003 | so much for security at an infamous hero school
she doesn't need a hero.
she is the hero.
PERMEATING THROUGH THE WINDOWS, the sun's soothing rays flitted across the room, swaying idly to the soft breaths of a serene girl resting harmoniously. Songs made by the soft chirping of various birds floated into the room, dancing their way to the divine being sprawled on her bed, tucked under a thick blanket.
The door to her bedroom burst open, and an excited pupp- I mean, boy ran up to her bed.
"Ivette! Wake up!" He shook her awake, a broad grin stretched along his face, the sun opening its eager light to illuminate him, brightening his perfectly aligned teeth. "You're coming with us today!" Izuku exclaimed. "I got special permission from All Might!"
Ivette groaned, tugging the blanket closer to her. "Zuku, it's too early," she moaned, squeezing her eyes shut as Inko flipped the switch beside the door, flooding the room with light.

"Come on, Ivette, dear," called her mother, watching the two fondly. "Your brother has been planning this for quite a while now."
Ivette rolled over, burying her face in her pillow.
"Ivette!"
"Alright, alright. I'm getting up." She sat up, the back of her hand rubbing the weariness from her eyes. "Do I have to go?" One look at her brother had her caving in, throwing the blanket off herself. "At least I get to ditch classes," she muttered bitterly.
Izuku lit up. "I'll wait for you outside!"
"What clothes do I wear?"

Disgusting.
"Whatever you like!"
Ivette rolled her eyes. "That doesn't help, Zuku."
"Wear something sporty," supplied Inko.
"Yeah, alright."
Beginning her usual morning routine, Ivette changed into a plain black shirt tucked into a pair of army green sweatpants. Her choker, like every day, sat around her neck comfortably, the red jewel glinting under the artificial lights.
"I'm ready when you are."

"No way! You're Midoriya's sister?!"
"Twin sister," she corrected, standing beside the group of unique people, her body language displaying her apparent disinterest.
Ivette crossed her arms over her chest, moving away from the group and dodging all the curious queries from Izuku's classmates, as well as the lustful, perverted gazes of a blond and a purple dude.
How vexatious.

"What are you doing here?"
Turning, Ivette caught sight of the explosive pomeranian dressed in his hero costume: a tight, black, sleeveless tank top, with an orange "X" across the middle, forming a v-neck, two dots imprinted along the left line of his collar, indicating the support company that designed his costume. A metallic neck brace laid on his shoulder, rectangular ends impaled with three holes on each side. His sleeves reached from within his large grenade-like gauntlets to his biceps, though he only wore one. His belt, which also carried grenades, held up his baggy pants with knee guards, below which he sported black, knee-high combat boots with orange soles and eyelets.
All in all, Ivette had to admit he looked good.
"Katsuki," she greeted, tilting her head forward. "Izuku forced me." They turned to see him chatting away with his soulmate — who the green-haired beauty met earlier. Ochako Uraraka, a sweet girl with wide, warm brown eyes and bobbed hair. Both soulmates were shy; they found it hard to have a decent talk about their relationship without blushing furiously.
Katsuki scoffed in disgust, and Ivette only laughed.
"Hi! I'm Ejiro Kirishima!" A boy with spiky red hair and a toothy grin stepped forward, wrapping an arm around Bakugo's shoulders. His hero costume was unique and showed a lot of skin, a trait that Ivette didn't particularly mind, especially with his nicely toned abs on display. "It's nice to meet you!"
"Ivette Midoriya." Her eyes drifted to his wrist, recognising the colour of the band. She had heard from Izuku that Bakugo met two of his soulmates — both of them in his class. "Soulmates, I presume?"
Kirishima nodded proudly. "Yup!"
"Izuku told me you had another?"
"Yeah," he replied, turning to look for his third counterpart. Upon spotting him sitting on a bench, he lit up, raising his hand to call him over. "Todor—"
A blaring whistle pierced the students' ears, the sound in question coming from a male that stood and dressed much like a robot. "Class 1-A and other, gather round!" Ivette rose a brow.
Am I the other?

