Heir of Hufflepuff

Reader x Severus Snape

In so many words, you are the heir of Hufflepuff. You are the most loyal of all, your heart has always been true to those around you, you know how to kick ass when needed, you are good at finding things and kept away secrets without leaving a trace, and you have a every kind heart that it nearly kills you at times... it's kind to fight back for those in need, even if you might end up getting chased because of it.

"In the dark, there is always a light. But in the light, you will always find a bit of darkness. You can't maintain it, but you can train it with love and care."

And before you ask; I have maybe made a bit of changes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(F/n) was in bed, snoring peacefully as possible, it was a calm day as one would say it is, but sadly she was rudely awaken by her friend Sasha. "Wake up!" she yelled while she sighed and played dead. "(F/n)!" she yelled again while she spoke in a raspy voice, "Sasha, my dear friend... I'm afraid my life has met it's end... tell Lily to stay away from my muggle comics." and so, (F/n)'s tongue flopped out as she laid in bed, "dead". "Okay, I'll burn them," Sasha spoke as she got off of (F/n) to get the comics. "WAIT!" (F/n) called out as she fell out of bed to stop her fellow Hufflepuff. Sasha laughed. "Come on! We're going to be late!" Sasha spoke before running out of her room.
(F/n) sighed before getting dressed and ready. She took off and went off to her first class of the day; history of magic. One of the most boring of classes. Though, she didn't mind, she took the time to take a nap in the class and rethink of her life as a foster child in a muggle village. How she found out she was a pure blood, she was glad because it would explain most of the weirdest of things that happened at her home. But what made her happy was during her second year when she met three boys who are heirs to three of the four houses.
There is Rodin Ravenclaw whom is rude by being a smart ass, Lyon Gryffindor who is the most reckless person one can ever meet, and the sweetest boy in Slytherin which is strange; Sammy Slytherin, who is still cunning. It's strange on how the sweetest person can be there. You're just plain old (F/n) Loganberry. But after several tests and helping around the school teachers to house elves, everyone says that you could be Helga Hufflepuff's heir. But she refused to believe such a absurd thing. But sadly, everyone called her "Hufflepuff heir of Hogwarts". When learning the patronum charm in her third year, everyone wasn't shocked to see it was a badger.
Then it was confirmed during the middle of that year by her not only standing up for her house, but for standing up to James Potter who was insulting Hufflepuff for being a bunch of "fairies", "cornish pixies", "daffodils", and above all, "weak, immature children", all because Hufflepuffs are kind to the very end. (F/n) had enough insulting her house like that day, she hung him upside down by his pants, revealing his pink boxers. Everyone laughed because he had PINK. Severus at least was good enough to have gray, but James, please. She made Severus laugh a bit while Lily was outraged with her.
(F/n) came too when she bumped into a chest of the very male she was thinking about. She looked up to glare Potter in the face. He had a smirk before he pinned her to the wall. "So, princess puffy pixie, you think you were so smart with hanging me upside down, eh?" he asked, he smelled way worse than Severus. James had too much cologne on him, it could kill someone if they were to take a big whiff off of him. She sighed before pushing him off of her and walking off. "Go away Potter. I rather spend my time with Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Gryffindor than talk with you, you big oaf," she spoke, not bothering to look at him. She was blocked by his friends, Lupin and Black. She was about to turn the other way to walk around the school which would make her more late than she already is,
but she saw that Potter and Pettigrew were blocking that way too. She looked both ways and saw the window. She looked out of it for a bit while they were getting closer. She looked back at them and sighed before getting on the edge of the window. "Heyyyyy, guys. Can't we just talk about this?" she asked sweetly. She may be the heir to Hufflepuff, but... she's reckless thanks to Gryffindor. "Noo?" she asked as James was about to grab her. She kicked him in the face, causing him to fall backwards and causing his friends to look at him for a bit giving her chance to escape. "Fun talkin' to ya guys, but I got class!" she jumped back down and made a run for it.
Not too far was Sirius and Remus running after her. "Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit," these words kept getting repeated, over and over again until she made a sharp left turn and seeing the blank wall in the hall. "Score!" she thought before stopping at the wall. A door was appearing as footsteps were getting closer. She went in, not a second later after the door appeared. She looked around the storage area and sighed as she walked, shaking in fear. "D-damn those four... Potter and his jankie trolls. Such a bunch of--" she was cut off by someone finishing her words, "imbecilic, incapable swines." she looked to see that Severus was sitting down, writing in his potions book.
(F/n) accidentally dropped her book causing her to make a run for it. Severus looked and got up before looking who it was. He looked at the book and picked it up. He opened it to the first page to find messy handwriting that he can barely make out. "Return to," the rest was unreadable; like it was in another language. Severus looked around before looking to see what the book was. It was a herbology book. Meanwhile, (F/n) had manged to make her way to class... only to lose ten points from Hufflepuff and getting detention for being late. She sighed and laid her head down, whimpering.
Sasha patted her back as the day went on. After a while, it was time for herbology. (F/n) checked her things only to panic. "I can't find my book!" (F/n) was panicking while her friends were trying to calm her. "You can read off of mine," (F/n) looked to see Severus offering. "T-thanks Sev," she spoke as her friends pulled her back and whispered to her. "That's Snivellus, the one who is a half blood and his boxers showed," her friend Sasha spoke as (F/n) jerked away from her. "That's rude, Sasha. He has done nothing wrong," (F/n) spoke back as Sasha spoke, "He called Lily Evans a mudblood!" she whisper shouted as (F/n) spoke back, "It was most likely because he was under pressure and didn't like the idea of a girl having his back in bad times."
