Chapter 31

ANNA'S POV

"What are you doing here?" I muttered, my hands shaking. I craned my neck, attempting to gaze back into the living room, but my Father shook his head at me.

"I wouldn't try and get her attention if I were you," he grumbled quietly, pulling out a gun from behind his back. I gasped at the small metal object, my bottom lip quivering. "This is full with bullets soaked in wolfsbane. One shot of them in the heart could kill her."

Anxiety coursed through my veins, and my legs trembled, struggling to hold me up.

"Anna," spoke my Father, holding his hand out for me to take. "Come with me. You don't belong in their world. You know that. You're a human, and this is wrong."

I sniffled, a silent tear dribbling down my cheek as I stared at the man I had spent years running from. He was smiling at me, as if he had never laid a hand on me. It was one of his manipulation techniques that he used to coerce people into doing what he wanted. He was rather good at it.

"You have roughly five seconds to take my hand or I'll shoot your friend," my Father warned me, his jaw taut. His other hand tightened around the gun, and I noticed him rise it slightly. The movement scared me, and I took one last longing look back into the house before taking my Father's hand.

I knew that Gia hadn't heard our conversation, our voices quiet and the TV far too loud, drowning us out. However, my Father was right that I probably had around five seconds to make my decision on what to do. Gia would have known that something was up, and she would have made her way around the corner to check upon me.

But, I wouldn't let her be killed. Especially because her death would mean that I would be taken anyway. Gia getting hurt wasn't going to make the situation any different. I wouldn't allow her to put herself at risk to save me anyway.

"Good choice," my Father muttered to me as he led me towards a large black jeep, the windows tinted. I clambered in, regret filling me, but, I knew that there was no point in trying to run. My Father would shoot me, the gun having been lifted to my back as we walked.

I attempted to pull on the car handle as my Father hopped into the front seat, but, it was obviously locked. I just wanted to know if there was a possibility I could leap out when he wasn't looking.

"Where are you taking me?" I whispered, wiping at my teary eyes.

"Don't talk," snapped my Father, and I clamped my mouth shut, fiddling with my fingers in my lap.

My Father wasn't going to kill me. That wasn't his style. He enjoyed taking his time and breaking people down, and during that time, I would find a way to escape.

I would alert the whole pack, and they would be able to easily take him down. He couldn't shoot all of them at once.

I stared out of the window as my Father drove, gazing at the humans who made their way down the street nonchalantly, unaware that I had just been taken. I wasn't about to yell at them for help though. That would be putting others in danger, and my Father was persistent. He would harm anyone that got in the way.

Around forty five minutes passed, and we had already made some good distance. My Father was driving fast, weaving in and out of other cars casually, honking his horn at drivers who were moving far too slowly for his liking.

Jared filled my mind as I released a shaky breath, my eyes welling up with tears yet again. I didn't want my Father to see me cry, but I couldn't help it. Jared was going to be so worried, and I knew that I hadn't been overly nice to him the past few days. I was frightened though. I was scared of getting so attached and then one of us being ripped away from the other.

Just like what was currently happening. Only, pushing Jared away hadn't helped at all. I didn't feel any better. I needed him.

The car was barrelling down a dirt path, awkward silence filling the vehicle. I couldn't help but turn to my Father, rage bubbling up inside of me.

"What he hell are you doing?" I blurted out, and he turned his neck to glare at me for a few seconds before focusing on the road in front yet again, remaining silent.

"Why won't you just leave me alone? Why do you have to do this to your own daughter?"

His lack of response was pushing me, and I yanked at the car door handle, knowing full well that it wouldn't open, but, I had to at least try.

"Don't bother," my Father spat, placing his hand on my own and yanking it away from the car door. "You made your decision."

"You forced me," I cried. "You threatened to kill Gia."

"Oh, give it a rest, Anna," he grumbled, shaking his head and scoffing. "They're all werewolves. Humans and werewolves don't mix. You were kidding yourself thinking that you could be in a relationship with one of them."

"It wasn't just a relationship," I growled back, my hands shaking.

"I don't care what it was," my Father chuckled, looking at me in disgust. "He would have left you eventually anyway. He wouldn't have wanted to keep you around. He needs someone of his own kind."

My Father knew nothing about Jared and I. He knew nothing about love.

"How do you know about werewolves?" I suddenly said, realising that their existence was supposed to be a secret. I didn't understand how my Father knew.

"I know more than you think."

My Father quickly pulled the car to a stop, and he hopped out, opening up my door and pulling me onto the ground. I tried to fight back, but my Father had always been a very tall man, and easily overpowered me.

"Get off me!" I yelled, and he clamped his hand over my mouth, muffling my cries. I was dragged through the trees until some sort of tree-house came into view. It was rugged looking, and appeared to be falling apart.

Dragging me up the steps, my Father pushed me in through the front door, slamming it shut behind us. He released my mouth, and I shoved at his chest, causing him to press his gun to my own.

"I won't hesitate to shoot you," he huffed, and I glared at him.

"Then shoot me. I would rather die than be trapped here with you."

"Let's not be hasty now, Anna." I turned around at the sound of the voice, gasping once a tall blonde came into view, her slender body leaning back against the wooden wall.

Amelia.

She sauntered up to me, playing with a lock of my curly brown hair, twiddling it between her thumbs.

"What are you doing?" I mumbled to her, staying completely still.

Her, I was afraid of. I knew she wouldn't hesitate to rip my jugular out and film it, sending it to Jared as revenge for apparently breaking her heart. Although, I knew what a crazy psychotic person she really was. Jared was far better than her.

"What?" Amelia questioned in mock shock, clutching at her heart. "Surprised that I'm here with your daddy?"

I looked between them both, backing myself up against the wall.

"I actually have you to thank for that, Anna," Amelia told me, raising her brows. "You gave me the idea. When I visited you at the school, you mentioned something about you Father, and after that, I tracked him down. He was more than happy to work with me."

"What are you going to do to me?" I muttered, clenching my fists, eyeing up the door and wondering if I would be able to make it out without both of them catching me.

I knew the answer already though. No.

Amelia would grab me in a second. It would rile her up, and then she would take her anger out on me even more.

"Whatever we want," Amelia spoke, offering me a small smile, making her way over to me and hooking her finger under my chin. "You know, it's a shame, because you're actually quite pretty."

I gazed over at my Father who dropped his gaze, pulling up a chair and taking a seat.

"Where's your Mother, Anna?" he asked me, and I furrowed my brows.

"I don't know."

"No?" Amelia asked, taking a step back from me. "Well, then I guess it's time for a little family reunion."

I watched in confusion as Amelia disappeared through a door, eventually reappearing with someone following closely behind her. She had her arm wrapped around her waist, and she threw her to the ground in front of me, my mouth hanging open.

"Mother?" I muttered as I pushed away her short blonde hair from her face, taking in her tear stained cheeks.

"Isn't that sweet," Amelia spat, laughing.

My Mother stared at me with wide eyes, clutching at my hand and shuffling herself next to me. She wrapped her arms around me, engulfing me in a hug before turning to look at Amelia and my Father.

"Leave Anna out of this," she hissed, but my Father shook his head, humming to himself.

"That's impossible," he grunted, stalking towards us and grabbing my Mother by the shoulder, yanking her upwards. "We have so much lost time to make up for."
