Wooyoung knew his leg was most likely broken with how much it hurt. Having it trapped beneath a giant slab of cement would do that...
But he pushed through it to twist around and start digging Mingi out from the rubble. Yeosang was right next to him pushing and pulling whatever he could.
"Mingi?" Yeosang called out. "Mingi can you hear me?!"
The thief was still a few feet away. From what Wooyoung could see it didn't look like his body was trapped like he had been, there was just a wall of cement pieces in their way.
They worked together until they reached Mingi. Yeosang leaned forward to shake him. "Mingi, Mingi!"
Wooyoung hissed and reached back to grab his right calf. Then he winced. Yup... There was something protruding from the front of his leg just below his knee...
"Are you ok?" Yeosang glanced at him.
"Fine." Wooyoung ground his teeth together before sliding down further to hook his arms under Mingi's shoulders. "Help me pull him out."
Yeosang grabbed Wooyoung around his waist and pulled back with all his strength, dragging both Wooyoung and Mingi with him.
Stones clattered around them from all the movement, and for a moment Wooyoung was worried it would cause the uneasy pile to collapse. Thankfully it didn't and they were able to lay Mingi down next to where Jongho was still laying unconscious.
He was surprised to see Yunho was there too. The driver must have dragged himself over after San had left his side.
There was so much going on, Wooyoung was having a hard time keeping everything straight. But he did know one thing, this leg was going to make him next to useless.
"Stop him!" He heard San yell.
Wooyoung snapped his head to the side and saw Seonghwa dive to tackle his father to the ground. The two of them started to roll around on the floor. Fear for the older sent a rush of adrenaline through Wooyoung and he started to push himself off the ground.
"Where are you going?" Yeosang asked. He gasped and grabbed Wooyoung's hand. "Youngie, your leg! Stop!"
The younger just shook him off and started to hop forward one one leg. He wasn't going to let anything stop him from helping Seonghwa. And he definitely wasn't going to let history repeat itself...
"Wooyoung!" Yunho called after him. His name seemed to echo in the room and because of that, Seonghwa lifted his head up and looked around with wide eyes.
Unfortunately this allowed Mercer to slam his fist into the side of Seonghwa's head, sending him rolling off to the side. There was a look of regret on his face, but he grunted and stood up to survey the room.
"It's no use!" San growled, coming forward holding a few knives in his hands. "There's no way out, it's all collapsed. You've lost!"
Mercer turned slowly to face the man he used to hold prisoner with fire in his eyes. "You can't win. You know this San. I control you. I always have. You're mine!"
"Not anymore!" San stood up straighter and tilted his head back. A dark look crossed his face that Wooyoung recognized from when San truly had been controlled. It was from a time related to the darkest memories of his past and it made him freeze. "You will NEVER control me again!"
Mercer laughed and shook his head. "Oh but I do. I created you! I sculpted you, molded you into the perfect killer. Just because I can't get into your mind right now doesn't mean I don't OWN you."
Wooyoung ground his teeth together and looked down.
His eyes fell right to a handgun poking out from the rubble.
A fog fell over his mind the instant he bent down to pick it up. All the pain was gone from his body and the only thing he could focus on was picking up the gun.
It was so easy to do it too. All he needed to do was bend over. It was heavy in his hands, as if trying to tell him the gravity of the situation.
The gun molded to his hand perfectly as he lifted his hand up and aimed straight at the man who had ruined his life.
Mercer was still snarling and yelling at San, who was gripping the knives in his hands like he was about to attack.
Wooyoung could end it all right now.
Just one pull of the trigger.
His hand shook as he went to line up the shot.
Mercer was right there.
He could do this!
The bang that came from the gun was deafening and Wooyoung was not ready fro the recoil. His arm jerked back and the gun flew from his hand at the same time Mercer cried out in pain.
It took a moment for Wooyoung to regain his senses. His had felt like it was numb but burning at the same time.
Slowly, oh so slowly, his eyes fell to where Mercer was standing with his right hand pressing against his left shoulder. Blood stained his clothes around the wound and his shoulders heaved with the deep breaths he was taking.
But he was still standing.
Wooyoung had missed.
Mercer snarled and pulled his hand away to look at it. He rubbed his fingers together, smearing the blood around as it it meant nothing to him.
Wooyoung thought he heard talking behind him, but the only thing he could focus on now was the man in front of him.
Then Mercer bolted.
He ran forward and slammed his shoulder square into San's chest. The boy went flying backward into the pile of cement, a high pitched scream of pain escaping him on impact.
When Seonghwa tried to make a grab for his leg from where he was laying on the ground, he whipped it back and kicked Seonghwa's face. Blood erupted from his nose and Seonghwa curled into himself.
Wooyoung could do nothing but watch as Mercer ran for him. Even if his leg wasn't broken, he didn't think he'd be able to run anyway, not with how his body became paralyzed due to years of being the man's slave. It was an instinct. And one Mercer knew he could exploit easily.
