When the doctor finally came by, Yeosang and Seonghwa where with him while he did the inspection.

"Not mad for your skill set and the tools provided." Dr. Kim said. "Especially with what you've done with San here. I'm impressed."

Yeosang nodded gratefully. "I'm a quick learner, but if there's anything you suggest...".

Dr. Kim bent over and peeled back San's hair again so that he could see Yeosang's handiwork. "No it looks like it's deep enough, and the component you installed fits almost flush with the skin so it won't be a hindrance."

"I didn't want it to be, but he would have been too dangerous if we didn't do this."

"You say there's a chip implanted in his brain that controls him?"

Both Yeosang and Seonghwa nodded. "My father did it." Seonghwa said. "He has the main control with him and the Pack and... it works almost like a switch. When it's on, my father can control what he does."

Dr. Kim hummed and pulled out the chip. "And this is your way to block it?"

"Yes." Yeosang said. "If you'd like to run some diagnostics on it you can, according to Seonghwa, as long as he's asleep he will be fine. And he will stay asleep for as long as we want."

"I think I will. Just to make sure you didn't miss anything." He winked at Yeosang and went over to the computer.

Yeosang sighed and watched as Seonghwa leaned over San and gently ran his fingers through the younger's hair. "Are you alright?"

Seonghwa's eyes dropped down and his shoulders slumped. "I don't know. I- I'm so upset with myself. How could I let this go on for so long?"

"You didn't know any better. Your father is an intimidating man. I wouldn't want to cross him either if I was in your shoes." Yeosang said gently. "San will forgive you with time. If Wooyoung could, then San will."

The older nodded a few times without taking his eyes off San. "Sometimes it felt like we were all each other had. When San wasn't under the control of my father we... Not that it matters now. But it always felt like we were searching for something." He let out a breathy laugh while moving his hand to caress San's cheek. "I really did, and still do, care for him."

Yeosang placed a hand on Seonghwa's shoulder and squeezed. "He knows. This has all been a lot for all of us. We just need to take things slow and decide what we are going to do next. And if it felt like you were searching for something I'd say you both found it."

Seonghwa looked up with a crooked smile. "Yeah, I suppose so. I never thought it would be Woo though. He was right in front of me the entire time... I'm going to spend the rest of my life trying to make this up to him..."

"You can't do that to yourself. You didn't know." Yeosang stressed. He wasn't sure what else he could say to convince the older of his words.

Seonghwa just nodded once more. "Let me know when there's any news." He mumbled before leaving the room.

Yeosang watched him go, then turned back to his mini work station he had set up so he could keep watch over his injured friends.

He tapped enter a few times to scroll through the cameras around town. So far, there was no sign of any Pack activity since the ambush on Yunho and San. That worried him... but at the same time it also made sense. The Pack had taken heavy losses at the hands of their team, and with Seonghwa heading the fight, that had to do a lot of damage to them mentally too.

The real question, though, was what were they supposed to do now? With two members seriously injured, there was no way they could continue to fight the Pack.

Yeosang started running his tongue over his lips from nerves, then realized he had forgotten his suckers in his main office. He knew his addiction to them was bad, but it had been what stopped him from licking and biting his own lips until they bled.

"I'll be back in a few minutes." He said to Dr. Kim, who just waved a hand in response and kept staring at his screen.

After leaving the medical room, Yeosang made his way to the surveillance room that Hongjoong had let him take over. He figured he would take this chance to also grab another monitor to hook up. It would make him feel so much better if he could just set up with the others to keep watch over them.

"Sangie?" A soft voice said from behind him, making Yeosang's heart sink a little.

He turned around to see Jongho looking down at the ground and fiddling with his own fingers in front of his stomach. The younger looked incredibly upset... and Yeosang knew why.

They still hadn't really spoken since the fight, and the past several hours had been them falling into their old routine of Jongho helping Yeosang with whatever he needed.

"You were amazing today." Yeosang offered. He still couldn't bring himself to smile, for he was still mad at the younger, but he knew he would get over it eventually.

Jongho looked up at him with big eyes. They glistened with the beginning of tears that it looked like he was trying to hold back. "Thanks." He sniffed a little. "You too, as always."

Yeosang closed his eyes and shook his head. "Look, Jo-"

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything. Please forgive me. I hate this so much." Jongho took a couple of steps forward and extended his arms like he wanted to reach out for Yeosang, then brought them back to his chest to keep playing with his own fingers. "I know I was being childish. I just... I don't know what to do."

"You need to trust me."

"I do!"

"Then why do you keep doubting me? Why do you keep doubting this?" Yeosang motioned to everything around them.

"Because I just want to make sure you will always be safe." Jongho said, almost yelling the answer at Yeosang. "Because we had a good thing going for us that is ruined now. They probably know everything about us, we can never go back to our old life."

