Chapter Seven

Weakly, Ichimatsu continued to allow himself to be dragged down the streets of Japan towards Dekapan's lab.

When they arrived, Jyushimatsu didn't look the least bit exhausted, but Ichimatsu sure was. Large puffs of air could be seen escaping his mouth as they waited together outside, expecting Dekapan to open the door at any moment now.

"Nii-san! Isn't this exciting!" Jyushimatsu laughed, grabbing his brother's hand, pulling him a few steps closer to the door.

"You've been such a liar to me this entire time, haven't you, Jyushimatsu?" Ichimatsu thought. "Despite how much time you spent with me over the years, in the end, you're just like everyone else. Only, just a bit stupid. You just want your memories erased so you won't have to worry about me. Do you even worry? Probably not. You probably just want to be ridden of your burdens. I don't blame you, Jyushimatsu...I wouldn't put up with me either."

"Nii-san!" Jyushimatsu exclaimed, shaking his brother by his shoulders. "Don't look so sad!"

"Oh..." Ichimatsu mumbled. "Did I look sad? I'm sorry if my emotions displease you."

For a slight moment, he felt bad for snapping at Jyushimatsu, but then again, the yellow idiot really didn't care about anything. Just himself. Jyushimatsu only wanted to see Homura again so he could be happy. Ichimatsu wanted to go back to the past to change the future for everyone. To prevent bad things from happening. Things such as, getting caught cutting yourself.

"Ichimatsu nii-san, are you mad at me?" Jyushimatsu asked innocently. His mouth closed as his eyes began to slowly look like Choromatsu's, filled with concern.

"Like heck I'm mad at you..." Ichimatsu thought. "More like, I thought I could trust you to stand up for me, but in the end, I really am still all alone. I'll always be a loner. That can't change."

"No..." Ichimatsu huffed, puffs of air escaping his mouth. "I'm just ready to go back to the past..."

"Me too!" Jyushimatsu laughed. "I can't wait to see Homura again!"

"But you won't have your memories, you know," Ichimatsu pointed out bluntly.

"But you might, won't you?" Jyushimatsu asked. "Please tell me if you see her!"

Ichimatsu stared down at the icy sidewalk in front of Dekapan's lab, not wanting to reply. And when he glanced up, Jyushimatsu looked like he could cry.

"You will tell me, right?" Jyushimatsu asked pitifully.

Ichimatsu sighed. He honestly didn't want to do anything for Jyushimatsu. Not after how much he hurt him.

"Yeah..." Ichimatsu mumbled finally, and at that moment, the doors to Dekapan's lab slid open, revealing the short fat man.

"It's all complete! Hue hue hue!" Dekapan laughed. "Come inside! Come inside! Quickly!"

Dekapan ushered the two brothers inside, sitting them down at the child sized table.

"Just a moment!" he exclaimed, waddling towards a short table, just high enough for him to work comfortably.

Ichimatsu noticed a bead of sweat running down his brother's forehead.

"He must be nervous..." Ichimatsu thought, slightly pitying his brother. "It's strange to see him act..this way. Maybe he's just scared it won't work and he'll just be walking around without his memories. He couldn't possibly be thinking of how I acted, could he? Gosh I hope not..."

"Here you go!" Dekapan said, setting down two shot glasses filled with a hot pink liquid. "But before you drink, allow me to remind you of a few things."

Ichimatsu and Jyushimatsu nodded their heads, agreeing to listen.

"First off, Jyushimatsu, you will lose all of your memories wether this works or not. You will not lose or gain anything, Ichimatsu. You're safe. And if this goes perfectly, the world should either reset five years, or ten. Most likely ten considering how long it took me to create this. Once you're back in time, you cannot skip to the future. It's impossible. Is that all clear? Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Yes," Ichimatsu and Jyushimatsu said in unison as they reached for their shot glasses.

"Well then," Dekapan said with a kind smile on his face. "Enjoy your new life..."

At that moment, Ichimatsu lifted the glass to his lips, swallowing every single drop of the disgusting potion. Jyushimatsu did the same.

Then the world went entire black. And from then on, Ichimatsu felt as if he were shrinking, when really, it was the number of years that were shrinking.

Even when he opened up his eyes, all he could see was darkness. And when Ichimatsu tried to speak, calling for his brother, no sound would come from his mouth. It was as if he no longer had any vocal cords.

With a harsh thud, Ichimatsu found himself opening his eyes, under the covers to his old single person futon.

Birds chirped loudly, speaking of the joys of morning.

Quickly sitting up, Ichimatsu looked around the room. There were all five of his brothers, sleeping peacefully. And the funny thing was, was the fact that Ichimatsu couldn't tell them apart so easily by just looking at their heads.

Warmth overflowed Ichimatsu's heart when he heard his mother softly knock on the door, telling the boys to wake up.

Quickly, Ichimatsu looked at the calendar on the wall in their room.

It was May. May 18th, to be exact.

"A few days before our birthday, huh? This is so strange...I feel like I can remember this day. What was so significant about it...?" Ichimatsu thought as he stared blankly at his awakening brothers.

Jyushimatsu turned to look at Ichimatsu, laughing loudly.

"Why are your eyes all droopy?" he laughed groggily, jumping out of his futon. "You look dead, nii-san!"

"I forgot I used to keep my eyes open," Ichimatsu thought, slightly wanting to laugh in spite of himself. "I'll have to act my age, won't I?"

"Boys! Don't forget your school lunches today!" their mother called loudly.

Memories overflowed Ichimatsu's soul for a few moments, but he quickly remembered what his purpose was.

"Each and every action matters now..." he thought. "I have to do everything right this time. This isn't my first time of having a second chance at life. But this time around, it's very important that I don't make a single mistake..." he thought, quickly beginning to ready himself for school.

Never in his life would Ichimatsu had thought he would be going into the past, trying to clean up the mess he had made. Only about two years ago, he was most likely sitting on the cliff at the beach, preparing to jump to his death.
