rowyn breathed heavily stepping out of the shower wrapping a clean towel around her wet body. she then wrapped a towel around her head making sure to have water all over the floor. school had gotten out and she decided to have scarlett drop her off so she could get cleaned up before going over to chase's house

today, she got sweaty due to some en plein air painting. it means 'in the open air'. their teacher wanted to try something new today, so they spent the whole period outside painting. it was peaceful for rowyn who will always appreciate reconnecting with nature in any way possible.

she went into her walk in closet quickly getting dressed into some undergarments and random pieces of clothing not caring if it was mix match. she then went into the bathroom to blow dry her natural wavy hair which took a good thirty minutes.

when she unplugged the blow dryer, she heard the doorbell ring from downstairs causing her to look flustered. "get that for me rowyn!!" her mother yelled

"yes ma'am!!" she quickly replied rushing downstairs to the front door. when she opened the door, she started stammering like crazy not expecting to see chase standing in front of her

"what are you doing here?" she asked

chase sighed, "nice to see you as well." he dryly said taking some offense to her response, "we got out of practice early today, so i decided to shower and head over here."

rowyn lowered her head giving him a death stare, "you can't be here." she warned with a low tone confusing the hell out of chase

"why—-"

"just give me two seconds to grab my stuff and then we can go to your place." she rushed

"but i'm already here?" he stated sounding lost, rowyn started growing frustrated with him. "i'll be right back!" she yelled slamming the door in his face

chase scoffed, "rude." he muttered

anna came down the stairs looking at her daughter, "who was it?" she asked in a happy voice. rowyn shrugged, "nobody." she slid past her mother running upstairs

she ran into her room throwing her things into backpack in a frenzy. she knows how her mother is, nosy. she zipped her backpack up then headed back downstairs to see anna standing at the door that was open. talking to chase who eyed rowyn who started losing it mentally.

rowyn walked over to them, "ready to go?" she asked looking at him with puppy dog eyes

"where are you two going?" anna asked

"to study. at his place." rowyn answered quickly looking at chase hoping he would agree with her decision, but he wasn't able to get a word out

anna came up with a solution, "why don't you guys just study here for the day? he already drove all this way, come on in chase." anna motioned for him to come inside

rowyn started to grow nervous, chase walked by her noticing that she was scratching her arms leaving marks. her behavior was erratic with her starting to hear muffling within her ears.

"you guys can study here in the living room, i'm sure you can understand why i need to see you guys in my peripheral vision." anna said sounding serious as ever

chase chuckled awkwardly, "yes ma'am." he quickly took a seat on the sectional brown leather couch. rowyn eventually went to sit on the same couch but far away from him as possible

"i'm going to make you kids a snack." anna announced heading into the kitchen, rowyn quickly pulled out her books and laptop with chase following her lead

the tension could be cut with a knife. both of them hadn't really talked since that kiss last week, no getting off topic when studying. both were just focused on keep him on task for his grades.

scarlett felt awful for doing her bestfriend like that, apologizing on a daily basis ever since that night. rowyn kept promising her that it was alright because it was. she understood why scarlett gave her that dare, she wanted to shut holly up for once and while rowyn wouldn't admit it aloud... she did too.

rowyn didn't say nothing to anyone but she was happy she did it. while she is quiet and barley sticks up for herself, it was time for her to shut holly up for once in her life. she already knows kissing chase is only going to make her come for her harder than ever but she is prepared.

nobody uttered a word about the kiss. they all kept it to themselves especially holly who didn't want people knowing the guy she is talking to kiss the "weirdo". it was almost like it was a fever dream, something that didn't happen.

the kiss put a strain between holly and chase who wasn't messed up about her nasty attitude. he told her 'get over it'. chase could move on in the blink of an eye, a line of girls are waiting for him right now and holly was aware of that.

a vegetable tray was sat in front of the two with rowyn feeling embarrassed. she sighed heavily with anna ignoring her, "healthy snacks are better than all those carbs and sodium. plus we need you to stay in shape!" anna playfully hit chase who chuckled, "yes ma'am."

"oh goodness." rowyn shook her head looking away ready for her mother to leave them alone

"what's your diet if you don't mind me—-"

"mom! mom, we really need to get started on studying. chase has been struggling in math." rowyn quickly said, anna nodded.

"yes, of course! sorry, if you two need me... i'll be in the study room." anna informed walking away, chase didn't say anything until he could no longer hear their footsteps

he looked over at rowyn who was now sitting close to him, her face inches from his. her hand tightly covering his mouth, "listen closely." she sternly whispered

"we're not going to discuss anything other than schoolwork. okay? nod if you understand." rowyn started to nod with chase following her lead nodding simultaneously

rowyn removed her hand from his mouth, chase grabbing his notebook opening it. he picked up a red ink pen beginning to write. he handed the notebook to rowyn who quickly snatched it from him, she rolled her eyes after reading what he wrote.

'why are you acting like we are in prison?' rowyn glared at chase who shrugged not seeing the problem with his choice of words

she couldn't help but feel her eyes roll to the back of her head, "because we are." she mouthed. chase wasn't understanding what she meant until he looked around noticing there wasn't a television in the living room.

where you would think a television would sit amongst the wall was a huge family picture that consisted of the six walsh family members. everyone was smiling showing their teeth except rowyn who was flashing a edental smile.

everyone else looked happy, content. chase started to wonder about her two sisters bree and ellie. she barley has ever mentioned him which makes chase think at times that they don't even exist. he at times found himself tempted to ask rowyn about them but decided no too not knowing how she would react

"can i use the restroom?" chase suddenly asked, rowyn nodded.

