Chapter 9// Lush Life
Guys, I have exams on Monday, pray for me and wish me luck (because I think I'm gonna fail most of them)
Oh and thank you for the 1.8K reads, let's aim for over 2k before the end of June.
Sky's P.O.V
Our project was to write a different ending to a well known story. It's quite simple really, the only problem was that Evan and I couldn't agree on a book.
"I still think Romeo and Juliet is the best option" Hs said for like, the millionth time.
I rolled my eyes. He is such a girl.
"Yeah but imagine how bad the ending would be. They'd both live, their families will get on great and it'll just end really happily"
"And what's wrong with happy endings?"
I rolled my eyes again. I've been doing that a lot lately, I'm surprised they haven't rolled to the back of my head.
"They're way overrated and and boring"
This time, he rolled his eyes. This is when I realized how beautiful his eyes actually are. They're the type of eyes that you couldn't exactly tell what colour they are unless you were standing really close to him. They were a dark green on the outside but got lighter on the inside. I'm pretty sure there was some yellow in there too.
"Well what book does her majesty recommend?" I ignored the sarcasm in his voice and replied with "The Fault In Our Stars".
"But won't that have a happy ending too?"
(A.N Spoiler alert)
"No, instead of just the guy dying, we could make the girl die too. I think that would make it really interesting."
Evan looked at me and smiled. I smiled back at him then started writing. The quicker we finish this, the better. I wrote about thee lines then I put the pen down.
"Evan?" I asked. He didn't bother looking up, he just hummed in response.
"I'm bored"
He looked at me gave me the are-you-kidding look.
"It's been two minutes"
I shrugged. "Yeah but I feel like we should be out there, really enjoying our lives, you know? Not sitting here doing our homework"
"I think that-"
"Omg, when I was on my way here I saw a fair"
"Cool, but I think we should fini-"
"Yes, you're right. Let's go"
Without waiting for his response, I chucked all our books in our bags then pushed him out of his seat.
"Why are you so violent?" He whined as he scratched his bum.
I gave him a disgusted look but helped him up anyway. I grabbed his arm and dragged him towards the exit of the library.
He really was light for a boy.
Out of nowhere, the librarian, who was dressed in weird clothes, stood in front of us.
"Sshhh" I cringed when she spat on my face.
"You stupid, young children, always making trouble wherever you go" He shook her head in disappointment and gave me a stern look when I rolled my eyes at her.
"Ok, I'm sorry. Bye" I pushed her out the way and left the library dragging Evan along with me.
I swear, librarians take their job way too seriously. Like, geez fam, calm down.
I entered the gates along with Evan and all the way too enthusiastic children who had been dragging their parents, who had less enthusiastic expressions on their faces, with them.
One minute we were all walking on the path that lead to the rides and the next, all that could be seen were the small children pouncing on the man that had a wonderful scent around him. Hotdogs. Amongst all the depressed parents, which is probably because they've spent their money on hotdogs, were countless children devouring like carnivores would their pray.
Some little kids were smothered from forehead to chin with tomato ketchup. The kids looked like they were on cloud nine, eating their delicious hotdogs, parents on the other hand, not so much. A lot of the parents looked really angry and glared at their kids as they wept the ketchup away using their sleeves. Some parents sighed and some just rolled their eyes.
Hehe, it's their fault. No one told them to go and have a kid.
What was even more funny was that the sight of the sizzling sausages on the barbeque had become too much for the parents and in a few minutes, they sported the same ketchup covered faces as their children.
I laughed quietly and ran with Evan to go on one of the rides.
~*~*~*~
"Ok, see you tomorrow" I hugged Evan goodbye and walked away.
I smiled as I thought of the funfair today, it was great fun. I haven't had this much fun in such a long time.
I took the bus back home. When I walked in, I gave the bus driver my card and when he nodded, I sat down. We were a few minutes away from my stop when Lush Life by Zara Larsson blasted through the radio.
OMG! I FLIPPING LOVE THIS SONG!
If it weren't for the old people here, I would've got up and started dancing. I mean, we all know that if you ever do something wrong in front if and old person, they will lecture you for like an hour and tell you how back then, when they were our age (which was like 100 years ago) everyone was well behaved and the kids respected their elders and vice versa.
Right. Like that ever happened. Kids respecting their elders, pfft, as if.
I was so into the song that I didn't even realise I had my missed my stop and we were already on the second stop after my stop.
Ugh. I guess my lush life isn't so lush anymore.
~*~*~*~
"What the hell do you think you're doing on my property?" He shouts really loud.
Yes, you'll never guess who I just bumped into.
Yeah that's right, Mr.JerkFace.
I don't even understand why he was shouting so loud, what's the point? I was standing a few inches away from him, yet he yells as if I were all the way in China.
"Well I don't see your name written anywhere, therefore you don't really have any evidence that it is your property"
"Do you not know who I am?" He asks in disbelief.
Yeah, an idiot that's who you are.
"I am the gang leader of one of the most feared gangs in America"
"Wow, oh my god, you're a gang leader. I'm sooo scared" I waved my arms and spoke sarcastically. He was really annoying me over here.
First he's rude to me, seconds he bumps into me at the club third, he gets me fired from my job. And now, he's screaming and yelling at me when I didn't even do anything.
Ugh. He's such a jerk.
"You really don't know who you're messing with"
"Yeah, yeah ok. Whatever. Can you please just show me the way out? I need to be home like now"
"Awww, the little nerd has some manners. Isn't that cute?" He says in fake happiness and steps closer and pinches my cheek.
What the hell is wrong with this guy? First he yells at me then he pinches my cheeks. He should probably go visit a hospital soon, I think he needs to see a doctor.
"Right that's it. I've had enough of you and your stupid face" And without thinking twice I punched him in his face. Yasss, girl power.
Once I realised what I had done, I was shocked, really shocked.
I had only seen the guy a couple of times and I'm already punching him. What is wrong with me?
"I'm just gonna go now" And without waiting for a reply, I ran in the opposite direction. But then it is his fault, I mean he's the one who keeps annoying me. He was so nice when I first met him, surprise right? I sighed because this is how people are like these days.
Fake. They pretend to be your friend and they pretend to be nice to you. But that's it, it's all pretend. They lure you in with their sweet, caring actions and when you need them the most, they crush you. They stand all over you. They destroy you.
But you know what, that's not fair. That's not right. And it shouldn't happen. I won't let it happen.
Ladies and gentlemen, I have found myself a new job. It doesn't pay nor have a salary but it is very entertaining (well, would be for me anyway).
From this day on, my new, entertaining job, that I cannot wait for, is Annoying The Gangleader.
*Grins wickedly. I know I said I won't update till after exams but I got bored of revising so I decided to write.
LESS THAN TWO WEEKS LEFT OF SCHOOL. WOOHOOOOOO!
Anyway, leave a vote and comment (I always read all the comments)*
