chapter twenty-six
Sadie's jaw literally dropped to the floor upon hearing this. "What do you mean you're coming to my house?" Clearing his throat, Brian simply replied, " It would be best if the boys stayed put at your house for a few days. Peace and quiet is what they need right now after filming for two weeks."
"But what abo-" She was cut off mid-sentence by Paul. "Your sister knows all about it. Everythin's all set." He gave one of those winning McCartney smiles, as he squeezed Sadie's left knee.
"What about your wives and girlfriends, won't they get worried?" Worry filled her chocolate brown eyes, as they almost reached their destination. "I mean, you can call them and all, but won't they get suspicious of you four being with two girls for the next few days?" Again with being over-concerned!
Ringo, who sat across from the blond, took his hands in hers and smiled. "Luv, stop worryin' over nothin'. We'll call everyone an' fill 'em in. In the meantime, jus' hav' fun!" Oh that adorable Ringo smile. Cheering up a tad, Sadie joked, "Who would believe me if I told them I ran into a Beatle while walking in the Bahamas and they had a slumber party over my flat?"
A grinning John chimed in, "Don't forget shaggin' a Beatle; specifically our Paulie over here!" George punched the older Beatle in the arm, hard. Sadie blushed a bright red, shielding her face in her hands. Paul cheeks slightly flushed, giving Lennon a death glare. Ringo sighed and shook his head. Brian chose to ignore that comment, as to not start an argument. John mutterd an "Oops," keeping his gob shut for the duration of the ride.
The ride couldn't end soon enough! Twenty minutes later, the limousine pulled up in front of the flat. The driver opened the doors for everyone as Mal and Neil retrieved the suitcases. Sadie went to gather her things, but a gentle hand lightly pushed her hands away. Paul.
What a gentleman Sadie thought. A genuine smile spread across her thin lips. Linking an arm with Paul, as he carried (some) of the luggage, they walked up to the small flat. The front door opened wide as the older sibling greeted 'the couple.' Sadie unlinked her arm from Paul, instead embracing the older sibling. When both let go, she introduced Patsy to Paul; who now had his arm around her waist. This did not go unnoticed by Patsy, but put it in the back of her mind until another time,
By now, the other three members of The Beatles stood behind Paul and Sadie Introductions were met.. Mal and Neil who held the majority of the luggage, made their way into the flat; setting the items down. Brian was last. He spoke with Patsy; giving instructions regarding the lads. When their conversation was through, he gave The Beatles a stern warning. "I trust you will be on your best behaviours, lads? You are a guest in someone's home!"
"Yes, Eppy!"
Satisfied with their answer, Brian, along with Neil and Mal rode to their respective homes.

"Are you all hungry?" Pasty asked The Beatles and Sadie, who sat around the living room watching telly. "I am!" George added, vacating his spot on the floor, wandering to the small kitchen. Ringo rolled over on the floor belly laughing. "Yer always hungry, Harrison! Must 'av a tapeworm or sumfin?" A fit of giggles and a loud snort from Sadie filled the living room. George poked his head out of the swinging door to the kitchen, "I heard tha'!" A roast beef sandwich stuffed in his mouth.
"Better get some food, befor' ol' Harry Georgeson eats us out of 'ouse and 'one for the next few days." John laughed, walking toward the kitchen. "Right." Paul and Ringo nodded. Sadie didn't have time to respond. Paul quickly pulled the girl up from the couch, dragging them both. Never come between a Beatle and his food!

The few days of rest and relaxation The Beatles received, was pure bliss. No stress,. No recording. No press Also, no wives or girlfriends. Brian said it would be too dangerous, if word leaked out. Instead, Cynthia( John's wife) and Patty( George's girlfriend), would meet in Austria. Maureen(Ringo's wife), couldn't fly due to her being pregnant. Paul didn't even bother to ring Jane, for fear she'd have a cow and God knows what else! Last but not least, NO BRIAN! The lads could be themselves. Four ordinary boys from Liverpool!
Ringo and Sadie played rummy. He was a sneaky card player and tried to cheat one too many times! Sadie managed to see through the cheating and beat Ringo anyway! He even tried his strategy against Patsy, but was unsuccessful.
John and Paul continued their songwriting, as did George.

On the night before their departure to the Alps, Paul and Sadie sat together on the huge swing out back. The couple snuggled up together, absentmindedly swinging back and worth. "Sarah?" Paul asked, lighting a cigarette. The blond sat upright. A puzzled look on her face. "You never call me Sarah, unless it's really important or something's bothering you." Paul blew out a ring of grey smoke above him."There's a song, I've been working on."
Sadie's chocolate brown pools, sparkled with delight. "Really? Can I hear it?"Finishing the last of the Marlboro, he stubbed it out in the ashtray."Be right back, luv." Paul added, retrieving his acoustic guitar. Sitting down on a lawn chair in the grass, he began to strum and sing along.
Michelle, my belle.
These are words that go together well,
My Michelle.
Michelle, my belle.
Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble,
Très bien ensemble.
I love you, I love you, I love you.
That's all I want to say.
Until I find a way
I will say the only words I know that
You'll understand.
Michelle, my belle.
Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble,
Très bien ensemble.
I need to, I need to, I need to.
I need to make you see,
Oh, what you mean to me.
Until I do I'm hoping you will
Know what I mean.
I love you...
I want you, I want you, I want you.
I think you know by now
I'll get to you somehow.
Until I do I'm telling you so
You'll understand.
Michelle, my belle.
Sont des mots qui vont très bien ensemble,
Très bien ensemble.
I will say the only words I know that
You'll understand, my Michelle.
After the last heartfelt not was finished, Paul set the guitar on his lap. "Well, what do ya think?" A speechless Sadie sat frozen in her spot. Those hazel orbs searching for some answer. After a few seconds, Sadie found her voice. "Oh my God!" She cried, as tears cascaded down her beautiful tanned face. "Was th...this fffo..for.."Barely a whisper escaping. "Her? My daughter, my baby girl who died?" Paul nodded, vacating the lawn chair. "An' fer you too!"
He lifted Sadie up from the swing and sat her down in his lap. Arms encircled Sadie's middle protectively. "I love you!" The young woman positioned herself; face to face with the young musician. Almost straddling him. A look of love in each others' eyes. "I love you too, babe!" Sadie cried kissing the mop top lovingly on the lips.
