009 | beginning of the sports festival

tell the wolves she's home

THE DAYS LEADING UP TO THE SPORTS FESTIVAL were the same. Study in the morning, train in the afternoon, continue training in the evening (if she was bothered), come home, bond with the family and repeat.

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

For two whole weeks.

Ivette had never been more bored in her entire life.

"It's finally over," she groaned, stretching her arms over her head and smiling at the satisfying pop that occurred.

Kirishima laughed, wiping the sweat on his forehead with the back of his hand. "It wasn't that bad."

"I've never felt more drained in my entire life," Ivette deadpanned, resulting in more laughter from the redhead, something that warmed her to the core. "This sports festival better be worth it."

"It will be," he reassured, extending an arm out for the seated greenette. "It's going to be amazing!"

Ivette's lips quirked upwards. She accepted the help, allowing him to pull her up and into his embrace. Her face quickly scrunched up, and she pushed him away from her. "You stink," she said, disgusted. "Go shower."

"The same can be said about you," commented Bakugo, gulping down water from his bottle. "I can smell your stench from over here."

"Fuck off, Katsuki!"

"I'm only telling the truth."

Ivette lifted her arm, grimacing when she caught a whiff of herself. "Ugh. I'm going to go shower. I'll see you two tomorrow."

The three had been granted permission to train in one of UA's centres, practising late into the evening. With Bakugo watching over her like a hawk, Ivette couldn't half-ass her training. He forced her to push herself to the limits, even though he said nothing.

His glare, she knew for a fact, could make a grown-ass villain weep.

Aizawa had been spot on with her weaknesses, which, essentially, was everything. She spent the better part of two weeks training her telekinesis, slowly but surely increasing the length and duration in which she could hold objects. Ivette found it harder to hold larger objects for more than a minute, but that would increase the more she practised. Her telepathy, Aizawa had said, would improve the more she used it. Right now, she could use it to see inside people's past. Eventually, with the right training, she'd be able to hear their present thoughts and maybe, just maybe, she'd be able to transcend time and use her quirk to see their future. But that was a long shot — a shot Ivette was willing to take.

"If I'm able to see the future," she mused, gaze cast up to the darkening firmament, trying desperately to hear the words shared between the luminous stars, "i'll remodel this world. I'll make it perfect. A place where people can live in harmony."

She snorted.

"What a fucking dream."

And the stars blinked as they watched her cautiously, jealous of the way she shone, yet just as curious.

The entity in her head knew the truth.

She could.

She just needed time.

Time passed in the blink of the eye, and the morning of the Sports Festival arrived. Ivette sat on one of the chairs, her earbuds popped in, music floating in and lessening her boredom. You see, Ivette didn't care for the festival much. A promise to her soulmates forced her to at least try.

Fighting your peers in front of an audience, she thought, pursing her lips. How sadistic are people these days?

Ivette's goal was to correct the broken system, not actually be apart of it (which, by the looks of it, wasn't going to happen anytime soon). Though, she couldn't deny the glee that bubbled beneath her surface. She was ready to rub her victory in that purple-haired guy's face.

"Midoriya."

Ivette glanced to the side, spotting her soulmate standing before her brother.

"Todoroki? What is it?"

Her eyes narrowed in on the aloof dual-haired male. She, Kirishima and Bakugo had picked up in the change of attitude of their fourth mate. He was much more distant, spending most of his time training by himself. Ivette figured that the stress of being the number two hero's son was finally hitting him.

"Looking at things objectively, I think I'm stronger than you."

"Huh? Y-Yeah."

"But...All Might has his eye on you, doesn't he?"

Ivette arched a brow.

"I'm not trying to pry about that. But I'm going to beat you."

"Oh?" sweatdropped Kaminari, leaning on his chair to look at the duo. "Is the best in the class making a declaration of war?"

Kirishima got up, placing a placating hand on Todoroki's shoulder. "Hey, hey, hey! Why are you picking a fight all of a sudden? Not now, we're about to start!"

"We're not here to play at being friends. So what does it matter?"

A flash of hurt flashed across Kirishima's face, his soulmate shrugging him off coldly. Todoroki ignored the emotions seeping through their bond. He needed to focus on winning.