Sasha groaned before letting go of (F/n). She went next to Severus and read off of his book as class went on. They didn't talk much, but they spoke little words. Like, "how was your day", "were you hurt by Potter again?" and anything like that. This went on for a few days, (F/n) kept looking and looking and sighing in defeat. "I can't find it anywhere," (F/n) told her friend Slytherin. "D-did you look in the last place it could have been?" "Yes! It was there either. It must be lost with everything," she whimpered as he patted her back. "I'm sure you'll find it soon. I promise!" he spoke as she sighed. "I just hope it wasn't that Potter boy who stole it," she thought before she saw Severus heading to the Black Lake... not too far from him, Potter and his friends.
"I'll be back!" (F/n) spoke as she ran off to go after Potter. Soon when she got there, she saw Potter teasing him. "Potter!" she shouted as he kept laughing. (F/n) pulled out her wand and shouted, "Expelliarmus!" she shot Jame's wand out of his hand causing Severus to fall, she ran and slid to get break Severus' fall. James grabbed his wand and glared at the girl. "You should have done that, pixie," he spoke as he was ready to fire a spell. "Protego!" she shouted as he fired. At this point, everyone was watching. He growled before shooting more spells. With a simple wave of her wand, (F/n) had knocked James backwards onto his friends.
"Pick on someone yer own size!" (F/n) shouted as James got back up. Sirus, Remus, Peter, and James aimed at (F/n). Severus stood by (F/n)'s side, wand at the ready. "Severus, back down. I got this," she spoke as Severus disobeyed her. She sighed before they blocked the spells James and his friends fired. "I never did thank you for getting back at Potter for me," he spoke as (F/n) chuckled. "You're welcome. It was nothing really. It's just the Hufflepuff in me. And well... you're a good friend," she spoke as Severus was shocked. Friend? She saw him as a friend when Lily left him after he was embarrassed by being saved by her and that he wasn't what people had in mind as a friend.
"Friend?" he asked as (F/n) smiled at him and spoke, "Yeah. A friend. Everyone needs a friend they can go to when they're in danger. I won't care if my friends hate me for befriending you. I like you, Sevy." Severus couldn't help but smile. After some time, it had ended. (F/n) and Severus talked as she introduced Severus to her friends. He found them a bit off from their house, but didn't say anything. (F/n) was glad that she had befriended Severus. Some years passed and he was hanging out with bad people, she was worried, but respected him and who he had as friends.
She and Severus were still good friends. But sadly, one day during one of their last potions class, they were learning about love potions from professor Slughorn. Severus was bored, but you were paying close attention. "This is pointless. Where will we have this in the future?" Severus asked as (F/n) looked at him and poked his cheek. "Heeyyy, don't be such a downer. Besides, learning potions is awesome," she spoke as Severus rolled his eyes. "Ah, Ms. Hufflepuff, please come up and tell us what you smell!" Mr. Slughorn spoke, smiling as (F/n) tensed up and froze. "A-a-a-are you sure?" she asked as Severus smirked at her shyness. She had gotten more shy over the years, but she can still whoop ass.
"Come on, don't be shy!" (F/n) got up and walked over, boys were whispering that the cutest girl in school was going to say what it smelt like. She smelled it and thinks for a bit. "I-I smell parchment, ink, c-coffee, and a hint of potion making in the blood," she spoke as Slughorn smiled. "Thank you very much Ms. Hufflepuff," he spoke as (F/n) hurried back to her seat. Parchment? Ink? Coffee?? And potion making? This puzzled the boys, but Severus was the most puzzled of them all since he knows (F/n). "As you heard, the scent is of the one you love. But be warned, it's powerful and can leave a bad mark if handle recklessly," he spoke as he told the students to start making the potion. Severus sighed as he did as told with (F/n) helping. "Hey Sev, since it's the end of our year together, I was wondering... how are we going to stay in touch?" Severus looked at her before replying,
"You can always owl me, ya know. I haven't really moved. We can meet whenever we're free, but since you got that job offer... you might not really--" he was cut off by (F/n) flicking him upside the head. "Oi, silly goof. I'm not accepting the job. I don't wanna work there, it'll be boring and besides, I won't have fun as I do with you," she spoke causing Severus to blush a bit and look away. "Yeah, yeah. But you can always owl me, you silly fluff ball," he muttered causing her to giggle a bit from the memory of when their potion blew up in their face and her hair was puffy for a week.
After some time, they managed to make it. "Mr. Snape, please tell us what you smell!" Severus smelled it and was confused a tiny bit. "It smells like lilies, fresh grass, and butterbear, but it also smells like (smell one), (smell two), and (smell three)." "Intriguing," professor Slughorn spoke before walking off to ask the same to the others. "So... Lily??" Severus rolled his eyes and pushed (F/n)'s face back softly causing her to stick her tongue out. "Yeah, yeah, shut up," he muttered as she giggled, but deep down, she was in deep pain.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Years later ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Snape was sitting at the teacher's table, watching the kids get sorted, along with Harry Potter. "I would like to introduce our teacher for defense against the dark arts," Dumbledore started as Severus thought bitterly as a woman sat next to him, her hair neatly tied in a bun while she wore a necklace that had half of a heart with a snake on it. "please welcome professor (F/n) Hufflepuff. Do treat her with respect, otherwise, it won't turn out good," he joked a bit causing people to laugh a bit. Severus looked at her with awe. She had grown a lot the last time he saw her. "Hello Sevy," she spoke while looking at him.

