05: The Black Mission

Gif: Niall Horan as Carson Flynn

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

"Ready?" Nate asked me as we crept into Blake's locker.

We came to school together at 7:30, so there aren't that many students yet.

"Ready," I whispered, taking out a card from my bag and slipped it into Blake's locker. "Step one, complete."

"Oh, look who is coming," Nate whispered, dragging me out of the lockers.

I took a peek from the wall to see a boy with a familiar dirty blond hair coming closer to our sight. Blake Adams was standing in front of his locker and opened it.

"He saw the card," I whispered to Nate, who was also hiding behind me. "Time for action."

As Blake took the card out and read it, I got out of my hiding place and walked to him.

"Oh, hi Blake," I said with a cheery tone. Drama club has been really helping me improve my acting skills. "Do you know where's Michelle?"

"Hey," he answered, looking quite surprised. "Oh, she hasn't t- I don't know, I haven't seen her today."

"Alright, thanks for the information," I said, giving him a fake smile. My eyes then landed on the card he was holding on. "What's that?"

"I don't know, someone must be pulling a sick joke," he chuckled. "It said, 'Congratulations, you have earned a reward for breaking a girl's heart.' Any ideas who might have sent this to me?"

"Hm," I said as if I were thinking. "I'm not sure. That person must really mean- I mean, you didn't break Michelle's heart didn't you?"

"Well," he said as his hands scratched the back of his neck. "I-"

"Hey, Anna," Nate said, suddenly appearing beside me. "And Blake. Can I talk to you?"

"Yeah, sure," I said. "See you around, Blake."

When we were far from Blake, Nate exclaimed, "That was sick, Anna! Drama club was really helpful to you; you could be an actress someday."

"Thanks, you're not bad yourself," I said with a grin. "I hope I can."

"So step two completed," Nate said as we both fist pumped. "Step three will be completed during or after lunch."

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Soon, it was lunchtime, and Nate, Michelle and I sat in our normal place.

"Hey, I haven't seen you both the whole day," Michelle said.

Only Nate and I shared Chemistry together today. Not that chemistry alright? Nate, Michelle and I shared Home Ec. and Math, Nate and I shared English, French, and Chemistry together, while Michelle and I both share History and Spanish.

Yes, I take both Spanish and French because I want to learn both languages and don't know which one to take, so I took both.

"Where have you been?" she asked.

"Doing stuff," Nate said with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"We aren't kidding when we said we are going to finish your business with him," I said, and I regretted saying that because Michelle's expression suddenly turned to a frown for a second. "No, Chelle, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that."

"No, it's fine," she said, smiling a little; with a glint of hurt flashed in her eyes. "I just had a sudden flashback of him and me together."

"Don't worry, you'll get someone way better than him," I said. "Or not I'll help you find someone. I mean we; right Nate?"

"Huh? Oh, yeah," he said before grinning.

He seemed to be going to his own world lately. I wonder what's going on.

"Hello people," suddenly a voice said. "I haven't sat here in what, ten million years?"

"Hey Ashton," Nate said, giving him a bro hug or whatever you call it.

"What brings you here?" I questioned. "Your friends ditched you because you're such a loser?"

"Ouch, my heart," he said emotionlessly, clutching on his heart. "No, I left them because I'm too awesome for them."

Suddenly, Michelle started laughing, which was contagious and we also started laughing.

I'm glad that we can entertain Michelle and make her forget about Blake even though it's only for a while.

"Actually I just came to sit down with you guys because I felt that I missed sitting with my sister and her friends sometimes," Ashton said, ruffling my hair, which earned him a death glare from me.

"Sometimes I wish I have an older brother so that I can give someone a death glare like that," Michelle said as she cracked a smile. "Being the only child sucks."

"I have an older brother and it's not fun at all," Nate said, rolling his eyes playfully.

"I haven't seen Jonathan in six months," Ashton told Nate. Jonathan is Nate's older brother who is a year older than Ashton. They've known each other since they were in diapers. "I kind of miss him."

