The Bad Boy's Journal by HeyItsJovana
Reviewer: AnnQueen5
Cover: Decent, could be better.
Review: This book is as simple as it gets. It is honestly just plain contemporary. Classic, girl falls in love with the boy next door while she has an amazing boyfriend, who ends up cheating on her, and then she falls in love with the player that is the boy next door. There's nothing special about this book. It's very straightforward and to the point. There's not much to say about the characters. Elena is your classic sassy girl and Diego is the timeless bad boy next door. The minor characters are pretty bland. They play the role they need to play perfectly fine, but there isn't anything special about them. Overall, this book is just plain simple.
Suggestions: And simplicity is this book's downfall. It is almost too simple, with nothing really driving the plot or a goal in mind. There are no twists or turns, no mystery to the story. All of the best contemporary books have some sort of twist or mystery to them. This book is just talking about the life of a person. No before or after. No big secret to be revealed, nothing. It starts with the Diego moving in next door to Elena and just goes from there. There isn't anything noteworthy to say. I didn't find it honestly all that interesting because there was nothing driving the plot. For future revisions, I suggest you add an element of mystery to the story to really showcase the plot, cause right now, I ain't seeing any.
