Imagine being super ill and not getting any better, then losing hope and thinking that God abandoned you. Then your best friend comes and helps you regain your hope.

You were sitting on the hospital bed with tears running down your face every now and then. It was close to the middle of the night and your brother, Joey, and his friend, Spencer, were asleep. You weren't getting any sleep at night because you were scared that you would never see your friends and family again. So you stayed up as long as you could with the occasional nap every few hours. You had been sick for several months now and you were starting to lose hope. It felt like God had forsaken you. You looked at Joey. You were gonna miss him when you passed. Then you looked to Spencer. You were gonna miss him to. You started crying, but tried to keep it down so you wouldn't wake them up. But unfortunately Spencer had woken up. When he saw you, his eyes were filled with sadness. He walked over to you and wiped your tears away.

"Why are you crying?" He asked quietly. You looked into his eyes and started crying a little more.

"Just thinking...of how much....I'm going to miss...you..when I d..die" you said barely above a whisper. He looked at you sadly, then leaned down to give you a comforting hug.

"It's going to be ok, I'll stay right by your side. No matter what just know that God is in control" he stated and you rolled your eyes.

"I'm pretty sure God abandoned me. He's not helping me get better" you mumbled. Spencer looked at you like a sad puppy. He bent down closer to you.

"Please tell me you're not giving up. (Y/N) you are stronger than this and I know you will get better. You just have to trust God and know that what He is doing has a purpose" Spencer whispered. You looked at him with no emotion in your features. You looked down as a tear scurried down your cheek. You felt two fingers lift you head up.

"Trust me, (Y/N), God knows what he is doing. Don't lose hope, cause He is in control" you smiled.

"Ok" you stated quietly. Spencer walked back to his chair, but you stopped him.

"Can you stay with me" you said, but then realized that it sounded weird.

"At least until I fall asleep" Spencer smiled and walked over to the left side of the bed. He laid down beside you and put his right arm around your shoulders. You leaned closer to him and closed your eyes. Spencer started singing the chorus a song that you knew very well.

"In the eye of the storm,

You remain in control.

In the middle of the war,

You guard my soul.

You alone are the anchor,

When my sails are torn.

Your love surrounds me,

In the eye of the storm"

By the time he had finished the chorus you were almost asleep. You felt him kiss your forehead.

"You're gonna be ok. God is in control" and just like that you were asleep.
