"i don't think this is a good time to be going away rory, especially with rowyn's sudden erratic behavior." anna nervously admitted aloud to her husband who slammed the trunk shut

rory shrugged, "we need this...." he said grabbing both of her hands, she breathed heavily feeling frustrated. trying to desperately call off this trip for days, her husband hasn't been listening to his wife. "this will be a good time for us to rekindle plus have a break from the kids....." he insisted grabbing her tiny waste

a little smile appeared upon her lips, she knew her husband was correct. the two are going to pigeon forge, tennessee for the weekend. they are staying at their luxury cabin deep in the woods with a lake nearby, only the two of them. leaving their two daughters in bardstown.

rory sure as hell is not allowing them to stay with his sister, him and anna have no other choice but to let the two stay with nova. while both don't really agree with her parenting, she is one of the only few people that they trust.

his hands started rubbing her back, "you're right..." anna finally gave him, rory pecked her on the lips. rowyn rolled her eyes getting in the car slamming the door shut, her parents just sighed. taryn eventually stepped inside the car quietly.

rory opened the door for his wife then shut it heading over to the drivers side. anna looked back to see rowyn looking out of the window biting her fingernails. happy to get away from her parents for a couple of days, rowyn was ready for whatever scarlett had planned for them

taryn would never say it aloud, but she is also happy to escape the wrath of rory and anna. she loves her folks, tries to be understanding with where they come from even when their terms are harsh and cold. the perfect definition of a love-hate relationship.

taryn is the odd child, has been even when she came out of her mother's womb. covered in vernix, the nurse pulled her out helping bring taryn sloane walsh into this world. no cry was heard in the delivery room which worried everyone especially the doctors.

they checked on her, smacked her on the butt, everything you could possibly do to make a baby cry... but taryn didn't. when she was handed to her mother, she had the ugliest frown plastered on her face. rory held her and she still looked pissed off. seemed like she wanted to be shoved back into her mother's vagina.

when her oldest sister ellie held her, she was laughing, smiling away... finally showing some sign of life.

the drive to nova's was silent. nobody uttered any words to each other, rowyn was pulling lint off her black leggings focusing on the irrelevant task at hand. taryn pulled a sharpie from her jean pocket beginning to doddle on her white converse sneakers the whole ride.

when rory parked the car, anna turned around to speak to her two kids. "you two make sure to—-" rowyn turned around grabbing her backpack slinging across her chest. she opened the door, slamming it shut running up the porch steps. nova was already standing there waiting for the girls, she happily hugged her then rushed inside

taryn still sat in the car, "be on your best behavior and watch her." anna eyed her daughter with seriousness

"yes ma'am."

taryn grabbed her backpack then got out. nova greeted her happily offering her some sweets she baked that were in the kitchen waiting for her and rowyn who already was sitting at the counter with scarlett. anna didn't bother getting out, she just waved from the car as rory backed out of the driveway. nova waved then headed inside the house.

rowyn, taryn and scarlett were sitting together tearing nova's famous apple fritters up. they are always a big hit and the main topic whenever their church has a bake sale, anything nova cooks or bakes is always a delight

when done eating, rowyn and scarlett headed upstairs to do more research about the juliard camp that is happening next year. they both say in rolling chairs next to each other, scarlett scrolling her mouse up and down while rowyn fastly read the new information that had been put up on the official college website last week

at first rowyn wasn't too interested in it, but now she is. it is too good of an opportunity for her not to take it up. "it says here that while staying on juliard campus that we also will——-" scarlett gasped excitedly reading the next few words, "visit new york university!!! rowyn!! that is perfect!! it is a great art school!!!" she playfully pinched rowyn's cheek getting a tiny laugh from her

she grew excited reading about all the fun activities and things that high school students do on the trip, then her smile quickly faded. "we have to face reality, my parents aren't going to let me go." she claimed sounding sad

"i think i have a way that could work." scarlett said sounding like she had been plotting something up for awhile, rowyn placed her hand under her chin rolling her eyes, "please explain." she shrugged

scarlett took her hand off the mouse, leaning forward clasping her hands together. her eyes meant business looking at her bestfriend, "we tell your parents that my mom and i are going out of town for spring break...."

