Chapter Seven

"Tomorrow morning huh?" Clint mused, a smirk crossing his lips as I scoffed at him. "You've got a lot of convincing to do."

"Why? It wasn't you who I stole from, was it?" I snap back, completely shutting him this time before reaching my back pocket and approaching James who was sitting on a high chair by the kitchen counter.

"What's this?" He questioned.

"I'm coming clean, so I won't have to spend time with people like you guys," I answered, fully aware that everyone in this room heard me.

"Whoa, hold on," Sam interjected. "Where'd you get that stack of money from Buck?" He questioned, which also got me thinking as I looked at James with a questioning look.

"Yeah, where exactly?" I followed up as he glared up at me before releasing a sigh.

"I had a job," He admitted.

"What job?" Cap suddenly was interested, as he looked at James directly in the eye.

"Nothing that concerns you," James snapped, walking out of the room after. That was fast.

"Well," I turned my heels to face the rest of them who were on the couch. "Am I free to go?"

Fury arched an eyebrow, "You expect us to let you go that easy?"

Sighing irritatedly, "Well, it was the condition."

"Yes, but you didn't convince us," Stark answered this time.

Rolling my eyes. "I already gave his money back, that's it," I defended, voice slightly pitching up so I paused and took a few breaths. "Look, I'm nothing, I'm just a normal person compared to you guys, what do you even need from me?"

"Which tells us that you aren't just a 'normal person'," Stark retorted.

"What makes you so sure?"

"We have your background, and from what we saw—"

"If I were you guys, I wouldn't even go anywhere near those informations," I cut him off, doing everything in my power to stop him blurting out any word from that file.

"Stark, that's enough," Natalia intervened again, this was her idea after all. "We don't know what she's capable of." She added, eyeing me.

"Are you saying that she's capable of something else other than what's written on her file?" Stark questioned, looking back at Natalia.

"No, the only thing I'm saying is that we don't want push her too much with all these questions. We don't even know if she's telling the truth," She reasoned.

"I agree, we need to do a proper interogation," Cap second.

"Well, whatever you do, any of this should not be known by anyone that is not in this room," Fury followed, looking at Cap. "We must be careful that the authorities does not find out we're holding a—," he paused looking at me up and down as if he'd find a word for me somewhere, "thieft."

Smirking, "dangerous waters you guys," It was a sickening grin that I gave them before they realized that I wasn't going to admit that easy.

"We should just give her up to the cops, don't you think?" Banner finally spoke this time which caught all of our attention, yes, even me. "I mean, she's not an Avengers level threat," he continued, before his eyes was met by the Director, "or... is there anything you guys are not telling me?"

Aw, poor Bun-bun.

All of the Avengers that was in that room shared a look of expression, distinguishing whether to spill the truth about me or they'd wait until... Boom.

I felt a sting from my neck that ran down to my entire body, and I blinked as fast as I could to even try and decipher what was happening, it was so fast, and I couldn't do even the simpliest thing to react, and then I hit the floor.

When I woke up, I barely remember what happened, was it all just a dream? Wait, was I even alive? For the second question, I think I am, as I was for sure, staring at the ceiling, unbothered of my surroundings, it's not like it's much anyway; they've put me somewhere in that compound, with walls so thick that the only thing I could hear was the beat of my heart inside my chest, which  I was thankful for because it had been so long that I've last experienced this kind of peacefulness. So comfortable that I wanted to kill whoever it is that was banging to what I assume was a door.

"Y/n, are you awake?" Came from a voice on the other side.

"She's not," I put a little to no effort to yell, but I'm glad that they heard it because they responded a second later.

"Okay, then who am I talking to?" They replied.

"A ghost from another dimension," I replied and they chuckled, so I rolled my eyes and got up, walking near the door so I could finally see who it was, even though I already knew. "What do you want?" I spat, looking at her.

"We need to talk," She replied and I furrowed my eyebrows.

"I don't need to talk to you so why add 'we' in your sentence?" I quipped, causing her to sigh with a glare.

"You can't be here," She ignored my statement.

"Why? Is it because you don't want them to know?" I teased. "For gods sake! You're the one who insisted that I need to be here."

"No," she denined.

"Then go away and let me be, you're ruining my blissful moment," I emphasized the word I don't usually use, which caused Natalia to furrow her eyebrows this time.

"Aren't you bothered?"

"Of...?" I trailed off.

"Of being locked up inside this cage," she returned, looking behind me for a split second and I did the same just longer.

I shrugged, "if I'm being honest with you, it feels more like a home than a cage," I smiled at her, the one that would irritate her. "So, no, I am not bothered because your so called 'cage' have been my home since I was fucking seventeen years old!"

Natalia didn't blink for morethan she would normally do as she just stared at me in the eye, hearing those words she probably wasn't expecting I'd say — and I wasn't expecting it either, that her eyes glistened with the light reflecting from it. I had never seen her show so much emotions in just five minutes. But I didn't regret any, instead I continued.

"So if any of your friends asked if I was suffering, tell them that I'm abso-fucking-lutely enjoying myself." I chipped her I know I did, cause from the moment I let the last word slip my tongue, she left quietly.

NO ONE'S POV

"Hey, Nat, hold up," Clint jogged from behind his bestfriend, wanting to know what happened inside.

Normally, Natasha wouldn't talk about it to anyone else, but she knew that if she didn't, Clint won't stop bothering her. So, she stopped, let out a few breaths before turning around to look at Clint.

"She's awake," She stated immediately, keeping her tone even as Clint stood a few meters away from her.

"And... did she beg?" He asked, hopefully.

"No," She aswered.

"Did she tell you anything then?" He followed up, and Natasha shook her head in response.

"She told me she was enjoying herself," she mimicked your own words, causing Clint to arch an eyebrow.

"You asked how she was doing?" It wasn't a question, instead it sounded more of like he was pointing out something Natasha was aware she had done.

"No, and I swear if you tell anyone about this, you'd be dead before you even had a chance to," She finished, leaving no room for Clint to tease her even more as she turned and walked away.

"You can't kill me, I'm your best friend," He replied, but Natasha dismissed him. "I'm guessing we're having an interogation then?"

"Yup."

An hour later, Clint was escorting you out of your so called home-cage, constantly telling you to walk as he stayed behind you, making sure you weren't doing some funny businesses along the way.

"Am I getting executed?" You wondered outloud, slightly peeking your eyes back at him.

"Does it matter?" He questioned back.

"Yes," You answered, slowering your phase so you'd be walking next to him instead and he let you. "Atleast warn me or give me a sign so I could prepare and have time to choose what my coffin would look like; if   I wanted it black, or gold, or maybe transparent so everyone coud see me, wouldn't you want to plan your funeral?" You were being sarcastic but he didn't to know that, the important thing is that you get him to tell you where he was taking you without exactly asking him.

Clint side glanced you for a moment just to see if you were even serious, and when he confirmed that you were, in fact, being serious, he swallowed thickly.

"You're not getting executed," He assured. "And please walk faster."