"(F/n), it's been awhile. I thought you settled down with Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Gryffindor, consisting they fought to dance with you during the Yule ball," he spoke causing her to roll her eyes. "Nah, they found their match. I still talk to them, but lately, I haven't talked to my best friend until nooow," she spoke in a sing-song voice causing him to somewhat smile. "Hey look, professor Snape is smiling at the new professor," Fred told George as George smirked. "Those two are certainly good lookin' together," he spoke. The whole time, (F/n) and Severus were talking, catching up in life."So, did you find a wife yet?" (F/n) asked Severus as he looked down and sighed.

"No, I haven't. There was only really one woman in my life... who sadly won't know how I feel," he spoke as (F/n)'s smile disappeared. "I know... you really wanted to tell her that you loved her, but sadly, she was taken away from that--" "imbecilic, incapable swine." he finished causing them to look at each other in the eye and try not to laugh like they did when they finished each others sentences. Later that night, they were walking down to their room. "So, there was this dragon that came in and Charlie had me watch after him and it was so fun! I named him Luck because he was very fragile, and barely ate, but thanks to me believing in him, he grew up to be a wondrous horntail! He's a real sweetheart," (F/n) spoke as Severus watched her while listening.

How her (e/c) eyes would sparkle with excitement, how her (h/c) hair looked wavy when she was walking, how her heart was still good and in the right place after all of these years, and how she smelled of (smell one), (smell two), and (smell three), and-- wait. Severus stopped his train of thought and rethought about her smell. It smelled like the potion from years ago... could it? No, no, it's absurd. I mean sure, he thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world, right before Lily, how she never gave up on him, how she understood his pain, and how she-- oh gosh... he sees it now. Why he was smelling those spells. It was her.

