Runnin'
It felt like forever, the human and Sans staring at each other. Then, they raised their weapon. Sans was moving almost on instinct. Whipped around to flee. He couldn't go home now - that was putting Papyrus in danger, but if he could keep the human distracted and lead them out and away from town, maybe to the guard, then everyone could be safe! He couldn't watch the people he cared about die. Not again! "Wha- WAIT!" The human ran after Sans, just as he hoped would happen. Who in their right mind would leave any survivors? Sans winced upon seeing that the human was catching up quickly, though. He was cold, his soul was shocking him in warning to warm up, and the two weeks bedrest certainly didn't help. He had no choice, it seemed. He was gonna have to slow them down with magic. He was weary to do so after the C.O.R.E shock, but if he was gonna live, he had no choice. Sans turned suddenly, summoning bones to fire at the human. The human tried to slide to a halt as well and yelped as the bones came flying at them. Sans took off running while they were distracted.

Sans shuttered, his bones rattling violently. The human was out there somewhere, and he didn't know which guard even worked tonight. For all he knew, he was running to an empty station. They needed a night shift or something. That'd be nice. Still, he pressed forward, determined to get himself to safety and the human captured. "g-gd! please tell me your here-" Sans broke through the trees and into a field of snow poffs where a doghouse sat in the middle. Unfortunately for him, Greater Dog had a bad habit of hiding in the snow poffs, meaning he was going to have to search every damn one if he was gonna find him. It almost seemed better to keep running - neither of them really had the time for this. "greater dog!" Sans growled out as he glanced around the snow poffs, looking for any signs of the canine monster. With nothing to show, he ultimately decided to screw it and try the next station. Maybe it was Lesser or the Dogi out tonight. He weaved and jumped over the snow poffs around, trying to get out of the field before the human caught up.

A bang echoed through the trees of the surrounding forest, and Sans felt a sharp pain in his shoulder as he stumbled into the snow. He tried to pick himself up, but it only hurt his shoulder worse, and there was red staining the snow. "I tried to tell you to stop." Sans turned his head to the voice. The human, gun raised, and smoke coming out of the end of the weapon. "Your kind doesn't really like to listen." Sans bones rattled again, though whether it was from pain, fear, cold, or adrenaline, he wasn't sure. He was gonna die here, just like his parents. He was gonna leave Papyrus all alone to the foster system. Tch, over his cold, dead dust. "w-well ya h-holding a weapon a-and waving it a-around like th-that ain't g-gonna get y-you friends," he stuttered, trying to subtly scoot back while he applied pressure to his shoulder. He could feel something leaking out of the wound. "Yeah, well, I wouldn't need it if your species wasn't trying to take my soul!" The human snapped back, seemingly offended. Sans sucked in a breath and turned the kids' soul blue, throwing them back before they could shoot.

He was running again in no time. Lesser Dog wasn't anywhere to be found, which meant it was the Dogi on watch. They were the closest to town, which personally made him anxious, but surely the human couldn't take them both on at once, right? Gaster was with them when Sans spotted the canines. He wasted no time trying to get their attention. "d-doc! dogamy! d-dogaressa!" They all turned, and Sans couldn't slow down fast enough not to slam into the Royal Scientist. "i-i-it's following m-me! th-the human- th-that way!" He stuttered and pointed, and the dogs snarled and wasted no time rushing to where he'd been pointing. "You're freezing, Sans... and injured, too... come on, let's get you taken care of." Gaster picked Sans up before he could stammer out anything, and Sans winced as Gaster jostled his injury. As Gaster started to walk away, Sans noticed something shining bright in the corner of his eye. It was some sort of bright four point star, glowing gold in the dark of night. He tried to get Gaster's attention, but as soon as he saw it, it was gone.

Sans woke up to Papyrus jumping on him. Sans groaned out as the child landed on his ribs. His shoulder didn't hurt in the slightest. He couldn't feel anything close to a fever he no doubt should have if he'd been out in the ice and snow that long. Another vivid dream, then? "ugh, i'm up, i'm up..." He complained as Papyrus bounced on him. "YOU DON'T LOOK 'UP' BROTHER! YOU ARE STILL LAYING IN BED! YOU SAID WE COULD BUILD SNOWMEN TODAY!!!" Papyrus screeched, and Sans had to take a deep breath so as not to get annoyed and snap. "that's cause you're on my chest, bro..." Papyrus blinked, looked down, then slid off Sans. "NOW GET UP!" Gaster coughed politely from the doorway as Sans sat up. "Papyrus, what did I say about waking your brother?" Papyrus looked down and mumbled something, but Sans wasn't really paying attention. Rather, he was jolting down something in some notebook. "it's fine, doc. i needed to get up anyway." Sans clicked away at a pen as he looked at the drawn image of a four point star. The reoccurring thing in every dream he'd had since the C.O.R.E shock.
