Missing
"You okay? You cold," William asked as they stood outside waiting for car to take them to an after party. Leah stood beside him in between two double doors of the lobby in a nude colored dress that was long but had an exaggerated slit, while the breaths leaving her mouth were made visible from the cold.
"Mmm mm, I'm good," Leah hummed and nodded. "I just wish they didn't rush us out," she chuckled, gritting her teeth. William just watched her and smiled, knowing that she was freezing.
He took his blazer off and wrapped it around her and she smiled up at him before rolling her eyes. He already knew that she would argue with him for doing that.
"I said I was fine. Now you're going to be cold," she mugged, trying to take the blazer back off but William put his hand on top of hers and stopped her.
"Stop being stubborn. I have like three shirts under this button up. Let me be a gentleman, it's a rare sight," he joked and she sighed before moving her hand so he could adjust the blazer on her shoulders.
They had just left the launch of Marley's new line and stayed to help pack some things up while Marley went to handle the after party. Of course, William stayed when Leah stayed and was ready to leave when she was.
"It's not rare," she smiled and he chuckled, shaking his head knowing that if she looked at her smile anymore it would dig him in a hole.
"How long are you going to stay at the party for?" he asked, taking his phone back out of his pocket to see how far their Uber was. He would be lying if he said he wasn't starting to feel cold but he tried his hardest to play it off.
"I don't know. I'm kind of tired already so as soon as I'm really ready to knock out," she replied, bitting the insides of her cheek and shifting her weight onto the heels of her shoes.
William watched her and laughed and she looked up at him, furrowing her eyebrows.
"What's the joke," she mugged and he wiped his hand over his face trying to hide his laugh.
"You're this close from falling asleep right here," he laughed holding his fingers up together. "I was watching your drinks and being that I know you all too well, you're nearly gone," he laughed and she used the back of his hand to lightly hit his chest.
"You're such a bully," she whined, trying to hide the fact that she was blushing. Williams laugh slowly died down and he stood there with his hands in his pockets and his shoulders up to his ears.
"Will, you're freezing," she laughed and he pressed his lips together and shook his head. "Come here," she said, taking his hand and pulling him towards her before putting that hand over her shoulder and her hand around his torso.
"Who told you I liked you that much for you to be this close?" he joked resting his chin on her head and she laughed, shaking her head as their bodies warmed each other up.
A few seconds later, a car slowly approached them and they straightened up and got ready to get into their Uber.
"Maleah Allen," the detective said as he stepped out of the vehicle.
"Um....yes," she spoke softly, looking up at William who was just as confused as she was.
"Ma'am, we are going to need to take you down to the station for questioning," the detective stated, as he reached to take Leahs arm.
"Uh Uh, get your hands off her. I need to see some identification or something," William interrupted, softly pulling Leah to the side and stepping up the detective.
The detective sighed before pulling out his ID and William looked closely at it before stepping back and using his thumb to scratch the bridge of his nose.
"What is the about?" She asked the detective, now stepping towards the detective and William stepped back allowing her to handle herself.
"Where got a report of a missing child and you're being asked to answer a few questions to help us locate the child," the detective stated, opening the door to the back of the car.
"What child?" She mumbled, furrowing her eyebrows. "Kacey?" She gasped out almost immediately in tears and turning to look at Will and then back at the detective.
"Yes, ma'am,"
"What do you mean missing? How is she missing?" She shouted, not being able to control the anger and worry she was feeling.
She still wasn't able to see or speak to her since she had been with Jonah but Donna and her had already started the process of transferring her rights.
"The sooner we get to the station, the faster we can find her," the detective stated, motioning for her to enter the car.
"I'm coming with you," William said and Leah climbed into the back of the car.
"I'm sorry but you can't be back here," the detective held his hand out in front of Will making him take a step back and mug him.
"What the fuck do you mean? I'm not just going to let you drive off with her," he scoffed, waving his hands up.
"Will, it's fine. Just let me go," she said with tears in her eyes and he knew she was more than worried.
William sucked his teeth and stepped back not wanting to hold her up any longer before he saw them Uber approaching behind the detectives car.
"I'll be right behind you," he said and she looked back at the Uber and nodded before he shut her door and hopped in the Uber so that he could follow the car.
They drove until that arrived to the station where Leah exited the car and William got out of his Uber, approaching her quickly and taking her hand, feeling the anxiety begin to take over her body.
"Please follow me Ms.Allen," the detective emphasized her name and held his hand out in front of William, signaling that he wasn't allowed in the room and he huffed before Leah turned to him and nodded, softly squeezing his hand and he calmed down a little.
"You good?" he asked and she nodded before she turned to enter the room.
