Just friends

Leah woke up from the sound of her alarm on her phone. May had the entire day planned and wanted everyone to meet in the lobby by 9am.

Leah rolled out of bed and went straight into the shower. She took her shower, washed her face, washed her hair and brushed her teeth. She had picked out a turquoise two-piece bathing suit and white shorts with a white sheer shawl.

While her makeup set, she added her leave-in, gel and oil for a curly wash and go. As soon as she finished adding her products to her hair, she heard a knock at the door.

"May?" She asked, as she approached the door, hesitant. She was still slightly triggered by unexpected people approaching her door.

"It's me," she heard a voice call from the other side of the door. She hated when he did that but he always made sure to.

"Who's me?" she chuckled, opening the door to see William with a big smile that quickly turned into a frown when he noticed that she wasn't ready. He knew she would take long which is why he set her timer for her to wake up extra early but of course she was still late.

"Why you making that face?" She cooed, squeezing his cheek before turning around and walking back into the bathroom, standing over the sink.

Will entered the room, locking the door behind him and walking over to the bathroom door, where he leaned against the doorframe and watched her blend out her powder. He stood there amused.

Leah watched him from the corner of her eye before turning to him, still using her beauty blender to even out the powder. "What?" She giggled, turning her eyes back to the mirror. She noticed the simple stares that were becoming more common from Will.

"Why do you always have to take forever?" He asked, picking up her bottle of leave-in and reading it closely. He was interested seeing what exactly it was she had to have in her hair.

"Because beauty takes time," she smiled, taking the bottle from him before rolling her eyes and applying her lip gloss.

Will stood in the in the doorway and subtly licked the middle of his lips before responding. He couldn't help the effect the Leah had on him. He wished it would be easier to come out and express how he felt about her. How he's always felt. "I promise you don't need that to be beautiful," he nervously said.

"Look at you being sweet," she chuckled, not realizing the true meaning behind his words. "I'm ready now," she smiled, walking past him, grabbing her phone and her purse and heading for the door.

"So glad it's just us girls," May sighed, relaxing as the masseuse worked in her tense areas. They had a spa day planned while the men went and explored. They planned to meet up later for dinner.

"I know. Those men would talk you ear off all day if they could," Lana, May's best friend, said, lifting her head a little off the massage table and laughing.

"I don't mind y'all. I like it when my man talks to me," May smirked, winking at her friends who were all laughing.

"Oh, we know," Janelle, May's friend responded. Janelle was the single one of the group and didn't believe in getting married. She loved the relationships her friends had but she didn't plan on settling down.

"Janelle, you gon find you a man while you here?" May smirked. She knew her friend would want to find someone to mingle with but not to be labeled as her man.

"Girl, leave me alone. You see me on vacation," she mugged, adjusting her head on the massage table and closing her eyes.

"What about you Leah?" Lana questioned, gazing over at Leah who laid silently over the massage table on her stomach, her arms folded underneath her head and her face in the direction of the sun.

"Yeah, when you gon let Will take you out?" Janelle messily asked, lifting her head up to see Leah's reaction and she rotated her eyes from Lana to Leah.

Leah lifted her head and turned to face them. She playfully rolled her eyes and chuckled. She was about to respond when May interrupted.

"Okay, y'all can stop now. That's enough," May mugged. They knew her situation but they surely forgot and were too in tune with the conversation at hand.

"It's fine, May," she calmly stated. "Will and I are just friends," she said, returning to her previous position. Janelle and Lana looked at each other and giggled slightly, knowing that what she said wasn't how Will wanted to stay. May just sighed and relaxed while getting her massage.

"What are you getting?" William whispered to Leah at the dinner table. They concluded all of the fun for the day and it was time to have dinner before they all headed up. May's birthday is tomorrow and that's when they'd have the real fun.

"Mmmm...I don't know," she responded softly, biting the inside of her cheek and wiping a loose curl from her face. "What are you getting?"

"I don't know either," William chuckled, looking at Leah who rolled her eyes playfully showing that she was slightly annoyed and amused at the same time. "What about the salmon?" William asked, pointing his finger into Leah's menu.

"I eat salmon everyday," she chuckled, shaking her head. Salmon was Leah's favorite food and Will knew how much she loved it but she wanted to try something new.

"Well, you don't eat red meats so you can either do the Parmesan chicken or the shrimp and lobster pasta," he said, watching her bit her lip, conflicted. "Stop doing that."

"Doing what?" She asked, sighing and flipping her menu to look at the drinks.

"Biting the inside of your cheek," he laughed, lightly poking her cheek. William didn't like when she did this because he knew she only did it when something was bothering her but the conversation from earlier was still lingering on her mind.

