"I'm looking for Donna White," Leah said in a panic. It was 5am and William had just taken Leah back to LA, leaving everyone else so that she could make it on time.

"She's not seeing any visitors right now. Are you family?" The nurse responded.

"I'm her daughter-in-law," she said, in the heat of the moment. "Can I at least know how she is?"

"You're going to have to wait on the doctor for that information. In the mean time, please have a seat ma'am," the nurse calmly stated, signaling to the seating area. Leah knew she had to also be calm in this situation but she needed answers,

"What about the little girl she was home with? Where is she?" she sniffled.

"You'll have to wait and speak with social services, ma'am. Please take a seat," the nurse repeated, turning to type something into her computer.

"Socia- No, I want to see her. Tell me where she is," she cried, feeing anxiety take over her body. She was holding onto the top of the desk but slowly released as William took her hands and pulled them towards him.

"Hey, come sit with me," he said softly, wrapping her hand around her waist and turning her in the direction of the seating area. All that was on her mind was Kacey. She was already going through so much change and now this.

"She must be so scared," Leah cried, turning to look up at William. Kacey was young but she understood a lot for her age.

"She's a brave girl," Will whispered, taking her chin in his hand. "We'll see her soon but right now we just have to be calm and wait for someone to come out." Leah took a deep breath before nodding her head and following Will over to the waiting area.

"Family for Donna White," the doctor finally called out, after an hour of waiting. Leah jumped to her feet and approached the doctor, Will not too far behind her.

"Yes," she mumbled, hesitant to hear her results.

"Well, Mrs.White seems to have an abnormal growth in her abdomen...," he began, sighing at every breath.

"So...like cancer?" Leah whispered, turning to look at Will with fear in her eyes.

"We will have to wait on the results of a few more tests to be completely sure but-," he paused when tears began to stream down Leah's face. She was no longer able to hold eye contact with the doctor. She simply looked to the floor, shook her head and sobbed.

"I'm very sorry," the doctor replied.

"What about Kacey?" She asked now looking up at the doctor. "What about her granddaughter? Where is she?" she rambled, her voice shaking along with her body.

"I'm going to take you to her now. She's with social services through these doors," he said, turning around and extending his arm in the direction of the double doors.

Leah turned and grabbed Williams hand before she followed the doctor through the doors and down the hall. They entered a room where lady sat at the desk trying to ask Kacey questions, while Kacey sat on a chair across from her with her head held down.

"Kacey, baby come here," Leah breathed, running and taking Kacey into her arms. The minute Leah held onto her, she bursted into tears.

"Lele, I want to go home," she cried, wrapping her arms around Leah's neck as tight as she could.

"I know baby," she whispered, rubbing her head with one hand and her back with the other. "I'm going to take you home."

"She hasn't cried or said a word since she's been here," the social worker explained, speaking to the doctor.

"She's scared," Leah turned to say, slightly angry and annoyed. It took them so long to let her see her and she was closed up in this room with someone she didn't know. Leah tried to dim her anger but it was hard not to show it.

"And you are..."

"I'm the closest thing she has to a mother," Leah stated, a slight mug on her face.

"Your name please," the social worker asked, taking her pen and aiming it at her notepad.

"Maleah Allen,"

"Is there anyway that I can get in touch with the child's biological parents?" She asked, looking up at Leah with a blank stare.

Leah hesitated, looking up at William who could see the fear in her eyes. "Her mother lives in another country. Her father- her grandmother is her legal guardian but I basically raised her," she finished, not being able to stomach the idea of leaving Kacey with Jonah.

"I do see your name on her contact information," she said, typing into her computer. "But I also see her grandmother and her father, Jonah White," she mumbled, squinting into the computer to make sure she was reading correctly and then turning to look up at Leah who was gripping onto Kacey like her life depended on it.

"She's not going with him," she said, now beginning to let her irritation be clear.

"I don't think that's your decision to make, Ms.Allen. I'm going to have to get in contact with her father," she stated.

"No, she can't go with him. Can't you see his record. He was arrested about two months ago," she cried, trying to calm Kacey down again now that they were being told that Leah couldn't take her.

"With this minor charge, it is not enough to say that he isn't fit to take care of the child while Mrs. White remains under the hospitals care," she explained.

Leah could see the type of person the social worker was. She didn't care about the best interest of the child. She just wanted to do her job by the books and go on with her day.

"So, if she goes with him and something happens to her, what happens then," she cried, stepping closer to the social worker.

"Ma'am, please calm down," the doctor stated, holding his hand out in front of Leah.