"yeah sure. go down the hallway, first door on the left." she answered emotionless, sounding irritated. chase just ignored her standing up walking to the restroom

anna peeped out of the study room that was a little further down the hallway, "we leave the door halfway open when using the restroom." she quickly informed him which was an unexpected response he wasn't prepared to hear

"huh?" he asked as anna quickly shut the door. chase stood there for a moment not knowing why that is a rule.... especially considering the house has two underage girls within it

chase placed his hands awkwardly into his pockets quickly turning around going back into the living room. he quickly sat down looking like he was in deep thoughts, rowyn frowned noticing something was wrong but she decided to stay mute.

when they tried to attempt studying, the front door opened with them hearing chatter along with laughter from multiple people. taryn and the entire cheerleading squad entered the living room with them all quieting down seeing chase and rowyn sitting next to each other.

holly eyed rowyn then playfully smirked, "let's go into the kitchen, um get some snacks then practice!" taryn said trying to turn the attention away from her sister

they all rallied into the kitchen sitting in different seats and spots, rowyn quickly got up grabbing taryn by the arm. she gripped the back of her arm so tightly that it began to hurt. taryn tried escaping her wrath but wasn't able too as she dragged her older sister upstairs away from the railing.

chase surprisingly was able to sneak up the steps escaping from holly's gaze. he snuck up on the side of the wall not getting seen from the two bickering sisters

"you've done a lot of things taryn, but this has to be one of the most tonedeaf." rowyn informed her sounding sounding extremely hurt and disappointed with her

"what are you yapping about rowyn?" taryn asked nonchalantly crossing her arms which made rowyn even more angry

"first of all, you know how dad is." rowyn scolded. chase felt himself frowning not knowing what rowyn meant by that. from all of his altercations with rory, he seems like a chill guy. no doubt in his mind he thinks something is off about her parents but they still come off as kind

"he is going to crucify you if he gets here and sees all of your teammates downstairs. secondly, why is holly here?" rowyn asked trying to give taryn the benefit of the doubt

taryn caught herself laughing heartedly for a quick second, "okay, just because you allow holly to bully you and don't stick up for yourself doesn't mean i'm going to have a problem with her."

"you know that is not what i mean." rowyn stated with silence creeping up after that. taryn clenched her jaw while rowyn looked at her with sorrowful eyes. both sisters had a staredown, both of them feeling completely different emotions

"get over it, rowyn." the amount of anger running through rowyn's body after hearing those four words was enough for her to want to run up on her sister. she walked away trying to get herself together then stormed back over to her sister. those words stung her heart, she began feel hurt all over her body

"get over it??!! get over it?!!!" she scoffed in disgust. taryn quickly nodded her head not taking back what she just said, "yes, rowyn. get over it like dad said." taryn commanded

rowyn bit her lip while looking at her sister who could care less about her eyes forming gloss around them. "okay, whatever." rowyn slapped her hands down by her thighs calmly walking back downstairs to see holly and chase talking.

she walked up to them completely ignoring holly, "can we please go to your place?" she suddenly ask, the two of them quit talking looking up at her.

chase nodded ignoring the intense gaze holly was giving him, "yeah! yeah, c'mon." he then packed his stuff up with her doing the exact same thing. they both left with her storming out of the house walking past her father who barley even recognized her due to how fast she was moving.

"where are you going young lady?!" he called out as rowyn opened the truck door getting inside slamming it which pissed her father off

he was about to storm over to her but chase luckily intervened, "we're going over to my place to study. i'll have her home by a certain time." he assured rory who pointed at him watching chase run to his truck, "you better!" he said in a playful manner

"yes sir! i will!" he yelled waving at him then getting inside the truck. he then started the engine and drove off with rory watching the truck disappear down the road

when he walked in the house, he stopped amongst seeing the barrage of girls in his kitchen eating his food that he pays for. they all were laughing away with taryn catching a glimpse of her father, she quickly got up running over to him. "hey daddy!" she happily said

"hey mr. walsh!!" imani waved. the other girls waved as well saying hello to him. anna came from the back shooting her daughter a confused look. her and rory didn't understand what was going on.

she walked over to them, "we decided to have practice here today." she quickly informed them

anna and rory stared at each other, "come outside with us for a quick second?" anna asked

they all went outside far away from the house making sure nobody could hear them. rory grabbed taryn's wrist out of nowhere causing her to gasp out of pure fear, he gripped onto it making her wince, "dad you're hurting me—-"

"what made you think it was okay to allow these girls to come into my house, hm?" he asked with anger

"i just thought that it would be okay for one day—-" he cut her off, "you thought wrong." he gripped tighter, anna just standing there with her arms crossed

he yanked her closer to him completely towering over his daughter who was shuddering at this rate, her breathing was shaky. "get those wetbacks and negros out of my house, now." he gritted his teeth meaning business

"y-yes sir." she said with him releasing his grip, anna shook her head at her daughter. "you know better." she disappointingly called out

they both stood there for a second with their arms crossed waiting for taryn to go back inside. she had no time to react and ran into the house coming up with a good excuse for the girls to practice elsewhere