He had fallen in love with (F/n). He still loves Lily, sure, but it had been (F/n). This whole time, he thought that second smell was part of Lily, but it wasn't. It was his friend, his friend who saved him from James Potter. The heir of Hufflepuff... (F/n) Hufflepuff. "Hey Sevy?" she asked gaining his attention. "Yes? What is it?" he asked, keeping his cool tone. "Have you ever had your first kiss?" he nearly broke down from wanting to ask why she would ask, but he didn't. "No... I never had time for foolish things like that," he spoke as she faced him. "Well then... have you figured out who it was that I spoke of that day in potions?"

He hadn't thought about that part in awhile. "Parchment... ink... coffee... potion making in the blood... who would attract you into liking--" he was cut off by her kissing him on the cheek thus giving him his answer and making him blush a bit and stunning him. "You silly goof. See you tomorrow," she spoke and went into her room. He smiled a bit before going into his room, sighing happily.

Days had passed after that day. "Professor Hufflepuff, can we do something else than learning? We want to know you!" a 4th year Ravenclaw student spoke up as a boy in Slytherin, rolled his eyes in boredom. "Well... what do you want to know?" she asked while tilting her head. "How do you know professor Snape?" a student spoke up causing her to blush a bit at the thought. "W-well... it's a long story, but it mostly happened when I was getting chased." A bit earlier, Snape's class had ended and he was walking to (F/n)'s class to take her to lunch after waiting for her class to end, only to hear her speak.

"A bully of mine and his three awful friends were after me because I hung him by his pants, I know, shocker because I'm a Hufflepuff," she spoke after a few gasped at the mere thought. "I ran into a abandoned room to be alone, I couldn't help but be angry at the boy. I was going to simply say, "Damn those four... him and his jankie trolls. Such a bunch of arses with no brains to care about others emotions," but... in the room too, was your very potions master who said, "imbecilic, incapable, swines.". I got scared when I saw him. I dropped a book I think for one of my classes, but I haven't found it at all that year. When I realized it was my book for herbology, I panicked and was losing my mind. He was kind enough to let me read off of his book that rest of the year," she spoke as the girls were saying aw, the boys were gagging and shocked that Severus has emotions.

"We became close friends ever since." "Did professor Snape ever do anything funny?" a Hufflepuff girl asked as (F/n) tried her best to surpass a laugh. "You would not believe how many times I had to hold back my laugh," she started as Severus walked in a bit. "So those times you were laughing because of those pranks you set up was you trying not to laugh?" he asked causing her to cover her face with her book, trying not to laugh still. "C-class dismissed!" the class got up and left after kindly saying bye. "S-Sevy, you know--" he walked to her and bunked her head causing her to drop her book and hold her head. "Heyyyy, no fair! You have a height advantage!"

He bent down and picked up her book. "And you are the shortest woman I know. The shortest woman I love," he spoke as she looked up, confused. "This whole time, I had... have, your book. If it had not been for Potter, we would have been complete strangers," he spoke coolly as she replied back, "I guess we owe one for Potter... or at least, I do." he was confused. "Don't think I don't know you're looking out for Harry. You may love me now, but you love Lily as well... and being the rightful friend of the mother, you have to look out for him in the wizard world. I know you Sevy Snavy," she spoke as he rolled his eyes a bit.

They walked out to head to lunch, glad that day happened. They had each other that day and for the rest of their time. Everything was perfect.

...........

"Wait, you still have that book?!" (F/n) asked as Severus replied back, "Yes I do. And I must say, your writing skills are dreadful, it's like it's in another language." "It IS in another language! It's called Greek!" "Well how was I suppose to know?" he asked as she flicked him upside the head like when they were kids. "You silly goof! You look it up!" They glared at each other a bit... before breaking out laughing. They leaned on each other, glad that they're reunited. Sure, they goof with each other by telling jokes and such out of everyone's eye... almost everyone, but when they're truly alone, they enjoy each other happily. Heck, it nearly took them all year just to have their first real kiss. (F/n) gave her job up and took up assisting Severus with Potions.

