Chapter Eleven
NATASHA's POV
The killer of the General's Daughter over seventeen (17) years ago had been escaped and missing for months now.
"Dreykov?" Fury states, a crease on his forehead.
"Yes, his first daughter before Antonia," I answered. "She was three years younger than Y/N back at the Red Room."
"And Y/N's responsible for her death, the cause of her misfortune in jail?" Fury added, and I nodded my head, thinking it'd be best to keep my mouth shut rather than say something he'd never drop asking about. "Were you there when it happened?" He followed up and the redhead just stared at him.
Flashback
"It's her fault," I yelled, pointing my index to the girl who was standing at the end of the room. She was shaking, even though it was not the first time she had seen a dead body in front of her. The moment she heard my name she looked at me immediately, and my voice felt like it was going to break as I added. "She did it!" I lied through my teeth, even though I knew I wasn't supposed to lie to the policemen, but what else would I do? They couldn't help me if I told them the truth. Y/N glared at me, a sour look on her face. She always did that face every time she defended herself.
"Take it back, I didn't do it," she pleads. I knew her far enough to know that she was scared, and she wanted to cry, but I also knew that she was good at hiding them, but I think this time she didn't hide them for a reason. I knew from that moment the only girl I had ever been friends with was going to hate me for the rest of her life, but it was fine if it meant that betraying her would keep her away from this hell hole place.
"Don't believe her officer, she's lying, she killed the girl," Was my last statement before they took her.
End of flashback.
"Let's just say that I traded her from another cage to another less cruel." I gave a simple answer to his question and he hummed in response, thinking.
Clint was staring at me that time and I looked back at him, giving him a small nod and a smile, showing him that I was fine.
"Barnes mind telling me how you ended up taking her to the jail then?" Fury looked at Bucky who was sitting at the end of the table.
"I was called to escort her after her trial which she was found guilty," he paused glancing at me. "Natasha testified that day and she won. She knew my sister was innocent but she continued to lie in front of the judge." Bucky had his jaw clenched at me and I stared at him.
"What are you saying, Sargeant Barnes?" Fury addressed, picking up the tension in the room. "That there's a third party to this?" The room fell into silence as if Bucky was waiting for me to tell Fury what happened.
He looked at Fury. "Yes, there is, sir," and I let him say the truth. "It's also a girl, older than Natasha and Y/N. She graduated the Red Room before Natasha did, but they kept the girl a secret."
"Is this true Agent Romanoff?" He turned to me now and I gave a quick glare at Bucky.
Swallowing the lump in my throat. "Yes, sir." Bucky was glaring at me and I glared back at him, goosebumps running down my spine as I watched him spill everything that I tried so hard to bury in the past. "You always have to say what wasn't supposed to, don't you?"
Bucky scoffed. "Natasha, do you even hear yourself right now? You put my innocent little sister in jail, and I've kept my mouth shut for years, and now look where it got her now? She grew up to be the criminal you painted her to be!"
"It was a mistake, I know that now, but you know what, I'm glad that she was in jail because if she wasn't I don't think she could've ever survived in the Red Room." I quipped.
"You don't get to say what my sister could and couldn't have survived with." He stood up from his chair, putting an end before we could say hateful remarks to one another, and then he left.
Taking in a deep breath, Fury met my eyes, a silent understanding on his face.
"I know you both have had a rough patch for who knows how long, but I think you both should keep it aside for now." He ordered. "Our priority right now is to find the third party before Y/N does, who knows what she'd do if she sees the verdict first."