Within a matter of seconds, Wooyoung was on the ground with Mercer sitting on top of him, straddling his waist.
"Oh my boy." Mercer purred with a deranged grin on his face. He lifted his bloody hand and dragged it across Wooyoung's face, making him clench his eyes shut and whimper. "So pathetic, you can't even kill me right."
Wooyoung turned his head to the side, or tried to, but Mercer grabbed his jaw and forced his head back.
"We are going to have so much fun together. You and me. Jus like it used to be."
No...
He didn't want that.
Wooyoung dug down deep to try and find any ounce of strength he still had left in him, then twisted his body to throw Mercer off him.
The pain that came from his pain was enough to make him scream in agony, but at least he had knocked Mercer off.
That is... until tow hands closed around his throat.

.
.
Mingi woke up when he heard a blood-curdling scream.
It was sudden and jarring, but it was like the scream had awoken every nerve in his body and he sat up quickly.
"Mingi!" Yeosang cried out and cupped his face. "Thank god you're ok!"
The thief blinked several times, then took Yeosang's hands in his own. "Wha-"
"There's no time." Yeosang jerked his head to the side and Mingi turned to the fallout of all their destruction.
Yunho was next to him with Jongho's head in his lap. There was still foam around Jongho's mouth but it looked like he was just sleeping now, and Yunho looked pale but otherwise in the same condition he was in when they arrived.
San was laying back on the pile of concrete holding his side and looking like he was having a hard time sitting up.
Seonghwa had his hands cupped over his nose while he was trying to get on his feet again, but he swayed in place and had to place one hand on a pillar next to him that was still partially intact.
Then his eyes fell on where Mercer was choking Wooyoung. The boy was white as a ghost, except for the blood smeared on his face, and trying to claw at the man on top of him. But it was no use. He was losing the fight.
Mingi started to push himself off the ground and hissed when he remembered the pens embedded in his side. If he was still alive they must not have punctured anything vital, but at this point he didn't care.
He had to get to Wooyoung.
"Mingi, no!" The most beautiful voice said next to Mingi and he turned to see Hongjoong reaching out to him. The older threw his arms around Mingi's neck and held him tight. "You can't, you're h-hurt."
"Joong." Mingi sighed. He wrapped one of his arms around Hongjoong's tiny waist and held him so tight, he never wanted to let go.
But he needed to.
Mingi turned his head to side and kissed Hongjoong's cheek before pushing him away. "I love you."
Then he was running forward, his eyes locked on Mercer and the last man he vowed to ever kill. Mingi's roar drowned out the screams coming from Hongjoong, begging him to stop.
It broke his heart to run away from the love of his life. If he could, Mingi would take Hongjoong and run from here so they could spend the rest of their lives together without a care in the world.
Oh how he wanted that...
But he wouldn't let anyone else die either. It was his fault they were here right now. He convinced them to join him on this venture and they had followed him.
Mingi knew that if they survived, he would spend the rest of his life earning the trust they had so willingly bestowed on him.
Two more long strides send him straight into Mercer, who he tackled and rolled across the debris with.
They were both wounded, so there were several hisses and grunts of pain, but within seconds they were back on their feet and swinging their fists at each other.
Mercer was down one arm and Mingi knew he could use that to his advantage. Hopefully... His foe was cunning, though.
The man was able to dodge each of Mingi's punches with ease, and the pens in his side were slowing him down. They hurt so damn much.
Mingi could feel himself growing weaker, but he would be damned if he let Mercer lay a hand on anyone else in his family.
Hongjoong was still calling out for him, yelling so loud that his voice cracked.
For a moment, Mingi thought about running back to him and letting someone else finish off Mercer.
But then Mercer kicked a larger piece of cement at him.
Mingi dove to the side and sucked in a breath when he heard it break against something, smaller pieces of debris flying everywhere as a result.
"You can't win this!" Mercer roared. The entire front of his suit was stained red from the wound in his shoulder. He was losing blood, and fast.
But so was Mingi. All the moving around had forced the pens in deeper.
It was now or never. Mingi looked around for anything he could use for help. He noticed. A weak spot still in the ceiling, supported by a crumbling pillar. He didn't know how, but he knew that if he could knock that over, the spot where Mercer was standing would be covered in cement within seconds.
He looked over his shoulder, needing to see Hongjoong once last time.
The older was in the process of running forward to help him.
Mingi just shook his head before charging at the pillar and ramming into it as hard as he could.
The ceiling collapsed instantly, covering their small section in more cement. Mercer was covered first, crying out as he was pummeled again and again.
Mingi used the last of his strength to stand up again. He turned to face the other way, once more finding Hongjoong, who had stopped running for a mere second.
The smallest of smiles crossed Mingi's face. He lifted his arm up to reach out for Hongjoong while stepping forward.
Then was buried once more as the ceiling finished caving in.
