Chapter 4

Nikki's POV

I woke up two hours before school starts. And I couldn't go back to sleep. I pulled myself out of bed and got dresses into a black skirt, orange shirt, and black flats. I straighten out my wavy hair and pulled it back into a braided bun. I applied mascara and eyeliner. Done.

Next, I made sure ALL my homework was in my bag and was done, and done well. I jumped downstairs and made pancakes and eggs for my mum and dad. Dad and mum would wake soon. After I made it, I ate my portion. I still had 45 minutes to burn.

I decided to drive to Hannah's house. I'm always welcomed there by her parents and two year younger brother, Andrew. I grabbed my heavy knapsack and drove to her house. I got there and left my stuff in my car. I knocked and Andrew came to the door.

"Wha- Heeey Nikki! What's up, girl?" Andrew leaned against the door.

"Hannah's still here, right?" I asked.

"She doing her hair and face. But you can talk to to me. You know that thing about pro-" Andrew started saying.

"Listen, Andy...I need to talk to Hannah. I'll be upstairs in Hannah's room, okay? Thanks," I say as I climb the stairs.

Andrew frowned and ran up next to me.

"Nikki, girl, have you found a date to prom. I, uh, know several people who you could go with. I heard Paul, my best bud, wanted to ask you, girl. But I don't think he has the guts. Know what I'm sayin'?" we stopped in the hallway.

"No, I don't. He was the first one to ask me yesterday. But, I already said no."

I walked into Hannah's room and closed the door so Andrew couldn't come in. Hannah saw me and sat up from her bed and walked over to me.

"Hey?"

"I just wanted to be here. Do you parents ever fight?" I asked.

"Not big fights since we moved from America to here."

Oh yeah. They used to live in America. That's where theh were born. But they moved when Hannah was 15. They still have that American accent. And they talk American, which explains Andrew. I've always wanted to see America.

"Why?" Hannah askes.

"Oh, erm. My parents are having big fights when they think I can't hear them. Are you ready? We have to leave in five minutes," I say.

"Yep. Let me grab my stuff. Are you driving me?" she asks.

"Sure. Come on."

We run downstairs. Hannah grabs books and her knapsack and we run to my car. I start it and pull out onto the road and drive to school. We go in and head straight to class. We get in and sit down. After six minutes, the bell rings and Ms. Liams comes in.

"Homework, class. And Nikki, I want yesterday's homework from you!" she snarled.

"Yes, Ms. Liams," I pull out my homework and hand it to her.

"Pop quiz day," Ms. Liams says cheerfully followed by a bunch of groans.

"Pop quizzes suck," someone said.

I turned around and looked for who said that. So did a lot of other people. They'll be in big trouble for sure.

"Who said that!" Ms. Liams eyes darted around.

No one answered or raised their hand.

"I said... WHO SAID THAT!" Ms. Liams screeched.

We were so quiet, you could here the next classroom teacher talking. Ms. Liams grabbed her detention folder and smirked which only made her wrinkles around her mouth deeper.

"You all go to detention unless someone confesses! Now, Amanda! Pass the quizzes out! I expect no lower than a C!" Ms. Liams sat down at her desk. Great. Detention, again! What a great week this is for me!