"Form two lines by your student numbers in order to make boarding the bus go smoothly!"
The boy's instruction went ignored, the bus's open layout ruining it anyway. Ivette made her way to an empty seat beside a boy with red and white hair, a large scar covering his left eye. She didn't comment or stare, just sat beside him and popped in her earbuds.
A glance at his wrist told her everything she needed to know. "Bakugo's soulmate, right?"
Todoroki narrowed his eyes, the familiarity in her aura confusing him. Nonetheless, he nodded.
"Yeah."
She turned to him, and their eyes met: her eyes, holding emotions fathoms deep, flickering with thousand hues of green and a small touch of silver radiating in softly swooping arcs, and his eyes, left iris resembling a turquoise jewel and right iris resembling a greying chocolate puddle — sharp yet still full of emotions, not heavy or blunt, just apparent.
Ivette hummed, taking out the earbud closest to the boy. "Wanna listen?"
She was beautiful, pale, and serene. Her eyebrows smooth and thin and angular, as in all antique portraits. Her mouth soft, plump, the same colour as a glossy cherry. Was it because she reminded him of a cloudless blue sky? A valley stretching from both ends of the Earth? An ocean that glittered beneath the sun? Was it because her name sounded like a call to adventure? Todoroki didn't know the answer to his questions, but he nodded, taking the bud gently and fitting it into his ear.
Ivette swiped up on her phone, clicking play on a music app she had. An unfamiliar song flew into his ears, the bass soothing him to an extent. He knew of the music his soulmates listened to, and judging by their tastes, Ivette's seemed to be good — her music taste was similar to Bakugo's.
Todoroki spotted the name situated at the top of her phone. "Vape playlist?" he questioned, eyebrows furrowing curiously.
Bakugo, in the seat before them, scowled. He looked over his shoulder, eyes narrowing on the green-haired girl. "You still vape?"
"Occasionally." Ivette shrugged. "Don't tell Izuku."

Ivette tuned out the entity in her head— she learnt from an early age that he (it?) was like an irritating fly that hovered. She couldn't exactly kill him, so she stationed his existence in a file revolving around background noises.
Beside Bakugo, a purple-haired girl perked up and turned to face behind her. "You got it on you?" she asked, her voice a deep husky sound that kind of took Ivette by surprise, though she had a feeling she was a music-centric girl.
"Not at the moment, no."
The unknown girl frowned but shook it off, reaching over and extending a hand to the girl.
"I'm Kyoka Jiro," she introduced. "It's nice to meet you."
Ivette shook her hand. "Nice to meet you, too."
"What're you listening to?" Ivette named the song, and Jiro blinked. "Damn, that's a good song. What others do you listen to?" she asked, and somehow, time flew by, carrying the two on the wings of conversation.
Bakugo looked out the window, glancing back to see Todoroki dozing off in his seat, lulled to sleep by the music drifting into his ear while Ivette conversed to Jiro about their favourite bands. He covered his mouth with his fist, refusing to let anyone see the smile twitching at the corners of his lips.
That was until Asui, his fellow classmate, commented, "Bakugo's always mad, so he doesn't seem like he'll be popular, though."
"What the hell! You wanna fight?!"
"See?"
"We haven't known each other that long, so it's amazing that everyone already knows his personality is crap steeped in sewage."
"What's with that vocabulary, bastard?! I'll kill you!"
Ivette's face contoured in slight exasperation and slight amusement. "Katsuki," she called, noticing Jiro's discomfort since his yelling interrupted their conversation. "Tone it down."
"Huh? Urusai! I'll kill you, too!"
Ivette rolled her eyes, only aggravating the boy even more.
"We're here," informed Aizawa, already done with life itself. "Stop messing around."
The bus pulled up to a large dome.
"Everyone, I have been waiting for you," greeted the Space Hero: Thirteen. Ivette stood by Todoroki, watching the class awe at the hero in front of them. "Let's go inside without delay."
"Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu!"
When they stepped into the building, Ivette couldn't help the gasp that left her lips. Inside the dome were different types of rescue training areas. There was a mountain, a landslide, a place with collapsed buildings, a water area for a shipwreck, a red dome which she presumed was for fires, and even a stormy area.
"Wow, it looks like the USJ!" commented Kirishima as he, like everyone else, began to buzz with excitement.
"A shipwreck, a landslide, a fire, a windstorm, etcetera— it is a training ground that I made with different types of accidents and disasters. It's called the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, or USJ for short!" Thirteen said, resulting in everyone thinking of the Univeral Studio of Japan.
"Thirteen, where's All Might?" Ivette turned away from the teachers; instead, she looked at Izuku's classmates, watching as excited grins blossomed on their faces. Ivette couldn't help but zone in on Kirishima: his jubilant expression warmed her core. Something about him acting happy brought her own up to the surface. And that confused her to no end. "I guess it can't be helped. Shall we begin?"
Ivette listened to the hero's speech, oddly moved.
How ironic, she mused, seeing as a bunch of villains piled out of the purple warp gate.
Ivette didn't really do anything, allowing the others to guide her. They're heroes in training, after all, right? Uraraka pulled her with her, the instinct to protect her soulmate's sibling strong. She latched onto her arm tightly. "Don't worry!" she said. "We'll protect you."
Ivette held back her scoff.
She could protect herself.

