it was sunday morning, rory and anna were running around the house trying to get ready to leave early for bible study. rowyn sat at the island eating her breakfast in silence not paying them no nevermind. she tuned them out, trying to focus. today is finally the big day.

rowyn is actually feeling okay, a tad bit anxious but not like how she normally is. amelia, nova, scarlett, wyatt and chase all have been reassuring her that she will do great. she has been practicing three times a day spending more time with amelia than usual, but she has been enjoying her time with the first lady.

their bond has gotten even stronger with rowyn opening up to her, trust was a hard thing to come by for rowyn. she also has been growing a sort of bond you could say with chase. wyatt and amelia have noticed a significant change within their son ever since rowyn has started to tutor him.

while his attitude and anger issues are still apparent, his grades have not been an issue at all like they used to be before. he seems to be finally opening up to someone which happens to be rowyn. despite it being a slow burn, the two of them have started revealing things to each other but nothing too personal.

sometimes when they have their tutoring sessions they end up getting distracted, getting off topic beginning to discuss things within their real lives or books. it was a shock to rowyn finding out that chase in fact loves reading, he also is big on art.

amelia caught the two painting with each other when she had walked by the study room. rowyn was directing him on how to watercolor correctly and also showed him how to paint a landscape with acrylic paint. that tutorial is still to be resumed since chase is so hung up on making sure it is a perfect painting

chase is a completely different person when he isn't at school surrounded by idiots and assholes. rowyn likes the side that she sees when at his house. she quickly came back to earth taking a sip of the freshly squeezed orange juice

a loud yawn appeared, taryn headed downstairs and into the kitchen with bags under her eyes. she looked completely drained, "goodmorning." anna said with her back turned continuing on washing the dishes

rory appeared walking over to taryn who sloppily sat in the chair next to rowyn. he kissed taryn on the forehead causing her to cringe immediately wiping the slob off, "well goodmorning to you." rory raised an eyebrow

taryn sighed, "i'm sorry dad, i barley got any rest last night."

rowyn decided to be messy, "i bet...." she murmured taking a sip of her drink. taryn glared at her ready to hit her sister.

"what time did you go to bed last night?"

taryn shrugged, "nine o' clock." she lied easily

"did you guys hear anything last night?" rowyn challenge causing goosebumps to appear on the back of her sisters neck. she was losing it seeing both her parents have confused looks on their faces

"i didn't, why rowyn?" anna asked washing her hands then drying them, she didn't break eye contact with her. rowyn sighed getting up to go wash her glass plate

"sounded like a window was creaking loudly last night." she informed with a smirk

rory snapped his finger, "you know what? i'm glad you brought that up, i need to fix that one window near you and taryn's room."

"we've been so busy lately, we completely forgot about it. plus we have to make sure it is glued shut honey." anna reminded walking over to him patting his back softly

the two of them walked out of the kitchen to go grab a few things from upstairs. taryn waited until she heard their footsteps disappear to get up and walk over to her sister. she stood beside her crossing her arms, "are you going to snitch on me or what?" she bluntly asked not in the mood for charades

"i don't know you. but it is enjoyable watching you squirm." rowyn challenged with a chuckle

taryn glared at her, "where'd you go?"

"none of your business. stay in a child's place."

rowyn laughed, "you're literally a child yourself." she retorted cleaning off the dish placing it in the dishwasher. she started washing her hands, "if you tell on me then i'll tell mom about your secret hiding place in your room." taryn coughed up but it didn't phase rowyn.

her sister has always been a sneaky, nosy little one. always peeking her head around the corner trying to see what her sisters have going on. growing up, each of them were always up under each others noses.

fighting was never really something that occurred in the household, mainly because their parents don't play. their dads stern voice was enough for them to gather themselves.

