Chapter Four - Normal Day...?
3rd POV
The morning was like any other morning; you waking up and going downstairs for breakfast. You woke up earlier than usual, which was normal for when you were at someplace new or just when you traveled. The sky was still dim, sun just rising. You yawned, stretching out your muscles.
Throwing your legs over the side of your bed, you stood up and walked over to the lights. The switch was flipped and the lights blinded you. You dropped to the floor, covering your eyes. "Oh my god!" You kept your face hidden under the palm of your hands. Your door was opened suddenly.
"You alright?" It was just Mark. The room was darkened once again just so you could see. You looked up, uncovering your face. You blinked, letting your eyes adjust to the dark room. "Yeah, just blinded myself." You got up on your feet and walked out the room. "Whatcha want for breakfast?" You asked, yawning again.
"Surprise me, oh great one." He even got on his knees and fake bowed to you. You giggled, thinking of the possibilities. "Is Sean up?" You kept walking forward, nearing the stairs. "Pfft, probably not. If he heard all of this s//t." He followed close behind. "Well go wake him up bro!" You excitedly said as you slid down the stair railing, almost falling on your face.
Waltzing into the kitchen, you checked all of the cupboards, the fridge, and the little basket of breads you brought. With the ingredients in the containers, you managed to think of a recipe. The ingredients you snatched were 6 eggs, salt, freshly ground pepper, a loaf of italian bread, half-and-half, and parmesan.
First, you preheated the oven to exactly 375* and lined a baking sheet with parchment paper. Next, you used a small serrated knife to cut 6 holes into the loaf of the bread. The holes were neatly aligned on the top. You made sure not to cut through the bottom of the loaf, ruining everything.
You took one egg and cracked it, letting the insides slip into one of the cut holes. And then you took another, and another, another until all the craters were filled. You topped each egg with ½ a teaspoon of half-and-half and then seasoned them all with salt and pepper. And because you were using the parmesan, you dropped some of that onto each egg.
You carefully grabbed the loaf and gently set it in the oven. Now you just had to wait until it was done baking. The whole process only took maybe twenty or so minutes, so all you had to do was wait for it to be done so you could serve up this tasty dish. So you wouldn't forget, you set a three minute timer. If it wasn't done by then, you would add another three minutes. Silence came from upstairs, it was fishy.
Noticing this, you hiked up the stairs. You knew that Mark went to wake up Sean, but it didn't seem like he succeeded. Then all of a sudden, a loud snore came from Sean's room. Startled, you darted in. But it was only the cutest thing ever; Mark was sitting on the floor, leaning on the side of the bed with closed eyes and a partially open mouth. Sean lay on his bed, covers over his mouth. He was curled up in a small ball, face scrunched up from trying to be awoken.
Abruptly, the timer made the typical 'Ding, ding, ding!' and shook you from your thoughts. "I'll be right back, ladies." You said nonchalantly. Your feet pounded down the stairs and you slid into the kitchen using only your socks and mere balance. You swiftly opened the oven, took out the loaf, burning your hands in the process, and then set it on a large plate.
You took another knife, serrated as well, and cut the bread up into six pieces. You made sure to cut evenly between the spaces. Snatching three plates from the cupboard, you set two pieces on each plate and brought them to the table which was already set up, surprisingly. "What kind of drinks would they like...' You tried to think. 'Do they drink? I could get some wine or something fancy to celebrate this as our first day back together.'
"Smoothies!" You whisper-shouted suddenly. You pulled out your phone and scrolled through the recipes. This was possibly one of the things you didn't know how to make. You had decided on a Kiwi-strawberry smoothie. You kidnapped the ingredients and shoved them into the blender, blending them immediately. You had to make two batches because you wanted everyone to have big glasses but you ran out of strawberries so one tasted just a tad different but still had the same basic taste.
Setting the drinks on the table right beside the delicious smelling food, you ran up the stairs and busted through the door. "Wake up ladies! Time for your training." You had your hands on your hips, acting as a sergeant. Their faces looked hilarious when they were awoken by your extremely loud outburst. "Get up, get up!" You helped Mark get up on his feet and then yanked the covers off of Sean.