"I won't let you." The guy with the warp quirk manifested in front of them, blocking their exit path. "Nice to meet you. We are the League of Villains. It may be presumptuous of us, but we have invited ourselves into the home of the heroes, UA High School, in order to have All Might, the Symbol of Peace, take his last breath."
Ivette quirked a brow. Ara? How interesting.
"I believe All Might should have been here. Has there been some kind of change? Well, that is neither here nor there."
He speaks weirdly, she thought, tilting her head. Sounds like you, not going to lie.
Ivette snorted silently when the voice never replied.
The villain spread his arms, extending his warp gate. "This is the part I am to play."
Bakugo glanced back at Ivette. Once she was safe, well, as safe as she could be, he lunged forward with Kirishima, attacking the warp gate. All that did was anger him, and he attacked them with his quirk. "My job is to scatter you all and torture you to death!"
Iida quickly grabbed onto Sato, Uraraka and Ivette, plucking them away. Ivette's eyes widened as they looked up at the sphere of dark misty purple enveloping the other students of the class.
"Everyone...!"
Iida and the others remaining on the terrace stood before Ivette, taking her safety as one of their top priorities. Ivette let them, leaning against the railings and watching everything unfold.
She winced as the Pro Hero's quirk swallowed her in half. That must be painful. Ivette had to give props to Izuku's classmates as they worked together, giving Iida a chance to get through the gates and contact someone for help.
All Might finally came to the rescue, battling against the beast the villains brought with them. Ivette sat on the stairs, watching with keen interest how All Might, the Symbol of Peace, fought to save his students' lives.
"That doesn't look good," grimaced Ivette, spotting Izuku's homeroom teacher heavily injured on the floor. Her eyes widened when Izuku was right beside what seemed to be the heads of the organisation.

They all watched from above, and Ivette saw the three other boys intervene to help All Might, saving him at the last minute. Todoroki froze the beast, Bakugo captured the foggy villain under him, and Kirishima attempted to attack the boy covered in hands, but he was quick to dodge.
"You know what, All Might? I'm angry," said the young adult, spreading his arms out. "I'm angry at this world that categorises the same violent acts as heroic or villainous, deciding what's good and what's bad. Symbol of Peace? Ha. You're just a device to repress violence. Violence only breeds violence."
Ivette's eyes widened at his words.
Violence...only breeds violence.
The entity in her head gleamed at the words.
"The world will know this once we kill you!"
"That's preposterous. The eyes of white-collar criminals like you burn silently. You just want to enjoy this yourself, don't you, you liar?"
All Might continued to fight against the Nomu, rapidly punching him with what was left of his lingering power, his wound weakening him immensely. The Nomu kicked his side, the area where his injury lied, and he coughed blood, the last of his energy running out. All Might gritted his teeth, kneeling on the ground and clutching his bloody wound. He tried to remain composed, keeping his infamous grin on display to the kids. He didn't want them to be anymore scared than they already were.