Ivette crossed her arms over her chest, leaning against her chair. She knew precisely why he was acting like that.

Kirishima rose his hands; a soothing grin spread across his face. "Midoriya, you probably shouldn't talk so negatively..."

"Demo, everyone— The students from the other courses are aiming for the top with everything they've got!"

"I WANT TO BECOME THE GREATEST HERO!"

"I can't afford to fall behind." Izuku stared straight into Todoroki's eyes, a serious and determined expression etched into his features. "I'll be going for it with everything I have, too."

A lazy smirk tugged at Ivette's lips. She could feel the irritation from not one but two of her soulmates.

You've matured, Zuku.

She turned her attention back to her phone, leaning back in her chair and scrolling through her music playlist, pride swelling in her chest.

You'll be a fine hero in no time.

With a lengthy and extra-hyper announcement from Present Mic, Class 1-A entered the arena, standing together and walking with as much confidence as they could muster.

Ivette yawned, raising a hand to lazily cover her mouth. Kirishima nudged her side, sending her a narrowed look. "At least try to show some interest."

"I can't help it, Kiri. It's so boring."

"Just try."

Ivette only nodded, a pout on her lips as she begrudgingly shuffled forward. Though, any negative emotion vanished immediately, her eyes landing upon Midnight and her very tight-fitted costume.

"Time for the player pledge!"

A blush seared her cheeks, and her eyes widened. Ivette covered her nose, feeling her bisexuality kicking in ten folds.

Holy shit.

"Wh-What is Midnight-sensei wearing?" Kirishima grew flustered, averting his gaze like the gentleman he is.

Kaminari nodded. "That's an R-Rated Hero for you."

"Is it okay for her to be at a high school even though she's R-Rated?"

"Yes!"

For once, and only once, Ivette had to agree with Mineta.

A sharp pain erupted in her side, and Ivette bit back a yell, emerald eyes blazing into the soul that dared touch her. Furious crimson eyes clashed with hers, and she simply cleared her throat, straightening her back and looking everywhere but at their teacher.

"Quiet, everyone!" Midnight slashed her arm to the right, her flogger following.

Ivette's breath caught in her throat at the sound.

Fuck.

"Representing the students is Katsuki Bakugo from Class 1-A."

Ivette's eyes widened, glancing at the blond who walked up onto the stage nonchalantly, hands shoved into his pocket.

"What? It's Kacchan?" Izuku exclaimed, sweatdropping.

"That guy did finish first in the entrance exam," said Sero.

"In the hero course," sighed a brunette from the general studies class.

"R-Right."

"It's obvious that she hates us," Sero said, shrinking under the glare the girl gave them.

"And it's all Bakugo's fault," Kaminari added. Ivette rolled her eyes, deciding to ignore the blond's comment and instead focus on the other blond that stepped onto the stage. She had a feeling his pledge wouldn't go well.

"I pledge," he started, his voice echoing around the whole arena, "that I'll be number one."

I KNEW HE'D DO THAT!

The crowd and students all booed, pissed off at the cocky blond. Ivette raised her hand to her mouth, hoping no one could see the grin that broke out across her face.

"Why are you doing something so disgraceful?!" yelled Iida, waving his arm up and down, an action he'd do whenever he was confused or annoyed at a person.

"At least become a nice bouncy step for me to jump off of," the blond said, putting his thumbs down before walking off the stage, ignoring all the shouts coming from the other students. He didn't care for them at all. None of their opinions held any value to him, well, most of them anyway. There were only five people who mattered to him, and Bakugo would never admit it, but, other than his parents, Ivette, Kirishima and Todoroki's opinion mattered to him.

Bakugo resumed his spot by Ivette, the green-haired beauty applauding him. "What an amazing speech," she said sarcastically.

Katsuki smirked, lifting his nose in the air. "Just telling the truth."

Even though Bakugo appeared to be cocky towards the other students, both Ivette and Izuku knew that he was pushing himself. The old Bakugo would've laughed when he said his pledge. This just showed that even Bakugo was determined to win this. He knew that he would go up against people who were also strong, and he was more than ready to defeat them.

"Now, let's get started right away." Midnight announced the first game, an obstacle course around the stadium. She explained the game and the rules, and Ivette struggled to hold it together.