Thanks to Ashton and Jonathan's friendship, Nate and I know each other and became close friends until now.

Now he is in his first year in university taking law. He said he will come back during his semester breaks. Jonathan is like my second older brother, maybe better than Ashton. Shh, don't tell Ashton though.

As soon as Nate and I were done eating lunch, I dragged him out of the seat. Literally.

"Well, Nate and I have to go on a mission. See you later," I said, winking at both Ashton and Michelle.

"Wait!" Ashton exclaimed, running to us. "What mission?"

"I'd like to call it the Black Mission," I smirked, and Ashton looked as confused as ever while Nate mirrored my expression, meaning he understood what I meant. "Well, you know Blake? Yeah, him, he dumped Michelle to go back to Amanda."

"Amanda as in Amanda Dales?" he asked as his brown eyes widened. "She's back, as in back in Midlands High?"

"Yes, brother," I said. "Nate and I have a plan to make Blake regret breaking Michelle's heart."

"May I join?" Ashton asked with a mischievous grin. "I'm really good at these kinds of stuff, you know."

I looked at Nate, and he nodded his head. "Yeah, sure dude."

"If you mess up, we will never recruit you for these kinds of things ever again," I warned.

"Yes, captain," Ashton mocked saluted. "So what should I do?"

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

"Have you understood the plan?" I asked Ashton, and he nodded his head. "You can do it."

Now, we're back at Blake's locker, we wanted to give a 'surprise' to him when he opens his locker.

"You got his combination right?" I asked Nate.

"Yes, Ma'am," Nate said jokingly. "Michelle still remembers his combination."

"Alright," I said, observing the hallway. "Okay, the coast is clear. No one is in sight."

It's actually still lunchtime, but the hallways were empty.

It's usual actually. They'll usually go to the lockers only 5 minutes before they go to class.

"Got the bomb?" I asked.

Nate showed us a plastic bag. "Yes. But it's covered, let me open it."

The three of us wore masks and Nate slowly unwrapped the plastic, revealing a clear plastic with an egg in it. It's not any kind of egg, but it's a rotten egg.

"Do what you got to do, Parker," I said to Ashton as I pushed him towards the direction of the locker.

Nate and I silently watched Ashton unlock Blake's locker and as he was about to put the egg in it, someone was coming.

Ashton looked at me, and I made a signal for him to come back, but it seemed that he didn't get it, and was greeted by a person.

"Hey, Ashton right?" a familiar brunet approached Ashton.

"Oh, yeah," Ashton said nervously taking off his mask. "Luke right?"

"I want to ask you something," he said.

"That's the Luke guy that you don't seem to like, right?" Nate whisper-asked.

"No, he is the guy that I strongly dislike," I hissed.

Nate silently snickered. "Such a strong word you used there."

"Alright, see you," I heard Ashton said as Luke went to the opposite direction.

I heard Ashton sighed in relief and quickly threw the egg onto Blake's locker before shutting it.

"Whew," Ashton said, wiping off his sweat from his forehead.

"What did he ask you?" I asked.

"He wanted to meet me later," he shrugged.

"Great, now step three completed. Now onto the final step, step four," Nate said with a mischievous grin.

"You got the eggs?" I asked Nate as we walked to the gym.

"Yes, Sir."

"Great," I said as I rubbed my hands menacingly.

We're about to go to Blake's gym locker and splat eggs in it.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

"What in the world?" I heard Blake exclaimed loudly as he went to his locker. "What awful smell is this?"

"Maybe it's from your locker?" Nate shrugged.

"Yeah dude, I think it's from your locker," some guy said as he passed by Blake. "It stinks so much."

I happened to be near Nate's locker, 'waiting' for him so that we could go to class together. Actually since Nate's locker is near Blake's locker, -the lockers are somewhat arranged in alphabetical orders by our last names- we decided to spy on Blake to see his reaction.

"Try to see for yourself," I suggested nonchalantly.

