*Opens the Big Book of Kat's Many Mistakes(tm)*

So over the weekend my robotics team went to a competition as spectators to get ideas for our robot. After the fact, some of us went home while others stayed and worked on the robot for three hours.

I went home, as well as my boyfriend. We heard from some of the members at the Christmas Concert yesterday that they were nearly done with the robot, so he and I went into the storage room looking for this robot.

The robot was on a shelf about 6 feet up. I reached up and grabbed it, and took it down to show him.

What I didn't realize was how heavy the robot was.

As I was reaching up and putting it back on this shelf about 6 feet tall (I am about 5'7 with very weak arms), I started to lose balance. It was either fall back and save the robot while potentially giving myself a concussion from falling against a table with a bunch of computers that had been ripped apart, or drop the robot.

I dropped the robot from 6 feet in the air.

LUCKILY NOTHING MAJOR BROKE. The claw bent a bit, as well as a few motors came loose, and the base became off balance. I started freaking out because I knew everyone was gonna get so mad at me if they found out that I had dropped and bent the precious robot child.

BUT THEN THE BOYFRIEND SWOOPS IN AND SAVES ME FROM SHAMING BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HE DOES.

He told them that over the weekend it had fallen off the shelf. They all believed it, and everything was fixed within an hour of work tonight. People did complain a bit with comments like "Dude how high up was that shelf even?", but it's fixed now and good. We now even have a new "splot" (half spot, half plot) for the robot, on the floor in a corner behind a wall. No one ever goes in this corner.