"Well maybe I don't want to." Yeosang snapped. "Did you ever stop to think about what I want? Or why I'm doing all this?"

Jongho's mouth opened a little but he stayed silent.

"I loved our old life together, you know that. But you have to admit, it was... empty, compared to what we are doing now. We did the same thing every day, just with different targets. And sure, we'd attack affiliates of the Pack, but we can actually make a change now! And I know you think all of this is ridiculous, but I believe Mingi's story. And I believe it even more after watching how well all of you worked together out there. I don't know what the future will bring for us, but I'm glad to have this time together now. We've never been around people like this before, and I like it." Yeosang did his best to keep his voice calm and steady, but he could hear that he was almost pleading by the end.

Finally, the words trapped in his heart had come forward. He felt important here, and needed, and like this is where he was meant to be. And he knew that Jongho was meant to be at his side, but he couldn't force the younger to do anything.

When Jongho looked down again, Yeosang took a deep breath and continued. "I don't know what the others think, and this may not matter to them in the end, but I feel like... we could actually be a family of sorts when all this is over. I'm not expecting anything, of course, but... It's been you and me for so long, Jongie, it's nice to be needed by others too." He paused for a moment, and when Jongho still didn't speak, Yeosang started to turn away again. "I can't make up your mind for you. But I'm staying. The choice is yours."

"So..." Jongho's voice cracked and his face scrunched up in pain. "You'd really toss me aside... for them?"

Yeosang didn't like hearing those words. They broke his heart that that was what Jongho thought of himself. "No. I'm not tossing you aside. I love you, with everything I have, but I'm just staying that I won't force you to stay if this isn't where you want to be. They need me."

"I need you!" Jongho yelled, dropping his now balled up fists to his sides. "I've always needed you! I can't believe you would even think I'd want to willingly leave you! Do I mean that little to you now? Are you just going to go and replace me with these strangers all because we used to know them? Oh, wait! Maybe you will! Because you were quick to toss me aside back then too! I get it now, I'm nothing to you!"

"Jo-"

The younger didn't give him time to finish speaking before he spun on his heels and ran down the hall. Yeosang was left speechless and sinking to his knees with a shattered heart.

Jongho meant the world to him. He hadn't meant to make the younger feel this way... and it made him realize that maybe he was being selfish.

Everything was so messed up... What was he supposed to do now?

He stayed in the middle of the hall for several long minutes before picking himself up and walking back to the lab. He couldn't even remember why he had left in the first place now, but he at least knew this is where he needed to be.

Dr. Kim greeted him right away and hurried over. "This is outstanding technology. I can't believe you were able to create this! Have you thought of a career in-"

"No." Yeosang said, cutting him off. "I just like to tinker. I'm happy here."

"Well Hongjoong is lucky to have you as an ally. You're going to do great things, Yeosang. I really don't have many notes on it. I'm sure you're already planning on tinkering and upgrading it along the way, but I'd recommend a more durable metal when you do, just in case. Also, add something to repel magnetism from the outside, I know that's how you have it situated in his head, but you want to make sure no one can come by and pull it out easily."

"Oh, I didn't think about that. Thanks." Yeosang mumbled, looking down at the chip when Dr. Kim handed it to him. "I figured it would be strong enough to just stay in."

"Better safe than sorry." The taller shrugged and walked over to Yunho. "I also applied a quick healing salve I have to both of them. They still have a long recovery, especially Yunho, but it should hopefully speed things up a little bit for you. And Hongjoong put in an order for it as well as some other medical supplies. I'll try to get that delivered as soon as I can."

"Thank you."

"Don't thank me yet. Just do whatever you can to take those bastards down, ok?" The doctor gave him a grave look. "There's plenty of us out there who hate the Pack. Hongjoong has done a good job at bringing us all together, but by the sounds of it all of this is falling on your team's shoulders. We we all help you however and whenever we can."

"There is one thing that I don't know if anyone has mentioned yet, can you look into what happened to Yunho's car? He put so much work into it..."

"Hongjoong did, one of our colleagues has already collected it, disguised as a scrapper to keep the Pack off the scent, and has it at his garage. He will get it fixed up as soon as possible, but I'd keep it off the roads."

Yeosang nodded, already know that's exactly how the Pack was able to ambush them. But if Yunho could wake up to some good new that would help ease the recovery.

Dr. Kim patted Yeosang's shoulder a couple of times before gathering his things and leaving with the promise to come back soon.

The hacker stepped up to San and slipped the chip back into place so that he could monitor how it was doing while San slept.

He turned back to his computers and sat down in his chair. After pulling his knees to his chest, Yeosang sighed and prepared himself for long hours of keeping watch.

All while doing his best to keep his heart-sick wandering mind under control.
