"girls stop running before you hurt yourselves!!" nova yelled out running over to them. scarlett and rowyn watched as she carefully grabbed their arms stopping them bending down to their level. she was holding their hands while talking to them and both girls were nodding and smiling very big

scarlett began to bite into her carmel apple on a stick, the crunch of her biting into the apple was weirdly calming for rowyn to hear who began digging into her cherry flavored shaved iced

"your mom has a way with kids, she is amazing with them." rowyn called out

scarlett was crunching and chewing away swallowing her food before speaking, "she is kind of cool i can't lie." scarlett admitted as the kids were laughing trying to hit nova with water balloons

"she is the coolest." rowyn corrected with a chuckle, scarlett gazed at her rolling her eyes. "don't tell my mother that please, then she won't stop talking about it." scarlett begged taking rowyn's spoon getting a scoop of her shaved iced. rowyn could care less considering they always share food

nova is one of the greatest women to rowyn. she adores her as much as she does ellie. nova is one of the strongest women ever. she has been through a lot since she was a child. her parents were very much abusive to her.

sexual abuse was something she unfortunately went through since she was a kid. this obviously caused many issues within herself and her life. their mother knew what was going on but didn't do anything because she was afraid of her own husband.

as soon as she was eighteen, she left home. getting a full ride scholarship to the university of kentucky. she never looked back. when in college, she met a guy who was the sweetest person ever... until he wasn't. she sadly hadn't escaped the abuse, ended up pregnant six months after meeting him.

he left her as soon as he found out which nova was entirely grateful for. she didn't know how he would react to her saying she wanted to end things. being eighteen and pregnant while in college was not an easy thing. on top of all that, nova didn't have any insurance.

she worked two jobs to be able to save up for doctors appointments while juggling her studies. her entire pregnancy was quite lonely, all she had was herself. when she found out she was having a baby girl, she felt excited yet scared not knowing how she was going to provide for this little girl.

but things eventually worked out. she was able to get herself an apartment where her and scarlett stayed, no roommates. nova ended up graduating from college becoming what she is today, a nurse practitioner. one of the best nurse practitioners in kentucky. her story motivates scarlett and rowyn.

rowyn and scarlett watched as the older children in their church were conversating with wyatt and amelia. the two adults seemed really in tune with them all

"what are you thinking about him possibly being the new preacher?" scarlett quickly asked watching wyatt chuckle, amelia turned her head looking over at them

"we'll see tomorrow, won't we?" rowyn said honestly just ready to go home. today they are having a meet and greet kind of party for wyatt and amelia. everyone has welcomed them with open arms, the couple not really having any time to themselves ever since they pulled up to the church. but they expected that not minding it, in fact they were happy majority of the church members came to chat with them

amelia decided to sneak away making her way to rowyn and scarlett. "hi girls! how are you two doing?" she asked sounding sweet as pie smiling brightly at them

scarlett returned a smile, "good and you?"

rowyn shrugged, "lovely." she dryly said but amelia took no offense to it. she has noticed these past two weeks that rowyn is very much to herself and not that big of a talker. completely different from taryn

scarlett nudged rowyn frowning at her. rowyn just sighed, "i'm ready to see you and the dance troupe's routine tomorrow. are you ready to perform?" amelia asked looking at rowyn

rowyn was ready to wrap this conversation up, "yes ma'am." she answered simply with no fakeness

amelia could tell she didn't want to talk anymore and she didn't want to overstay her welcome with the girls. she looked seeing her son getting along with some of the girls, mentally rolling her eyes at her child who unfortunately changes girls like he does his underwear.

chase doesn't have one single bone of loyalty or commitment within his body. one of the girls was purposefully hitting his muscular arm laughing the day away. "i'll talk to you girls later. i hope you guys are enjoying yourselves." she said walking over to her son.

she quickly said something causing the girls to scurry off. chase and his mother began walking side by side with each other. it looked as if she was scolding him about something, scarlett was carefully watching.

she grabbed rowyn's hand and began to drag her to the side of the church. "where are we—"

"hush!" scarlett scolded getting near the edge of the building so they could listen in.

"you pulled me away to have this dumb conversation again?!" chase yelled out in annoyance

"i did because you never want to discuss this at home with me or your father—-"

chase cut her off, "i don't want to have this conversation at all!! what i choose to do is my business." he declared with some attitude

rowyn and scarlett stood with their backs against the wall hearing amelia breath heavily. she sounded like she was exhausted, "chase, we're in a new town. this is a fresh start for the three of us. you should try to not be so open to multiple girls at once." amelia advised

"again mom, you are in my business and i have told you about that—-"

"it's not your business if everyone around town is talking about it, chase!" amelia yelled at her son

he shrugged, "what the heck are you talking about?" he rubbed his eyes aggressively

"i heard about your little shenanigans in class." amelia revealed sounding upset yet very disappointed with her sons actions

chase didn't know what to say, "oh..." he mumbled sounding a bit embarrassing

"this isn't a good look—-"

chase laughed, "for me or for you and dad?" he retorted with another laugh. he found this whole thing funny

"all of us, honey. we just moved here and you really need to—-"

"i'm not putting on a facade nor am i going to pretend to be somebody i'm not just because i'm a preachers kid." chase concluded storming off, by that time rowyn and scarlett were inside the church both breathing heavily after running like hell making sure not to get busted

"so i guess that our possible new preacher and his family have issues within their household." rowyn stated surprised by what they heard

scarlett shrugged, "we all have issues within our households. some are worser than others." she reminded her friend