"What a pain," said Ivette, standing up from her crisscrossed position on the ground.
Her movement caught the attention of others, and they all gasped as they saw her walking forwards.
"Oi! Midoriya! What are you doing?!"
"Stop! It's dangerous."
Ivette ignored them all, descending the stairs.
"You know, I've never really liked heroes," she drawled, gathering the attention of those in the centre. All conversations and actions ceased, eyes drifting over to the divinity walking towards the centre.
With hair that reflected the peering glances of the sun's rays and sharp green eyes that brought many to their knees, Ivette Midoriya waltzed into the hostile area with an effortless saunter, imbuing confidence and elegance. Her prominent and rare emerald eyes flecked with a plethora of the colour, glossing over and sparkling like a hundred diamonds under the artificial lights of the abducted simulation joint. Her hair, shades darker than her eyes, leaning more towards the black side, was pulled into a high ponytail, softly curling along the ends.
Ivette continued, "many were fakes, protecting humanity for the sake of money and fame. But, if there's one thing that disgusts me more–" she reached up, moving her hands behind her neck and unclasping the chocker–"it's people like you. People who find pleasure in harming those weaker than them."
Her choker fell to the ground, a familiar warmth running through her veins, body trembling with delight and power.
The entity in her head grinned, sharp talon-like teeth engraved into her mind.
"Did you really expect your plan to work?" Ivette questioned. "You're obviously a spoilt brat with some sort of hand fetish." Her eyes trailed over his body, disgust swirling in her eyes. "And in need of a fucking ton of chapstick," she added, the corner of her lips twitching upwards at the irritation flaring in the boy's body. She stood before him, a few feet away from the group. "It was foolish to think you'd be able to follow through with your plan. The supporting evidence shows it would fail from the very beginning." Her eyes flashed faintly, her mind filling with a substantial amount of information. "Tell me, is it possible you disintegrated your own brain coming up with it?"
Had it been any other time, their lives not in evident danger, Bakugo would've bawled with laughter. The insults Ivette gave were top tier, and he felt pride swell in his chest. However, above all, worry propagated, and he clenched his hands into tight balls.
"Ive—"
"Nomu. Kill her."
The beast complied with its master's orders, crouching and lunging forward, snarling viciously at the young girl.
Gasps of horror escaped their mouths.
"IVETTE!"
Todoroki's eyes widened, spotting her own glow green.
A loud sound resonated throughout the simulation joint, rendering all speechless. Izuku's eyes welled with tears, knees wobbling at the thought of his sister dying at the hands of a monster even All Might couldn't defeat.
As the dust cleared up, a celestial sight showcased itself.
There stood the Nomu with its hand balled into a fist, pressed firmly against a green barrier. Parallel to the beast was Ivette, hair floating in the air, eyes illuminating, and a green mist surrounding her contently. She flicked her wrist, and the Nomu flew back.

They all stared at her in shock, even her own brother.
"I thought you said she didn't have a quirk!" exclaimed Kirishima, heart palpitating in his chest.
"I never knew she did," Midoriya muttered.
"WHAT THE HELL?!"
The redhead's eyes widened, a familiar tingle slithering through his wrist. He glanced down, and the last band glew green, a similar green they saw in front of them. "Bakugo, Todoroki," he called quietly, in absolute awe. The two turned to their soulmate in concern, hearing the change in his tone.
Kirishima showed them his wrist.
"She's our soulmate..."
Their eyes widened. I fucking knew it.
Bakugo's head snapped back to Ivette's direction.
You're mine, princess.
The girl in question stood facing the beast, watching it with narrowed eyes as it rose to its feet. She extended her arm out again, palm facing the Nomu. Her green wisps twirled around her fingers, blaring with silent anger.
The beast growled in pain, collapsing to its knees and clutching its head as Ivette curled her fingers; a light green surrounded its body, the whites of its eyes glowing. The pain it felt could be heard from everywhere, its cries ringing throughout the entire simulation joint, echoing off the walls, flittering into every single ear in the area.
Yanking her hand back, the Nomu's brain ripped out of its head, surrounded by a sinister green mist. Blood splattered across the ground, a rotten smell emitting off the beast. The Nomu fell forward, limp; dead.
"My Nomu!" screeched Shigaraki, running towards the defeated beast.
Ivette rose her finger, wiping away a speck of blood from her cheek. Her quirk deactivated, and she stepped back onto the ground, the green dying out. A sigh escaped her lips. "How disappointing," she said, looking down at the Nomu before looking at Shigaraki and All Might, both of them hearing her muted criticism. She was disappointed that the villains were weak like she had predicted and she was disappointed that the so-called number one hero couldn't defeat a monster the teenager did in just a few minutes — though, to be fair, he didn't have her power.
Shigaraki shook with anger. He stared into her eyes, eyes deep like blackness, black like a catastrophe, catastrophic like silence, silent like howling. "Why you!" He ran up to the girl, screeching profanities.
Ivette simply stepped back, rolling her eyes when the boy was shot in the shoulder.
"Sorry, everyone! Sorry, we're late!" called the mouse president. "I gathered all who were immediately available."
Heroes are so useless.