"and i'll tell mom about those dirty magazines you hide in your mattress." rowyn clapped back earning a surprised gasp from her sister who was tongue twisted

"i hate you!!" taryn roared storming off purposefully bumping into rowyn who chuckled

there was currently a wooden chair sitting in the center of the chancel with a tiny gold cup under it. after the choir sang a few beautiful songs, pastor wyatt came up to the microphone to say a few kind words about rowyn.

wyatt smiled widely, "rowyn has been working overtime on this dance, three times a day making sure it is perfect. my lovely wife—-" he motioned towards amelia who cracked a smile, chase sat beside his mom with no facial expression

"has been assisting her, they have been spending so much time together i think i've been replaced as her best friend." wyatt innocently joked earning some laughter from the crowd including scarlett and her friends she invited out to church. they came to show support for rowyn

"allow me to introduce the lovely ms. rowyn walsh!" wyatt said earning some applause as one of the dance troupe girls stood at the back door opening it for rowyn who came out looking quite like a literal angel

rowyn was wearing a victorian like long white dress with white tights places amongst her legs, no shoes on her feet. it was absorbing for many to see rowyn with bone straight hair, she looked even more beautiful

she walked with her head down going to sit in the chair. amelia pulled out her camcorder starting to record, chase side eyed his mother real quick then returned his attention to rowyn who was looking down at her lap.

family tree by ethel cain started to play with rowyn beginning to lean back in the chair with the front two legs of the chair leaning forward

'these crosses all over my body remind me of who i used to be'

she sat down properly getting up from the chair starting to dance freely like she was in some sort of pain. she was making the church goers feel her deeply, many of them feeling the emotions within the dance

amelia was nodding her head, remembering exactly how this dance routine is supposed to go. rowyn was hitting every single move that she practiced perfectly. the spirit started moving within the church slowly but surely

her parents were paying close attention to her as she grabbed the cup, the audience was trying their best to see what was in it. many assumed that it was water but they were wrong

'and christ forgive these bones i've been hiding'

rowyn brought the gold cup up to her lips drinking it. when she brought the cup away from her mouth, she wiped her mouth smearing the fake blood farther away from her lips.

'and the bones i'm about to leave, yeah'

when the bass hit, rowyn began to dance aggressively acting like she had been stabbed. she was putting on a show earning people in the audience to cheer her on, many began speaking in tongue. by the the time it got to the end of the song, everyone was clapping.

it brought many to tears with elsa in the very back of the church clapping away. she got up quietly leaving out not letting anyone see her.

after church, everyone was coming up to rowyn telling her what a good job she had done. scarlett jumped into her arms hugging her friend tightly, rowyn smiled happily. "i'm so freaking proud of you." scarlett said in her ear with tears about to escape from her eyes

the two girls broke away from each other with rowyn cupping scarlett's face. their foreheads touched with them beginning to laugh, rowyn wiped the tears away with her thumbs.

"i love you." scarlett said

rowyn whispered, "i love you."

when they were done with their cute moment, scarlett's friends cheered rowyn on causing her to grow shy. she isn't used to having all attention on her. "we should celebrate!" luke mentioned

scarlett looked over at rowyn's parents who were chatting with wyatt and amelia. she smirked sneaking away from everyone leaving rowyn all by herself but she didn't mind talking with them. scarlett's friends are very kind to rowyn and never have mistreated her.

chase walked up causing everyone to shush up. him and rowyn just looked at each other with ryan awkwardly coughing, "let's go." he whispered to his crew who immediately dispersed

chase nodded, "you—- you did amazing." he complimented with a small smile. he was standing close enough to rowyn for his expensive cologne to hit her nostrils

towering over her wearing an all black suit and tie. looking handsome as ever, like an old hollywood star. rowyn chuckled, "thanks." she quietly said

"are you satisfied with your performance?"