Oh god.

She licked her lips.

So hot.

Ivette was mentally drooling over the older woman when, suddenly, her arm was grabbed, and she was yanked into someone's embrace.

"Keep thinking like that, and I'll have no problem taking this to the bedroom," a husky voice whispered threateningly into her ear, sobering Ivette up immediately. She nodded, even more turned on from her soulmate than their teacher.

Shut up.

The obstacle race began, and Ivette, initially, didn't intend to put in her max effort. Her competitive side got the best of her, though.

Noticing the dramatic drop in temperature, Ivette's eyes widened, and she activated her quirk, green mist wrapping around her ankles and elevating herself off the ground.

"Take that!"

"Naive, Todoroki-san!" yelled Yaoyorozu, using her quirk to create a rod for her to jump over.

"I won't let you get away so easily!" growled Bakugo, propelling himself off the ground with his explosions. "You half-and-half bastard!"

Soulmate or not, Ivette thought, skating over the ice with her quirk decreasing the friction on her shoes and the ground, Katsuki will continue with his insulting nicknames.

Spotting Izuku struggling to balance on the ice, Ivette zoomed forward, latching onto his arm and pulling him beside her. Izuku whipped to the side in surprise, eyes wide. He looked up to see his twin sister grinning down at him.

"We can't let them hog all the attention, now can we?"

A grin of his own spread across his face, and he nodded.

"Hai!"

They skated to the front, only skidding to a stop when they saw the robots.

Izuku was on guard instantaneously. "The faux villains from the entrance exam?"

"Shit, you had to fight against one of these?"

"I blew it to pieces," he muttered. Ivette turned to him in astonishment. "But I broke my arm, too."

"Oof."

Not our business. Izuku deserves a quirk. He's going to do better. I know it.

Todoroki froze all the robots, his power overwhelmingly strong. "Holy shit," she awed, her emotions propagating through the bond, something they all felt. Todoroki, if it had been any other time, would've been proud, but now wasn't the time, he reminded himself. He needed to win the race and then the whole competition. He couldn't let himself get distracted.

"He stopped them!"

"Between their legs! We can get through!"

"I wouldn't if I were you," he said, running underneath the robots. "I froze them when they were unbalanced."

Ivette's eyes widened in horror. She quickly extended her arms out, blasting energy out of her body and creating a shield atop of everyone, the robot pieces bouncing off the misty barrier, bringing no harm to any of the students.

"That wasn't very nice, Shoto," she called as the dust dissipated, her barrier being revealed to all to the audience and students, gasps slipping past their lips.

Once everyone was safe, Ivette dropped it and turned her palms facing down on the ground. Her more competitive and playful side came out, and she winked at Izuku, who stared at her in awe.

"See you on the other side, Zuku."

She used her energy to blast her off the ground, eyes wild with mischief and merriment.

Izuku grinned.

She's enjoying this, he realised.

He was more determined now.

Ivette dodged all the other robots, gracefully jumping from head to head, landing on it before launching off, Bakugo hot on her tails. Don't get her wrong, though. It wasn't like Ivette wanted to win the sports festival. She didn't want to declare herself the best. No. This game between her and her soulmates fuelled the fire within her.

She was going to beat them and rub it in their faces.

A malicious smirk spread across her face. Oh, I can picture his irritated face. Images of an angry pomeranian filled her brain, and her excitement doubled.

She dashed forward once she landed on the ground, speeding up to try and catch up to Todoroki, though he was faster. He glanced back, seeing the joy in her eyes, and a smile cracked until he wiped it off his face in order to focus on the race.

"Then what about the second? If you fall, you're out! If you don't wanna fall, then crawl! It's 'The Fall'!"

Ivette pursed her lips, emerald eyes scanning for solutions.

Any ideas? she asked the entity in her head.

An ideal one presented itself, and she grinned, copying Bakugo's style. She crouched down, palms facing backwards and green bursts of energy exploding out of her. She used the momentum to fly across, giving herself an extra boost every time she was close to falling.

"Shit," she cursed, landing on the other side with a harsh thud. "How does he do this all the time?"

One step at a time, bestie. One step at a time.

Ridding herself of any other thoughts, Ivette fought through her fatigue, running after her soulmates and ignoring how her vision whitened and darkened, her head suddenly feeling light.