Ivette rolled her eyes.
You're not even Christian.
As the school's teachers finally dealt with the villain problem, Ivette turned to All Might, who knelt on the ground, watching the girl in awe. Ivette's eyes flashed a dark green before they returned to her normal colour. "Get that fixed," she said, eyes trained onto the open wound on his torso, "otherwise your time as a hero will continue to decrease–" in the eyes of this prophetess, the blond hero witnessed a world burning and wild shadows dancing in an emerald fire; the madness in her was inspiring–"and you'll only become a burden to others."
Ivette left him with her wise words, her voice ringing in his mind, even as he transformed back into his original form, a wall of cement separating him and the other students.
She, who had no desire to become a hero, had just become a hero to a class full of students and an inspiration to the number one hero — the symbol of peace.
The other heroes arrived, and Ivette glanced at the area where her brother stood. She could see all of them looking at her in surprise and admiration, and Ivette knew she was going to get an earful from her twin later — all about her quirk and why she never told him.
Ivette noticed the expression of genuine awe and adoration plastered onto Kirishima's face. She glanced down at his wrist and, to her surprise, all his bands had colour. The one that was previously grey was now green. Ivette looked down at her own wrist and saw that the grey bands were all filled with colour as well: one was a fiery orange, the other a mix between blue and red, and the last band was beige that, if inspected closer, had minuscule hints of black and red.
Ivette recognised it as the bonds she shared with the three.
A bitter taste developed in her mouth, her heart jerking forward as a surge of emotions crashed into her. Ivette didn't like it. Mentally, she was unprepared, chaos erupting in her mind. She was losing control, the grasp on her feelings weakening, allowing them to rise and fall.
Ivette hated not being in control.
So, when Bakugo called after her, Ivette ignored him. Instead, cold, unreadable eyes blazed into his soul, freezing the teenager's bones, the bond implementing itself into his soul bereft of any warmth. He searched those emerald orbs, trying to find something –anything– to give him insight into her emotions. But it was like an ice wall had been raised high, denying him of any access.
Bakugo frowned.
"Ivette," he called again, but she turned around, making her way up the stairs. She grabbed the choker on the floor, sighing when she saw the cracks in the jewel, dropping it to the floor, deeming it useless.
So much for being discrete, she thought bitterly.
Ascending the stairs, Ivette ignored those that walked up to her. She wanted to go home and sleep. That must be my drawback, she mused, feeling the exhaustion seep into her body, muscles straining and energy depleting.
Black dots spewed across her vision, the brilliant rays of the sun momentarily blinding her. "Ivette," called Jiro hesitantly, walking up to the hunched over greenette. "Are you alright?"
Ivette's sight blurred, and the world around her muffled, voices floating over her like wind drifting through the trees.
She turned to look at the purple-haired girl.
"You may want to catch me."
The last thing she remembered was the yell of her name from various people, eyes rolling to the back of her head, vision blackening, and she fell backwards into a pair of muscular arms.
I'm so fucked.
