The events in 'Another Path' are set in the world of Qi'zhou (Forsaken Lands). This tale takes place before 'A Sliver of Frost', which is the first book in the Chronicles of the Seventh Weave.

Much of this tale happens at the northern borders of the Liao Kingdom, which is prone to invasion by the tribes of Ba'ye.
