This Isn't A Dream?

You woke up slowly, opening your eyes to the harsh light. Light streamed down from the sky, directly onto your face. You groaned, spreading out your arms, feeling the soft blanket beneath me that felt like grass and moss.

Wait a second.

Slowly, you felt the stuff beneath you. It felt springy, like ferns, with a hint of wetness to it, like moisture. You sat up, stunned looking around as your vision slowly came into focus. You were surrounded in long grass and ferns, that filled a clearing, tree towering above with the distant call of birds somewhere above me, amongst the thick green branches that wove from tree to tree. Meanwhile, you just sat there, trying to understand everything you was taking in.

"I'm dreaming..." you murmured to yourself, thinking you was still asleep. '

"I'm still dreaming. I'm still asleep."

But then, why did it all feel so real? Your brain was moving the same speed as an old computer, trying to process everything your eyes were taking in. You remembered back to a discussion our class had in science, biology a few weeks back, about how your brain was entirely capable to create ultra-realistic dreams, where you felt like you were awake, but you weren't.

You struggled to remember what these dreams were called. Real dreams? No that just sounded weird. Wait, Lucid dreaming! That was it!

Am I in a Lucid Dream? You thought, touching the grass around you. It all felt so real. The forest around me was hot, and humid, and you could feel the sun -beating down on my back, shining through the tree canopy.

Everything clicked. Everything felt so real, but what if it was real after all. What if this wasn't a dream? Slowly begining to panic, you got up, stumbling, crashing through the undergrowth, getting multiple spider webs caught on you in the process, but you didn't care. You just ran. Breath coming out in pants, as brushed aside ferns and shrubs, and dodged looming trees.

Suddenly, the ground dropped away in front of you, and you only just managed to stop yourself from tumbling over the edge. You looked up, still panting heavily, as you weren't in the best physical shape. You looked up to a sight you would never have expected.

A city that looked like it was straight out of a history book lay spread out, amongst the thick green jungle that surround it and you. You looked closer. There were hundreds of different figures, walking around on the busy streets and paths of the city, but as you looked closer, you noticed something was off about the people below, but you brushed your doubt off. You decided to go down and investigate, and perhaps ask for some help.

You still had no idea how you went from falling asleep in your bed, to waking up in the middle of the jungle somewhere, and you could confirm that you were certainly not dreaming.

I am awake and this is reality at it's fullest. You thought to yourself as you began to pick your way down through boulders and shrubs, around the cliff you had stopped on, down towards the city. As you got closer, you were carful to stick to the trees and thick bushes to avoid being spotted. You didn't even know these people! Not to mention you still couldn't figure out where you were.

Suddenly you stopped. There were voices! Hide!

Quickly, you scrambled into a thick heap of broken palm fronds amongst the undergrowth, just in time as the people strolled out up from the city path you were taking. Slowly, you peeped through one of the fronds and nearly cried out, thus nearly giving away your position. Two large creatures whom you at first had thought were regular humans stood in front of you.

One of them, looked like a wolf, but it was somehow standing on two legs like a human, and also with a very muscular humanoid body. It's 'fur' was a very dark grey with a snow white underbelly, and two pointy ears that sat on its head. If that didn't make you shocked enough, it was only when your brain began to process the other figure that you nearly gave you position away again!

The other was a dragon. First of all, if the wolf wasn't impossible, then the dragon certainly was. What was even more shocking, was that the dragon was exactly the same as the Wolf figure. A humanoid body but with the exception of red-pink scales covering her body, along with a tail, wings, claws, and a rather cute smile... You shook the thoughts out of your head. Both of these weird creatures, One male, and the other you guessed female, hadn't spotted you just yet.

But you could never be to sure. Slowly, carful not to be seen, you began to back out, away from the fronds deeper into the undergrowth when suddenly something snapped under your foot. The two Anthros turned around and looked at you. You saw a number of emotions flood across their faces. Surprise, Shock, and finally bewilderment. The dragoness reached out a claw to grab you but you didn't stick around long enough to be caught. You ran. Not even bothering to be quiet as you heard shouts from behind you.

Not stopping to have a break. Not even stopping to look behind you. Nope. You just ran. Desperate and hoping that everything really was just a dream, but that idea was rapidly becoming less and less valid as time went on. If this was some sort of nightmare, you would have certainly woken up by now! Your only target was to get away from those, creatures. Anthros, Furries, whatever they were.

You finally stopped at a small stream. The soothing sound of rushing water began to calm you as you caught your breath. You could hear yells in the distance but for now you were safe.

You, looked up into the sky, staring at the white clouds that filled the sky, and beyond that, the pale blue covering that was the sky itself.

You thought about what you had seen. Things like that don't exist in reality. You breathed. Wishing that you could just go home already. That this could all just end.

What is this place? You thought despairingly, how did I get here? And how can I get home...