With her exhaustion, her speed reduced tremendously, but like hell was she going to let Bakugo win. "In your dreams," she muttered, putting her head down and sprinting forward. Ivette knew he'd never let her hear the end of it if he won without so much as a challenge against her.

Just one more area, she told herself. Just one more, and we can take a nap.

A smile ghosted over her lips.

A nap sounds nice.

Their final area was the minefield, and Ivette cursed, continuously looking at the ground to make sure she doesn't step on any of them. At one point, she stepped on a few, and though they didn't hurt, they ticked her off.

"Fuck off," she yelled in irritation, eyes glowing and her hands warped in mist. The ground glowed green, taking everyone by surprise. The landmines, buried deep in the ground, spurted up, dirt splattering all over those that stood close to them.

"Hey! What the hell?!"

"What's going on?!"

"Oi!

"SUGOI!" cried Present Mic, yelling delightfully into his microphone. "AS EXPECTED OF IVETTE MIDORIYA, THE GIRL WHO SUCCESSFULLY SAVED HER WHOLE CLASS IN THE USJ ATTACK!"

Ivette tsked, balling her hands into fists, effectively crushing the landmines closest to her and setting off the ones furthest from her. Multiple pink blasts occurred in the air, momentarily blinding the other contestants. Ivette ignored their shouts, rolling her eyes at the squeals from both males and females.

She wasn't going to make the competition that easy.

A huge blast resonated from the back, and she saw her brother fly forward.

"Class A's Midoriya-kun is in hot pursuit with that blast! Actually, he's taken the lead!"

Way to go, Zuku!

A broad grin spread across her face as she dashed forward, placing her palms behind her and blasting psionic energy to propel herself forward, though her eyes widened when she saw him about to crash down.

I flew just like I'd planned, but there's so much force! And...I didn't think about landing!

"Deku! Don't go ahead of me!"

"The two formally in the lead have stopped trying to slow each other down and are chasing Midoriya! Now that they have a common enemy, they've stopped fighting! The fight's not over yet, though!"

Oh no, thought Izuku, gritting his teeth together. I'm losing speed...! That's not surprising...They'll overtake me in an instant! Thinking about the time I'd lose landing, there's no way I'd be able to take back the lead. Damn it! No! Don't let go! Grab hold of that chance you got to get in front of these two, and don't let go!

He locked eyes with his sister behind him, gripping tightly onto the cord attached to the metal shield. The twins nodded, a mutual agreement settled in their brains.

If I can't take back the lead, then I can't let them get ahead of me!

As she raced forward, Ivette rose one arm in front of her, eyes flashing green.

"GO!"

She used her energy to blast him forward, and with the extra force from the landmines, Izuku flipped in the air, running all the way to the finish line, leaving behind a fog of pink and green.

"WITH THE HELP OF HIS SISTER, MIDORIYA SWIFTLY BLOCKS THOSE BEHIND HIM! WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT? THESE TWO SIBLINGS! MIDORIYA HAS CLEARED THE MINEFIELD IN AN INSTANT! ERASER HEAD, YOUR CLASS IS AMAZING! WHAT'RE YOU TEACHING THEM?!"

"I didn't do anything. They got each other fired up on their own."

"UA SPORTS FESTIVAL, FIRST-YEAR STAGE! WHO COULD'VE PREDICTED THE DEVELOPMENTS AT THE BEGINNING OR THIS CONCLUSION? RIGHT NOW, THE FIRST PERSON BACK IN THE STADIUM IS THAT MAN...IZUKU MIDORIYA'S MADE A HUGE SPLASH!"

Cheers erupted from every corner of the arena, heroes and people alike applauding the green-haired boy.

He won the race.

Ivette's cheeks hurt by the time she reached the stadium, coming in fourth place. She slammed her hands onto Izuku's shoulder, the both of them tumbling to the floor.

"That was epic, Zuku!"

They laughed, panting harshly.

Her soulmates watched with heated glares, jaws clenched and eyes burning holes in their heads.

"It was all thanks to you!" Izuku exclaimed, sitting up and looking down at his sprawled out sister. "Arigato!"

Ivette's grin widened. "Anytime, bro!"