"No, this is fucking crazy. She clearly wants to go with me. Can't you just ask her?" she asked, picking Kacey's head up from her shoulder and wiping her tears.

"She's still a minor and she can't decide where she goes," she explained, now getting slightly annoyed by Leah's anger.

"So, you're telling me that even though he has a record and a pending case and the women who raised her is standing right there, that she still has to go with this man," William chimed in, beginning to get ticked off as well.

He wanted to stay silent and let Leah handle it but he was beginning to get heated.

"Dr. Wyatt, Mr. White, Mrs. Whites son is in the waiting area," a nurse approached the doctor and said. The doctor looked at everyone in the room before proceeding to follow the nurse.

Will clenched his fists and turned around to follow after the doctor before Leah grabbed his attention. "Will," she called, shaking her head.

Will took a deep breath before walking over to them, one hand on Kacey's back and the other on Leah's arm.

"Everything will work out," he whispered, lightly squeezing her arm and looking into her eyes. He knew that she was scared and he was scared for her too. He didn't want to tell her that everything would be fine because he didn't know if it was true.

Leah took a seat with Kacey in her arms and William sat beside her as they waited for the doctor to return. "I want to see Grammy," Kacey whispered into the crook of Leah's neck.

Leah closed her eyes and held Kacey tighter, not knowing how to tell her that her Grammy wasn't okay.

The doctor shortly returned to the room with Jonah a few steps behind him. William looked up to see him and jumped to his feet.

"He can't be in here with her. She has a restraining order," he said angrily, eyeing Jonah as he put his hands up in surrender and took a few steps back away from the door, with a small smirk on his face.

"Can I see my daughter?" he asked, with slight amusement in his voice as he watched Leah avoid eye contact.

Although she didn't trust him, she knew that Kacey would want to see him and maybe us would calm her down a little. She picked her head up from her chest and kissed her cheek, as Kacey opened her drowsy eyes.

"Look who's here baby," she said, trying to be as cheerful as she could.

Kacey turned her head and saw Jonah squatting down with his arms wide open. She quickly climbed down from Leah's lap and ran into his arms. He picked her up and cradled her while she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I know, baby. Grammy is going to be alright," he said, kissing her cheek and rubbing her back.

The social worker walked back into the room from a call she was making. She took a deep breath and looked down at Leah who was still seated and then glanced at Jonah who was standing in the hallway.

"Kacey will be staying with her father until her Grandmother is released from the hospital,"

Leah's heart sunk. She couldn't find the words to express what she was feeling. It was true that Jonah loved Kacey but he also said that he loved Leah every time he put his hands on her.

"No!" she yelled, jumping to her feet. "She's coming with me," she cried. Jonah simply smirked and turned to make his way down the hallway.

She tried to follow them but William stood at the door and held her back.

When Kacey saw that she wasn't going with Leah, she began to scream and try to fight her way out of Jonah's hands. She screamed Leah's name as Jonah held onto her tight and made his way through the double doors.

"Ma'am, if you don't calm down, I'm going to have to call security," the Doctor stated.

Leah calmed herself down shortly after and William offered to take her home. They drove in silence as Leah stared out of the window, biting the inside of her cheek. William watched her, feeling an immense pain in his stomach for her.

Will parked the car and walked Leah up to her Condo, holding the bags she had from her trip. Her mind was blank and she couldn't think straight.

Leah walked into the Condo and went into the bathroom, still completely silent. Her mind simply ran on Kacey.

Will walked in behind her and set her bags down. He leaned on her island in the kitchen and waited for her to exit. She walked out of the bathroom and sat at the edge her sofa, staring at the floor with her hands over her face.

He waited a minute before he walked over and joined her, sitting beside her and wrapping his arms around her. She turned to him and burried her head in his chest. Will lifted her head and planted kisses all around her face.

"Will," she sighed, pulling away.

"Tell me," he said.

"I'm so sorry," she whispered, shaking her head.

"What are you apologizing for?" he asked, moving closer to her.

"I can't do this. There's too much going on and this can't happen," she mumbled, avoiding eye contact and feeling Will tense up.

"Le, what are you tal-"

"Will, you know what I'm saying. Please don't make this harder than it is," she sighed, beginning to feel tears form in her eyes. "I'm sorry but I just want to be alone right now.

Will nodded his head and pulled away before kissing her cheek and getting up from the seat. He walked over to the door and turned around, hoping that she would change her mind.

She only looked up at him and he knew he mind was set. He took a deep breath before shutting the door behind him.

He knew that she was in pain and he wanted to be there for her. But he couldn't force anything if she wasn't ready. He just wanted to be there for her and help her get through this.