"Damn, I didn't know you could be so scary." They pretended to cower in their shoes, not that they were wearing any. You could tell the smell of food was invading their space because they immediately brightened up. "What's for breakfast, sir?" The duo walked out the door, downstairs, and into the dining room all while you followed close behind.
"This is your breakfast for today, soldiers." You all sat in a seat and began eating, savoring every single bite they took in. "How did you make this?" Sean asked. "Out of pig's bootyholes." You said ever so casually, Sean choked on his food, needing to take a sip out of his delicious smoothie. "Well it still tastes delicious." Mark said, continuing to devour his two mini loaves. "I was just kidding Sean." You poked him in his side, causing him to flinch. "Yeah, no s//t. This is f//king bread, not pig's a//holes." He coughed and then continued to munch.
You glanced outside while sipping your smoothie. At first it was a beautiful scene of the brown, orange, red, and yellow leaved trees with very few green ones. The small things littered the ground, leaving a mess for the wind to pick up. But the and there, it wasn't autumn, it was forever burning.
"Not... again." You whispered quietly. Your face shriveled up in horror, just seeing yourself almost being crushed. You didn't know why you remembered these things so you passed it off as a recurring nightmare that was too realistic. But you hadn't had the idea that this had happened to you in the past. "Something wrong?" Mark worriedly asked. You nodded slowly, swallowing hard. "Yes, I'm fine." And you continued to feed on the feast.
Mark eyed you suspiciously, knowing something was wrong. "So what do you guys want to do today?" Sean asked, shoving his last bite into his mouth. "Whatever you guys want. I'm down for anything, bros." You collected the plates and put them in the sink, filling the sink up with warm water and soap. "Don't worry about washing them." Mark took the sponge from your hands and set it down.
"Fine, but I will do them later." You winked. Stretching, you chimed,"Let's go do some fencing or sparring." They seemed to agree. "That actually sounds great. But, I will warn you." Mark boasted,"I will destroy you both." "No way in hell!" Sean abruptly stood up, pumping his fist in the air as a challenge. "I challenge you to a duel." And then and there, Sean and Mark were rivals for a simple game. But you had a trump card which could demolish them both.
You all were in the car, ready to go find the place for fencing. You had some skills in fencing but you also couldn't' punish your opponent with powerful attacks. However, you could evade attacks like it was nothing. Only very few thrusts would strike you.
You didn't know if they had experience with these things so you passed them off as easy opponents. "Around here should be the place. It says around this corner." Mark pulled the steering wheel to left and pulled into an empty parking lot.
"Wouldn't there be at least one car here Oh wait, what does that sign say?" You leaned towards the front, squinting at the sign held up by a nail on the other side of the glass. "Opens at 3pm."Sean read aloud. You all groaned, sighing as well. Mark turned the car around, going back onto the road and continued to drive. "Well now what?" You slumped down in the backseat.
"Guess I can do those dishes now." You gleamed with joy, wanting to clean the hell out of their house. Peering outside the window, you saw a glimpse of a little girl playing outside with her father and mother. You smiled slightly but then looked back forward.
You noticed that in the rear-view mirror Mark's iris had turned blood red, almost seeming to glow. They stared at you, looking through your soul. It sent shivers up and down your body. "Mark?" You asked, leaning towards the front seat. Sean was just looking outside the window. Little did you know that they weren't who they seemed to be.
Mark noticed your odd staring and said in his normal voice,"Something wrong?" He didn't even bother to look at the road, which made you fear for your life. "Shouldn't you be looking at the road?" You pointed to the road nervously. "But I am. There was... there was just a thing behind you." His voice trailed off in a weird manner. Sean suddenly laughed. Mark turned and glared at him, somehow still driving perfectly on the road.
"Shut up, you fool." He spat with venom in his voice. "You're going to ruin it." He whispered just out of earshot. You looked at him confusingly, wondering what the hell he just said. He brushed it off and pulled into the driveway, parking very carefully. "Maybe we could fence here with sticks." You bursted out in laughter from your stupid idea. The two followed along and decided on 'yes, we would.'