rowyn bit her lip thinking deeply, "yeah." she answered but chase could see straight through her 'confident' answer

he rolled his brown eyes letting a deep exhale escape from his mouth, "you're worried about what your parents think, waiting to hear their final thoughts." he dared to expose with an annoyed expression

rowyn didn't even speak because chase was right. she looked down in defeat, "the day you stop letting their opinions affect you is when you'll be able to live a little more freely." chase advised then left her standing there to ponder on his words

those words stuck with rowyn for the rest of the week and still are sticking with her as she is surrounded by many. scarlett informed rory and anna that her and a few friends would be going out to the lake for the weekend and to her surprise, they actually allowed rowyn to go.

nova is of course chaperoning the kids. they all are staying at nova's ridiculously huge cabin lake house, just getting here a few hours ago after a three hour drive. the drive was filled with singing, laughter and most importantly games.

nova, scarlett, rowyn and luke all rode together. rowyn was in tune, conversating with the three people she is most comfortable with. she was happy to be getting away from bardstown for a few days.

scarlett walked through the sliding glass door with a serving tray full of drinks in her hand. everyone started to cheer happily as she sat the tray down, everyone grabbing a martini glass

her mother had made them her famous chocolate martini mocktails, no alcohol obviously. scarlett raised her glass high in the air   looking over at her bestfriend, "to rowyn, my best friend in the whole wide world."

"and the best cousin anyone could ever ask for!!" luke added in, rowyn began to blush as everyone else raised their glasses

"to rowyn!!!" they all yelled out in unison then took a sip of their drinks. they all exchanged looks thinking the exact same thing

"holy cow! this is amazing!" kelly exclaimed

"really good." ryan complimented

"yeah i don't know how your mom is single." kelly said without even thinking, ryan slapped the back of her head, "shut up!" he quietly scolded her

ryan looked at scarlett with sorrow about to apologize but she didn't take it to heart. "it's okay!" she raised her hands in defense

"trust me i have tried convincing her to go out but..." scarlett shrugged, "she's not ready yet."

and to be honest, she probably never will be. hayden was hands down the love of her life. he treated her with respect treating her like royalty. never ever disrespected her or their relationship. hayden was a tall handsome man who had women flirting with him all the time, even men

he would dodge them left and right not leaving an opportunities for them to keep pursuing him. he was such a gentleman, the kind of man who opens the door for you and others. a man who stood for women's rights and was very private not leaving room for gossip.

a man who stepped up and was the best father figure to scarlett. no one would ever be able to replace hayden and nova knew that. scarlett knew that too but all she wants is for her mom to be happy and showered with love that she rightfully deserves

there suddenly were loud cheers and screams being heard nearby. people howling like wild monkeys, everyone looked at each other confusingly. another lake house sat not too far away from nova's who was already on it walking down to the house.

when she got there she banged on the door with it opening revealing many teenage boys. "oh hey miss nova!!" justin said leaning on the door flashing a smile

nova was surprised to see him, "um.. hi justin!"

it sounded like ruckus going on inside the house. all she could hear was noise and laughter, "everything okay?" he asked

"yes ma—-"

"yo, who is at the door?!!!" someone yelled sounding like they were getting closer

chase popped up completely shell shocked to see nova standing in the flesh. he cleared his throat, "hi ms. leigh, how are you?" he nodded his head forward with a smile

she chuckled, "i'm great. we just heard a bunch of noise coming from over here and i just wanted to come check it out."

"oh it's nothing. we just were happy to get out of our vehicles out of that long drive, you must understand." justin said with charm

nova crossed her arms laughing, "i most certainly do."

chase immediately tuned out their conversation and couldn't help but to notice what she said, "you said 'we'. you're up here with others?" chase asked

justin rolled his eyes, "dude mind your own business." he sternly said with chase shrugging, "no disrespect! i was just wondering is all."

nova waved him off, "you're totally fine but scarlett and rowyn are up here with some friends. decided to get away for a few days." she nodded

justin chuckled not believing what he hearing, "wait? rowyn is here? her parents actually let her get away—-" chase slapped the back of his head making him shut up

"yeah she is here and i probably should get back over there. if you boys aren't busy, you should stop by. they're probably about to take a dip in the lake, i'm about to start fixing dinner." she informed being as nice as possible

