019 | shut up, bruno

good girl? don't insult her like that.

TWILIGHT BECKONED THE CITY, the soothing night washing away the tears of corruption and chaos. Fire trucks raced all over the place, rushing to extinguish the raging flames tearing into buildings, racing to rescue the poor civilians trapped underneath the rubble. Professional heroes clocked in, using their quirks to salvage what could be restored.

The hero of the day, however, was tossing and turning on the hospital bed she occupied. The words of the Hero Killer rang in her mind, an echo reverberating off the walls of her skull.

Ivette hated to admit it, but his words resonated with her. She understood where his opinion stemmed from, acknowledge that his ideals spoke extensive lengths of truth. This heroic society they lived in was corrupt, classifying and discriminating people based on their quirks, supporting vast amounts of hero schools for their own selfish gain, exploiting the economy with their status, depending too much on a symbol who shone too bright, who was just another human being at the end of the day.

Ivette knew that, one day, when All Might came tumbling down to knees, his vulnerabilities revealed, and his life as a hero expiring, the world would fall into chaos. She rolled onto her side, gazing out the window. She knew that, because of All Might's presence, heroes began to laze around, taking things less seriously than they should have. Crime would skyrocket the moment he resigned, and society would scramble to find a new symbol to rely on, to pin all their hopes on.

But one person will never be enough.

Humans are made to be ruled, she thought, eyeing the argent moon. They need someone to look after them, a faith to pour their mistakes into, someone else to blame. Humans are pathetic creatures, finding everyone but themselves at fault. Such pitiful things.

Ivette frowned. I don't. I want to help them.

No response. Again, Ivette should have expected that from the voice she dubbed as Bruno. Was it because her creator's favourite person called the voice that in an earlier chapter? Who knows?

Guilt churned in her stomach. Agreeing with a villain, well, a villain selected by the world they lived in. Ivette knew she wasn't meant to. Knew that, as a heroas a person ready to fix the broken systemshe wasn't meant to have these thoughts. But who was she to disagree with the one person who held similar views as herself? And wait, now that Ivette thought about it, how could she even recall his words?

The last thing Ivette remembered were two arms wrapped around her, holding her gently to a toned chest. They weren't smooth, nor were they familiar. Her vision was fading at the time, her head pounding with an undoubtable pain. She was bleeding, for kami-sama's sake.

So, why, out of everything she could have remembered, did she remember the villain's words?

"Ugh," she groaned quietly, careful of the people in the beds beside her. "This is hurting my brain."

She reached up, massaging her temples. A sudden pain struck through her, and Ivette winced, emerald orbs glancing down at the bandages wrapping her bare chest and stomach. Her hospital dress was open at the front; Ivette recalled refusing to have the one where her ass was hanging out on display for everyone. Hey, don't get her wrong. She both loved and was proud of the peach she built. But she did not want everyone to see.

Her eyes flashed a brilliant green, her quirk activating at a moment's notice. Her power went to work, transferring the energy around her into her own and using that to mend her wounds.

Feeling lethargic, Ivette let out a silent moan, rolling onto her stomach, pushing her face into the pillow.

I need my vape, she groaned, eyes trained onto the curtains that blocked her view of the other patients, which were just her brother, soulmate and classmate.

All of what? You speak as if you know the future. Bruno, what do you know?

He did not answer.

Ivette sat up, ignoring the pain erupting all over her body, ignoring the desire to just collapse and forget about the world around her.

She shuffled out of her bed, making sure to make as little noise as possible lest the others were sleeping. Walking across the room, Ivette gently urged the curtain opposite her to the side and poked her head inside.

"Sho?" she called softly, spotting her soulmate turn towards her. He laid on the hospital bed, back resting against the headboard, unable to drift off into Soronus' chambers.

Todoroki's lips quirked upwards the instant he saw her. He lifted the blankets beside him, an invitation to join him. Ivette grinned, walking over and slipping underneath. She curled into his side, relishing in the heat emitting off his skin. A wince struck her body, her wounds screaming in pain, but Ivette disregarded it, preferring the warmer side of her soulmate.

"Can't sleep?" Todoroki queried, gently running his hands through her green curls. Ivette shook her head, sighing in content when he activated one half of his quirk. She curled into him more, tangling their legs together.

The two laid there, consumed in their own thoughts.

One of tender affections.

The other of detrimental truths.

Tethering over the line of unconsciousness, Shoto Todoroki and Ivette Midoirya fell asleep in each others' arms, lulled by the synchronised heartbeats, the rising and falling of the other's chest. As morning blessed the world with its harmonious rays, Izuku and Iida rose. The former was surprised to see his twin sister asleep in Todoroki's bed, hers deserted. A smile curled along his lips as he tided it up for her.

He knew he shouldn't be surprised.

She always slept better beside her soulmates.