"Leave me alone," she chuckled, rolling her eyes at him. Janelle, Lana and May all watched as Leah and William lightly flirted at the table. They were all amused by the fact that they constantly denied it.

"Hello, My name is Timothy and I'll be taking your orders. What can I start you all off with tonight?" The waiter asked, standing before the table with his pen and notebook ready.

"What ever you get, just get two," Leah turned to William and said, closing her menu and folding her hands over the table.

"Okay," he smiled, responding to the waiter. They ordered the pasta and continued to enjoy the rest of the evening. They laughed and talked around the table and William couldn't take his eyes off of Leah the entire night.

"Would you like to dance my beautiful wife?" Dion asked, holding his hand out if front of May with a big smile on his face. A band had begun to play an instrumental of Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton.

"Of course, my love," May replied, looking up to meet his gaze and smiling back at him. She took his hand as he led her to the dance floor where she rested her head on his chest and they slow danced.

William watched them in awe. He loved the way Dion cared for his sister and he loved how happy she was. "Get a room!" he screamed, causing them to look at him and chuckle.

Leah lightly hit his chest and rolled her eyes, also laughing along. "Leave them alone. They're cute," she said, looking back and them and watching them look into each other's eyes.

"Do you want to dance?" Will nervously asked, watching Leah slowly turn to meet his gaze with a smile on her face.

"You have two left feet," she giggled. "But of course I would," she said softly, standing and holding out her hand. William took her hand and she led him to the dance floor. He wrapped his hands around her waist and she rested her hands on her chest as they began to move to the music.

"You say I have two left feet?" Will chuckled, trying not to let Leah step on his toes again. Leah had two drinks and was feeling it start to kick in. "You're such a leightweight," he chuckled, kissing her forehead as she moved her hands to his arms and  rested her head in his chest.

"Why can't you just be nice for a second," she mugged, slightly pinching his arm, her head still in his chest.

"Want me to take you upstairs," he asked, his lips still against her forehead. Leah was a sleeper when she started to get drunk and he could feel her beginnings doze off. She wasn't drunk enough the be completely out of it but with the music and Will's comfortable chest it was enough for her to only be able to nod in response.

"Come on," he said as she picked her head and took his hand. They waved goodnight to everyone and went back to the table to collect their belongings.

"Here we are, Miss Maleah Allen," Will said, opening her door. She stood there and mugged him for a second before she entered. No one called her by her full name unless in was her grandmother. William found it amusing to use it sometimes.

"I'm not even that tired. It was just the music," she sighed, walking into the room and putting her purse on the chair. William walked in behind her and shut the door.

"Do you need anything? Like an aspirin or something," Will asked, watching Leah get a t-shirt and a pair of shorts from her suitcase and head to the bathroom. She went into the bathroom and changed into the clothes. She used a makeup wipe and removed her makeup. She was too exhausted to take a shower but she took one right before dinner.

William sat on the edge of the sofa and waited for her to finish before he asked her again. He smiled, listening to her hum as she finished up.

William looked up and turned his head around as she walked out of the bathroom with her dress folded over her arm. His eyes followed her as she rolled the dress up and placed it in the empty side of her suitcase. In his eyes, she was perfect. "You got aspirin or you want me to get some?"he asked softly.

"I'm fine," she smiled, walking from the bed, that was set behind the couch, and sitting down next to him. William watched as she sat beside him and took a deep breath, wrapping her feet behind her in the couch.

Leah believed that Will was such a good person. He has been close to her since they started working together but he has never left her side since she's been going through this rough patch. They make each other feel secure.

There was a warm silence as Leah took a deep breath and laid her head on Williams shoulder. "Leah," Will said softly. She closed her eyes and hummed. "I'm glad you're here," he whispered, smiling.

She slowly lifted her head and turned to meet his gaze. They were only inches apart. Leah took a deep breath as she stared into Will's eyes, watching a small grin form on his lips.

He leaned in, hesitating, waiting for Leah to match his movements. It took a second before she began to lean in, allowing her lips to meet his. Will wrapped his hands around her waist and pulled her closer, as their kiss deepened.

Leah's hands went up his arm, one stopped there and the other stopped at his chest. She finally felt as peace. With all that had been going on, she finally felt safe and happy.

Their lips slowly parted when Leah's phone rang. They pulled away slowly, caught in a spell-like gaze. As the ringing continued, Leah turned to see Kacey's contact pop across her screen. It was a FaceTime call and it was way past her bedtime.

She answered to Kacey sobbing. "Bear, is everything alright? Why are you crying, Mama," she asked, in a slight panic, standing to her feet.

"Grammy!" She shrieked, still crying uncontrollably. William now jumped to his feet, standing behind Leah with his hands on her arms, watching Kacey scream and shuffle throughout the living room through the screen.