"what's for dinner?!!" bryce one of their friends asked spawning from out of no where.

nova chuckled not expecting that, "blackened salmon sandwiches, watermelon salad and for dessert panna cotta."

the boys didn't have to second guess anything, "we'll be right over in a few minutes." justin answered happily

and they were. everyone was in the clear blue lake having chicken fights with rowyn watching them as she sat alone in the folding wooden lawn chair reading a book. she heard scarlett screaming as her and kelly were playing fighting while justin and bryce were doing the same

scarlett and justin ended up winning with them happily high fiving each other. kelly playfully rolled her eyes swimming over to them pushing scarlett in the water earning laughter from them all. chase started swimming over to where rowyn was getting up on the deck dripping water everywhere

he went to sit beside her getting droplets on her page which got her to look over at him, she shut her book sitting it on the tiny patio table. "what's up?" she shrugged

"why aren't you in the water having fun with us?" chase asked sounding caring

rowyn shrugged, "just not in the mood i guess."

chase sighed, "talk to me." rowyn frowned

"something is clearly wrong, c'mon spill it." he commanded playfully hitting her knee

"nothing is wrong, for once. i'm just a little tired." she said in all honesty, chase could tell she was telling the truth

chase was about to speak but scarlett suddenly sat on her lap. "ma'am we are playing mermaids and you are sitting over here by your lonesome!!" scarlett called her out

"you're literally getting me all wet." rowyn dryly said making them both laugh. scarlett smirked quickly laying her head on her chest purposefully getting her shirt wet

scarlett stood up then grabbed rowyn's arm making her stand. "now you have no choice but to get in the lake!" she squealed

rowyn rolled her eyes slowly taking her shirt off revealing a navy blue polka dot bodysuit hugging her body, a pair of swim shorts sat beneath her legs. scarlett grabbed her hand with the two of them on the same page.

they both started sprinting to the dock hand in hand jumping into the water. when they made it up to the surface they both started laughing. justin made his way over to him, "finally you got in the water!!" he exclaimed happily

chase watched them for a moment seeing rowyn smile brighter than ever. she seemed to be a different kind of happy when she wasn't around her family, it made chase start to question what it is like in the walsh household

he wasn't able to think for long, "hello you guys!!!" they heard someone yell, it caught everyone's attention making them turn their heads in confusion. julia was making her way down the concrete steps with holly and their clique following in behind them.

"are you fucking kidding me right now?" scarlett asked in disbelief, rowyn shushed her. ryan had the same reaction, "who invited them? justin, really?" he asked in disappointment

he raised his hands in the air, "i didn't invited them!" he looked over at chase who was just as perplexed as he was, "i didn't." he mouth to him with a frown

holly ran over to chase hugging him tightly, chase had a delayed reaction eventually hugging her back awkwardly patting her back. justin swam to the dock getting out of the water to greet his girlfriend with a kiss on the forehead

"what are you guys doing here? not that we aren't happy to see you!!" justin said in an awkward tone, holly was holding onto chase as if somebody was going to take him from her. it made scarlett cringe and gag in the background

"well we weren't doing any back home so we decided to drive up and surprise you guys." holly said

"i thought it was suppose to be guys weekend." bryce murmured sounding irritated

the boys were glad to get away plus happy to see their boy get some time away from julia. he already spends every second with her back home, even he was ready to get away. he loves his girlfriend but space is definitely needed within relationships

"coming all the way up here to surprise someone who isn't even your boyfriend?" scarlett asked loudly causing everyone in the water to laugh even rowyn who put her hand over her mouth hiding that smirk

holly heard her quickly speaking, "good to see you too scarlett!" she sarcastically said

"it's never good seeing you holly." scarlett retorted making everyone laugh yet again including chase who couldn't hold it in. holly punched him causing him to step back, "i'm sorry, i'm sorry." he apologized

nova came out, "dinner is ready!!" she announced with everyone getting out of the lake grabbing their towels then running up the stairs to go inside. chase and justin booted it.