With the arrival of the Chief of Police, Shoto nudged Ivette awake. She laid behind him as he spoke with the others, hugging the hospital pillowwhich she realised was quite comfy.

It should be, she huffed. I risked my life for the imbeciles living in this city. Who the fuck do they think they are? Asking for a picture in a middle of a crisis? Fucking idiots.

"Ivette," he called, gently poking at her shoulder. "Get up."

"I'm awake," she mumbled, looking over her shoulder. She took in the oversized dog dressed in a professional black suit, his hands nestled into his pocket.

With a roll of her eyes, Ivette returned back to her sleeping position.

She was not in the mood for hypocrisy. Nor was she in the mood to be praised for her actions. Todoroki, Midoriya and Iida had already done their fair share, talking about how they were lucky she came on time, managing to rescue them, yadda, yadda, yadda. Ivette didn't care for it. Nor did she care for the concerned looks sent her way, from both her brother and her soulmate. She could feel their eyes burn into the white of her bandages.

It was just a couple of injuries. She was already working on the healing process. All that would be left by the end of the day were scars. That's it. Nothing to cry and wail about.

Ivette was not looking forward to her mother finding out. Kami-sama forbid that her mother doesn't have a heart attack once she spots the new marks on their bodies. And oh, lord. All Might would be just as bad, if not worse. Berating them for doing the same stupid shit he used to do.

I need a break.

Bruno, if you don't shut the fu

"Ivette?" Hearing her brother's voice, Ivette turned to see them all looking at her.

"Were you ignoring me?" the mutt asked.

"I wasn't," she informed, sitting up. "I heard everything you said."

It's not my fault you aren't worth my response.

She glanced towards the familiar yellow, old-aged dwarf standing a little before the Chief of Police. She recognised him as the retired hero Izuku was interning with. Ivette acknowledged he must have been helpful, seeing as her brother's power had increased since the last time she saw him. She could feel the quirks brimming under his skin, all thanks to One for All's power. It was an interesting conceptsomething Ivette couldn't wait for Izuku to unveil.

"So, then you understand why you must not speak about this situation to anybody?" The Chief of Police questioned. "Whilst Endeavour-san may have given you permission to use your quirk, and as such you will not be punished for it, any mention of Stain: the Hero Killer will terminate that silent agreement."

What a bunch of bullshit respectability politics, Ivette glowered in her head. Fucking mutt is undermining his whole argument. You're bending the rules for us. Fuck your corrupted ethics. Fuck this screwed society.

Her eyes narrowed in on the superior being, his beady eyes staring into the young girl with the knowledge that he was utterly above herboth in height and in status. Fuck your deranged, hypocritical ass. Chase a bone for all I care.

Bruno. Fuck you, too.

And as everyone turned to the green-haired, she exhaled deeply, shaking off her animosity. She knew Todoroki wasn't feeling anything. Her quirk was the ability to transfer energy, and at their fundamental base, emotions were just different types of energy. She could easily direct it away from their bond.

"I don't care. Do as you wish," she replied dismissively, not at all interested. If anything, had the Hero Killer not hurt her soulmate and twin, Ivette would not have done anything to him. He seemed kind, behind his sadistic and evil tendencies.

And thus, with the confirmation from all four students, the Chief of Police straightened his back and bid them all a goodbye. He looked towards Ivette, regarding her with admiration. "Your ability to save the troubled citizens and defeat a Nomu not once, but twice, is something to be proud of. I look forward to seeing you blossom as a hero, woof."

He then left, nodding his head towards the other heroes in the room.

Ivette rolled her eyes and laid back on the bed. She listened as her soulmate tried to crack a joke, lips quirking upwards. Ivette was glad to see him opening up, attempting to fool around with those he saw as his friends. She was also delighted that at least one of her soulmates was getting along with her twin. She would never be able to decide between them.

( she could. it was an easy decision for her )

I wonder how Ejiro and Katsuki are doing, Ivette pondered as she gazed out the window. I hope their internships are going well.

Seated on the green couch in the teacher's lounge, All Might sighed, staring down at his mobile phone. He had just come off of a call with his former trainer, Grand Torino. The two had discussed the Hero Killer: Stain, and how his ideas would influence many people.

"I'm worried about Midoriya-kun's sister," was what the retired hero had to say. "She isn't influenced strongly by heroes; rather, I've noticed it's the opposite."

"I know," the blond breathed.

"Watch out for her. She's strong, really strong," Grand Torino praised. "If she falls into the wrong hands, things will not turn out good, and everything you have done to preserve peace within Japan will crumble."

All Might's heart ached in his chest.

He knew. He knew too well.

His soulmate's daughter, his successor's twin sister. He knew that Ivette Midoriya would be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

And as he glanced to the side, recalling the three presences always beside her, he thought, I just hope her soulmates will be able to keep her stable and on the right path.