So, the compelling trio wandered outside and gathered a stack of sticks and then set them on the grassy floor. "So, I call this one!" You chimed, picking up a dagger-sized stick that was in a spiral shape. Mark picked a stick that was probably as thick as your arm. Sean grabbed a thin but lengthy stick. And that was when the three-way battle began.
You held the small thing like you would a dagger; the blade pointed outwards and held it by the handle. Mark held his like a sword, gleaming intimidatingly. Sean held his sword with both hands directly in front of him, ready to strike at any moment. You had to be wary, they were bigger men with more strength than you.
Attacking would be difficult because that was not your specialty. You watched their every movement. You could tell that you all were waiting for one to strike. The tension was building and got more serious as the time passed. Suddenly, Sean's eyes flashed that glowing yellow-green with the black sclera and lunged towards you. Even though you were prepared to dodge it, Mark jumped in front of you and the two sticks collided.
"How do we decide the winner?" I asked, jumping back to avoid any duel with Mark.. "We'll see, princess." He seemed normal now. Sean was acting like himself again too, although nothing much had changed when it all began. Mark was his normal cheery, adorable self and Sean was his usual energetic, bastard that you had always remembered.
You took your small stick and lightly jabbed Mark in the side. He let out a groan of pain and fell to the floor, all while giggling in the act. "You doofus!" You sat on his back, stopping him from getting up. "Jack, halp meh." He squirmed and acted as if you weighed a few tons. "Try to save the princess and see what happens, little boy!" You held the small stick and jabbed the air, challenging the almighty Sean to a duel. "Let's go bro." \Sean spoke heroically and lunged forward.
You went sideways to avoid the hit but Sean improvised and used his strength to pull the sword sideways, striking you in the stomach. You laughed and fell to the floor in slow motion, groaning in pure agony. "Oh no, you got me." You faked the role of the villain. Sean went over to Mark and grabbed his arm, ready for a kiss. Mark was leaning in and just before their lips touched, Sean yelled,"And scene." The duo stood up and took a bow in their glory of victory.
"Septiplier away!" You sang loudly. "No." Sean stated. "The power of friends!" He had his hands on his hips. You all had a splendid morning and continued doing random things until you were all exhausted and lying on the grass, just staring up at the sky. "Do you think.." You trailed off in a tone of a dreamer.
"Do you think that one day, the apocalypse will happen?" You kept your eyes locked on a cloud in the shape of a cat. "I thought you were going to say something much deeper than that." Mark chuckled, his voice seemed to echo in the silence. "Maybe."Sean whispered. "We'll never know."
Soon enough, you had fallen asleep and involuntarily snuggled up close to Mark, nuzzling his side with your nose. "Beautiful..." Mark had whispered, but this wasn't Mark. "Hey Sean?" ''Mark'' put his arm around your sleeping figure., wanting to keep you close forever. "Wassup bro." Sean's voice had a different tone to it and "Mark" knew who this was.
"Get ready to fall through with the plan. We probably won't have much time., you know. They're strong and they're becoming stronger. We won't be able to keep them in while we do our business for long periods. So, c'mon." 'Mark' slowly got up, making sure not to wake you. Once he stood up, he held your body in his arms, cradling you to keep you asleep.
'Sean' sat up, looking at your sleeping face. "Are you sure, Dark?" He said, his yellow-green eyes glowing even in broad daylight. "Yes, Anti." Dark, the alter-ego of Mark, brought your frame inside and put you on the couch, resting your head on a couch pillow. "I can feel him trying to pry himself through." Anti said, clutching his head in pure agony. "Well hurry up."Dark spat and then opened your mouth slightly. Anti jealously watched as Dark placed his lips on yours, concealing a not-so-mutual kiss. As Dark planted the thing inside you, he gazed into your closed eyes with a lifeless stare.
Anti grew impatient and pushed him out of the way, wanting to savor a kiss of his own. And he did just that, but instead he put more passion into it and kept his eyes close while moving his lips against yours. Dark was already going up to Mark's room to rest and let Mark back out while Anti was still sharing his saliva. He implanted the thing all the while thinking,'You're mine. Not his, not ever his. Only mine and mine forever and ever. And I am yours for all eternity.'