Before they knew it by the 6th year, they were in bed together, sleeping... anyone can guess what happened. Severus warned her on it wasn't safe at Hogwarts anymore, and she understood. She left and went to live life far from Hogwarts after telling Severus, "You better come back to me when it's safe again, otherwise I'm kicking your goofy butt!" She waited and waited. And almost a year later, she was baking a cake while humming softly to herself. "Ma ma!" a young voice called out as (F/n) replied back, "I know baby." she went over to her child who had her father's greasy black hair, her (e/c), and her love for does from her father.

"I know. You have to wait for cakey. In a few hours, you'll be one and you can open your toy," (F/n) smiled as a knock came from the door. She went to the door, holding onto her wand, not wanting the same fate as Lily and James. She opened the door slowly and asked who was there in Greek(I would do it, but I am too lazy).

"(F/n), you know I do not understand this "Greek" thing or whatever it is," (F/n) smiled before opening the door and hugging her long awaited love. "Severus," she cried happily as Severus hugged her. "I'm sorry I wasn't there. I had to deal with he-who-shall-not-be-named... I'm sorry," he spoke as she replied back, "I don't care. As long as you're here with me and Lily." he pulled away and looked at (F/n) confused. (F/n) looked into the dinning room with her one year old daughter. "Is that..." he didn't know how to feel. He was happy, but upset that he didn't know he would have a daughter.

"Lilian Eileen Snape," (F/n) spoke softly to Severus as he looked at her. "Took awhile to know your mother's name... a beautiful name for our beautiful little girl," (F/n) smiled as Severus smiled too. (F/n) went to Lily and booped her nose causing Lily to stretch her arms while making a happy face. Severus went over causing Lily to look at him with a confused look before smiling and clapping her hands "Papa!" she cheered gleefully as Severus picked her up and hugged her. Their family was finally whole.

Years passed and Lily was nervous. "A-are you sure they're going to like me? I-I'm nothing too special," Lily spoke shyly while kids were boarding the Hogwarts express. "Lilian Eileen Snape, you are the most special little girl in the whole wide world. You'll make good friends. Either they be Gryffindor," (F/n) glared at Severus who was looking away before she faced her child again and continuing, "or Slytherin, or Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff. A professor to a simple house elf, you'll make good friends." Lily whimpered before speaking, "What if... what if I'm lonely my whole life?" Lily asked worriedly.

"You won't. I promise. Your father thought the same way, until I came into his life," (F/n) smiled as Lily smiled a bit before hugging (F/n). "Thank you mommy, but what if I go into Gryffindor or Ravenclaw?" she asked as Severus replied, "Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or Slytherin, you're still our daughter and we'll be proud." just then, he heard the finally call. "You better go now. Your father and I will be there before you know it." she whimpered before leaving to the train with her pet owl and luggage. "Be safe! Don't kick the other kids butt unless they kick yours first!" "MUM!!!" Lily yelled as (F/n) giggled.

Later that night, their daughter Lily was sorted into Slytherin where she'll be protected by her father at all times. "And we'll be welcoming back our very own favorite defense against the dark arts teacher; professor Snape," McGonagall spoke as Severus looked down a bit, knowing that he's still somewhat on her bad side. "And helping professor Snape is Professor Hufflepuff," she droned on while Severus was watching Lily while Lily was talking to a few kids who are her age. (F/n) held Severus' hand and smiled softly at him. "Calm down, she's fine. Besides, we can simply keep her by our side if needed, but it'll be awkward, Sevy," she spoke as Severus couldn't help but get over the fact his little girl is growing up.

"I suppose..." he muttered as (F/n) raised a brow. "Suppose? Please, I'm your wife and I would know. I did tell stories about you to the kids," he flicked his wife upside the head. "Hey," she rubbed her head. "Payback," he whispered as she rolled her eyes. "Also, she's also my child. She is the heir of Hufflepuff," (F/n) spoke as Lily smiled while having fun. The story was never really about (F/n)... it was how Lily's parents came to have the heir of Hufflepuff. A half blood, a true heir. It was never really meant for just a full blood, it was meant for any blood who would be related to Helga Hufflepuffl, either they be pure, half, or even muggle raised, they're the heir. She was the only one left besides the child of Gryffindor, and she didn't mind. It was how she came to be.

This is only the beginning of young Lily's life as the heir of Hufflepuff.
