gyeongsu asked.

"No, of course not. Let's block the doors first." He demanded and started moving the desks in front of the doors, "Stack them high."

My eyes flickered down to his exposed arm and I noticed a bite mark.

I nudged the person closest to me, which happened to be Isak.

"What?" She asked.

I gestured to the coach's arm.

She grabbed Onjo's arm and told her to look.

"Coach Kang. Your arm." Isak said, catching his attention.

"What are you doing? Come help us." He responded.

"You have a bite mark on your arm!" Onjo yelled which made everyone freeze and look in our direction.

"No... I wasn't bitten." He denied it and rolled down his sleeve to cover it.

"It's a bite mark."

"I said it isn't. Don't talk back to me, okay?" Coach gave her an angry look.

"It looks like you were really bitten." Isak continued.

"I wasn't!" Coach Kang yelled, "How many times must I tell you?"

The commotion had caught everyone's attention as they stopped what they were doing.

"Then why the hell are you hiding it? Show it to us." Isak yelled, "I think you should leave right now."

"What?" Coach Kang stared her dead in the eyes and stepped towards her in a threatening manner.

"Get out of here immediately." Isak demanded bravely.

I stepped back as Coach Kang glared at us.

What I didn't realise was that Suhyeok was standing right behind me and I ended up bumping into his chest.

He didn't say anything and instead stepped in front of me.

"You want me to go out there? After all I did to get here? You want me to go back out?" He spoke calmly, though you could see the anger in his eyes.

"You were bitten."

"I said get out now!" Isak yelled in a panicked voice.

"How dare you yell at me like that?! You little... come here. You won't come? Hey." Coach Kang started walking towards Onjo and Isak.

He stopped walking and put his hand up to his nose as it started to bleed.

Most people scrambled away from him but a few people stood close to Onjo and Isak.

I backed away towards the door.

Onjo whacked him over the head with her bag but it didn't do anything.

All it did was make him angry.

"You fucking bitch." He lifted his hand to hit her.

Before he could, his body collapsed to the ground.

It started convulsing weirdly and his bones cracked as he moved and writhed on the floor.

The sight was horrific and I couldn't think straight.

"We should get out of here!"

"Hey! He's turning!"

"Throw him out!"

He stood up and ran at a girl.

He ripped a huge chunk out of her cheek.

She let out screams as blood splashed onto the floor.

Tears ran down the girls cheeks as she panicked and started to turn.

Daesu grabbed the coach and threw him off the girl but it was already too late.

Cheongsan pinned the coach against the wall with a desk.

A few people all joined him to try and hold the zombie down.

Nayeon ran over to the door and pulled all the desks away. (The only useful thing she did)

I quickly moved to help her.

The girl who had turned into a zombie got up and staggered towards Nayeon and I.

I managed to move out of the way as she jumped towards me.

Nayeon let out a shriek and kicked the zombie away, "Get away from me!"

Daesu grabbed her to try and restrain her as we pulled the chairs and tables away from the door.

Suhyeok quickly reappeared beside me and helped pull away the remaining objects in front of the door.

I was surprised as he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the room as the majority of people had run ahead of us.

~*~

We ran through the corridor towards the stairs.

Suhyeok squeezed my hand as he pulled me along.

A zombie suddenly came down the stairs, making us back away.

More zombies followed.

Su-hyeok let go of my hand to run forward and kicked them away from us.

They didn't stay down for long and they were too many of them for him to take on alone.

Feeling a rush of adrenaline, I ripped a window off and smashed a zombie over the head with it as it tried to eat Su-hyeok.

"Thanks." He smiled at me before quickly putting his attention back to the zombies.

For some reason, I felt butterflies in my stomach once I saw his smile. He always looks at me so softly, as if he likes me.

My thoughts were halted as I pushed a zombie away from me.

I noticed a few others grabbing windows too.

We shoved the zombies away using windows.

It wasn't going to be enough.

"Hey! Get out of the way!" Daesu demanded.

He had ripped off the door, somehow.

We all back away as he charged in with the door.

He held it sideways and used it to block the hallway.

We all pushed against it to push the zombies away and shoved them down the stairs.

We left a few at a time and started running up the stairs.

Daesu was behind us all, "Go go!"

There was a zombie that was somehow stuck inside the stair railing.

As we ran past it, it tried to bite our ankles. (Not today Sangwoo)

We started to run along the corridor but more zombies appeared so we backed away and used the windows to push them away and continued to run further up the stairs.

The door was locked and we wouldn't be able to last much longer.

Onjo grabbed the hose while the rest of us held the zombies back.

She used the metal bit and whacked the lock until it broke.

We all rushed inside and shut the door.

The zombies banged on the door and windows, trying to get in.

I noticed someone had accidentally smashed one of the window while fighting the zombies outside.

Panting in exhaustion, I sat on the ground away from the doors.

Daesu had collapsed near the broken window.

A bloody hand reached for him and grabbed his face.

He let out a scream as he backed away.

The zombies were trying to come through the broken window.

His friends quickly moved and used tables to barricade the window.

I tried to regain my breath as I looked around to make sure everyone had made it.

My breath caught in my throat as I realised. Where's Suhyeok?

Another argument broke out again.

"Give me the phone. I'm gonna try calling again." Nayeon demanded as she grabbed Onjo's arms.

"Sorry, I lost it."

"How could you lose it?" Nayeon shoved Onjo angrily but she barely budged.

"Who cares? We've got a secured room now." Gyeongsu sighed.

"Like you can talk?!"

"What?"

"It's because you didn't lock the door." Nayeon told him accusingly, "If you had done that, the gym teacher wouldn't have gotten to us. We almost died because of you."

"Then why didn't you do anything yourself?" Gyeongsu retorted.

"You're so fucking annoying."

"You bitch." Gyeongsu grabbed her.

Daesu quickly grabbed him and pulled him away.

"Don't touch me!" She shrieked.

The situation quickly deescalated.

"Where Suhyeok?" Onjo asked.

A few others glanced around and noticed he was missing.

The room was dead silent for a moment.

"He was behind me." Cheongsan stated.

I frowned and zoned everyone out.

Namra put her hand on my shoulder, "He'll be alright."

"I hope so." Even though I hadn't known him for long, I was extremely worried for him.

He's been nothing but kind to me and I was starting to like him. I was hoping he felt the same way as his actions suggested he did.

But now I was just worried about his safety and hoped he found somewhere safe away from the zombies.