"what is it about boys and food, i'll never know." julia said with a sigh. the five girls headed up to the patio thinking they were about to step inside the house but nova stopped them really quickly, "i'm sorry girls. there isn't enough food for you guys plus this is a private party." she shrugged

"we can still come in right?" holly asked looking though the glass door to see chase sitting by rowyn, it drove her mad with scarlett and ryan gossiping about it

"no you can't!!!!!!!" scarlett yelled loudly, ryan swatted her hand making her roll her eyes resuming to eating

"it's okay, we'll just go stay at justin's house until their done eating." julia grabbed holly's hand motioning for her to come on. nova didn't waste anymore time on them quickly shutting the glass door

"why didn't they let us in?" holly asked like she was a victim of some sort of crime.

"maybe because you terrorize and bully her daughters bestfriend." julia wasn't afraid to call out, holly rolled her eyes ignoring her response

after they all were done eating and helping nova wash dishes and clean the dining area, they all camped outside setting a fire in place starting up a game of truth or dare

scarlett went first, "rowyn!! truth or dare?"

"ooooo!!!" everyone instigated. rowyn rolled her eyes along with holly who just knew the teen would say truth. "she is going to go with truth because she is too boring to do a dare." holly proclaimed with ignorance

"i swear the minute you got here, it's like the vibe just completely went south." kelly mentioned with shade

everyone was biting their lips trying to hold back a laugh, "dare." rowyn said with them all sharing shocked facial expressions towards her

"hell yeah, rowyn!!" ryan hyped her up

scarlett looked over at holly who was rubbing chase's arm staying close to his side, she smirked menacingly. "i dare you to kiss chase."

everyone froze with kelly spitting out her drink. it was so silent you could hear the crisp sounds of the wood burning within the fire. rowyn snapped her neck looking at her bestfriend like she was on some type of drug, "excuse me?" she asked

"i dare you to kiss chase. no pressure or anything." she pinched her cheek

holly could be heard laughing, "ms. prude is not going to do that, she knows better." holly claimed with belief

"i'm sorry—-" ryan laughed, "she knows better?" he repeated giving her a shady look

"ma'am, you need to relax. you're doing all of this over a boy who has fucked half of your classmates." talia spoke up, it was crickets amongst that statement

"it's no pressure if she doesn't want too do it." chase tried changing the subject, giving rowyn a gentle stare. she looked at him nervously

"she won't do it, she is too much of a pussy who is worried what dear mommy and daddy will think." holly stated

rowyn was growing tired of holly. she gave her a death stare then stood up, "i'll do it." she announced walking over to him, chase stood up towering over the ginger red haired girl.

the two of them looked each other in the eyes, him clearly seeing the nervousness displayed within rowyn. chase grabbed her hand walking her away from everyone especially holly who looked like she was ready to pounce on rowyn at any given second...

he looked in her eyes, "rowyn we don't have to do this if you don't want too. i mean seriously, don't let peer pressure making you feel like you have to do this dare."

rowyn bit her bottom lip nervously taking in a deep breathe, "just kiss me, i'll be fine." rowyn demanded ready to get it over with, this definitely wasn't how she expected her first kiss to be.... but here she is

chase sighed putting his hand onto her soft bare cheek, he stared into her eyes leaning down to press his lips onto hers. when their soft lips touched, there was something there.... some kind of spark.

everyone was too shocked to even react. they all couldn't believe that this was actually happened. when chase broke away, holly stormed off clearly pissed off. chase and rowyn looked at each other for a quick second before she bolted into the house with her bestfriend going to check on her, "rowyn, wait!!" she yelled out

talia clasped her hands together, "i love when a mean bitch gets put in her place!!" she yelled out excitedly

dude this is the longest chapter i have ever written, i feel like i accomplished something lmao but almost at 8k... i love ya'll so much!!!!!