"we say we are going to the cabins in the countryside of new york, meanwhile my mom will be in a hotel nearby campus. we make sure to take no pictures, i'll make sure not to post any pictures from camp. then boom, we are scotts free." scarlett finalized, her and rowyn began to nod in agreement

"i love the devious side of rowyn." taryn suddenly said scaring the living daylights out of scarlett who fell out of her chair. rowyn mentally cursed watching her sister standing in the doorway. she knew this plan definitely wasn't going to work now...

she rolled her eyes knowing that this plan definitely has ran its course, "you're going to tell mom and dad. i'm already knowing that." she breathed loudly sounding irritated

"i'm actually not." taryn corrected

both rowyn and scarlett titled their heads in sync feeling like they were in a fever dream. scarlett got off the floor goofily scoffing at taryn, "seriously?"

taryn nodded, "it seems like a great opportunity for rowyn. perfect time for her to get better with her social skills, she won't survive out there in the real world if she continues the route she is taking." she was referring to college

rowyn rolled her eyes, the doorbell suddenly rang which taryn took as her opportunity to go into her guest room to unwind. "is that luke?" rowyn took a guess

"i don't think so, him and his mom are out of town this weekend. stay here, i'll go see who it is."

while scarlett trotted downstairs, rowyn pulled out a book beginning to read. she then heard what sounded like scarlett yelling, shutting her book she headed down the stairs to see chase standing in the doorway.

"what are you doing here?" she asked catching all of their attention. they all froze, scarlett and nova turning to look at her

"i just...." chase scratched his head nervously, "i just wanted to come check on you." he confessed not wanting to beat around the bush

"c'mon in chase." nova said, scarlett smacked her teeth, "mom—-" nova dragged her daughter away covering her mouth making sure she couldn't say anymore hurtful things to chase. rowyn walked over into the living room taking a seat, chase sat across from her. they each felt nervous, they hadn't seen each other since the night of that party

there tutoring sessions came to a stop, principal sinclair suggested that rowyn needs a break. october will always be a triggering month so he stepped in telling them both to focus on their own studies for awhile. chase barley even has studied since rowyn has stopped coming over, he just casually sweeps through tests and assignments without putting any kind of effort into anything

his teachers all noticed he is slowly but surely going back to square one which isn't good. his parents are also starting to worry, he has been way more irritable lately. walking around mad as hell at the world, mainly them....

"how have you been doing?" chase asked easing into a conversation.

"i'm fine." she responded

he traced his finger across the velvet couch clearly anxious on what he was about to say, "i know that this is a tough time for you...." rowyn would have normally cut him off but she heard him out before getting angry

"and i'm not about to sit here and say that i totally understand what you are going through because i definitely don't. while i don't know all the circumstances.... i just want to send my condolences to you and let you know i'm sorry for you loss." chase sincerely said

"thanks." she simply said

chase moved onto another subject not wanting to make rowyn dwell on her brother any further. "what are you doing next weekend?"

rowyn hastily glared at him not getting why he wanted to know her future plans, "i'm um——-"

nova came into view clapping loudly, "alright!! we're going to the beach!! we're leaving in ten rowyn!" she announced running upstairs with scarlett rushing to her bedroom to pack a beach bag. when nova let taryn know, she seemed happy about the news

"i'm probably doing nothing, why?"

chase got up suddenly grabbing rowyn's hand. "where are we going?" she asked as he took her outside, he closed the door then walked her down the steps to his truck. she leaned up against it crossing her arms, starting to get impatient

"next saturday, we are going somewhere. i'll meet at the end of your driveway at five a.m sharp." rowyn fixed her mouth to ask questions but chase cut her off, "no questions. just tell me you're in." he said with desperation

rowyn laughed looking at chase like he is a psychopath, "chase i can't just agree to go somewhere with you—"

"yes you can and you will."

"excuse me?" she asked with attitude

chase began to find their conversation comical with how confused rowyn was getting, " just agree that you'll embark on a journey with me."

"why are you so persistent on this?"

chase fired back, "why are you so hesitant? you don't trust me?"

rowyn answered the question with fierceness, "not as far as i can throw you." chase laughed licking his lip very sexily

"just agree——-"

"okay! okay. fine i'll go with you if you will shut up about it." rowyn replied, chase smiled.

"great. i'll see you monday at school." chase said quickly getting into his truck. rowyn went back into the house with scarlett standing on the other side of the door with her arms crossed, "what did he want?" she asked nosily also sounding overprotective

"he just was checking on me." rowyn answered not telling her about the other part. she had no idea where chase would be taking her but decided this isn't the best time to reveal it to scarlett who seems on edge.

rowyn was about to go to her room, "i already packed your things into this bag." scarlett patted the beach basket bag

"thanks." she smiled

taryn and nova came down looking excited, "alright we are out of here!" nova yelled going to turn the living room and kitchen lights off. she also made sure the stove was off and checked to see if all their chargers and such were unplugged.

"i have snacks in my bag and will fix us some lunch when we get to the beach house." she informed the three girls who happily nodded

they walked to the car, nova locked the door then got inside. rowyn called shotgun sitting in the front with nova. they all put their seatbelts on then headed to the beach which was two hours away. when they got there, they had a grand old time.

making sandcastles, watercoloring together, eating some of nova's delicious salmon sandwiches with her infamous creamy dill sauce. it was a fun day. they went to the beach that ronan absolutely loved.

many memories flooded all of their brains. they swore they could even heard his laughter while sitting on the sand. it was a healing moment for them especially the two sisters.