Blake nodded his head and opened his locker. I heard him say a bunch of really colorful words.

"What the- who did this?"

I tried my best to suppress my laughter and to keep a straight face. His reaction is really hilarious.

Suddenly Blake turned to Nate and me.

"Did you do this?" he outraged. "Because I smell something fishy."

"I didn't eat fish," Nate said innocently. "Did you eat fish, Anna?"

"No," I shook my head. "I didn't."

Blake narrowed his hazel eyes in suspicion. "When I received the card, you were here, and when there is this in my locker, you're also here."

Nate and I nervously looked at each other.

"You were the one who wrote that, didn't you?" he asked, raising his voice which gained some of the students' attention. "Michelle told you didn't she?"

I froze on the spot along with Nate. "W-what do you mean?"

"Oh, cut the act already," Blake said as he laughed humourlessly.

"Is it true that you dumped her because you didn't actually love her and you were just using her to waste your time?" I asked, my voice also rising. "And that you wanted to come back with your ex-girlfriend, who I may add, dumped you first?"

Blake's eyes softened and he ran his hand through his hair. "I-"

"You know how stupid you are?" I exclaimed, interrupting him. "She loved you, you said you loved her too, then all of a sudden you wanted to break up with her and told her all those."

"Look, I'm sorry," he said.

"Too late," I said. "And don't say that to me, tell that to the person that you have been using for seven months. Tell that to the one who you have been using just to waste your time."

Blake didn't say anything; he just stood still.

"If I see my friend gets hurt again because of you," Nate suddenly said, pointing a finger at him. "You will regret it very much. Never mess with us."

"You hear that Adams? Never mess with us again," I hissed. "This is only the first warning."

"Anna, let's go," Nate said, grabbing my arm. "We're already seven minutes late."

We ran to our Home Economy class and luckily the teacher wasn't there yet when we arrived, so we're safe.

When I entered the class, I quickly spotted Michelle and sat next to her and Nate.

"Why were you late?" she asked.

"I had to do some business," I said secretively. "He caught us."

"What did he say?" she asked, shocked.

I quickly told her what happened and her face was really shocked once I was finished.

Michelle was about to say something, but the teacher interrupted her.

"Okay class, so today we are going to make some cupcakes," Mrs Ryder said. Yes, she is the wife of the English teacher, Mr Ryder, the one who gave me detention for being late few days ago. "I'm going to pair you up with partners, so just listen."

"Michael and Tina, Nate and Angel, Michelle and Luke," the teacher started, and Michelle shot me a wink once she was called. "Blake and- where is Mr Adams?"

"Right here," a voice said as the door opened. "Sorry I'm late, I had to clean up some stuff."

Blake had already given Nate and I death glares when he entered the class.

"Alright, Blake and Amanda," Mrs Ryder said and Amanda squealed in delight.

"You hear that Blakey? We're paired together!" Amanda exclaimed too loud for my liking. Blake stared at her and curtly nodded.

I saw Michelle's face dropped for a moment before going back to her usual expression.

The teacher resumed reading the pairs, "And finally Anna and Carson."

I scanned the room for Carson, and I saw Nate winking at me. I could feel my face turning pink.

"Hi, partner," I said as I sat next to Carson.

"Hey," the Irishman spoke.

"Okay class, so now I'm going to give you the ingredients and you may start," Mrs Ryder said as she distributed the ingredients to us.

"Shall we make cupcakes?" I asked Carson.

"We shall," Carson said, licking his lips. "I can't wait to eat it."

Hey, so I wrote 2,200+ words for this chapter only (-: yay!

And I'm supposed to update by Friday/Saturday, but today is Sunday.

The reason why is because I don't have internet.

Okay, so how was the chapter?

I'm not used to writing the 'emotional' part, so I need your feedback. Is it too overreacting or just okay?

How about the prank/revenge? Is it good or bad?

I really need your feedback so I can improve, guys!

Thank you so much for 180 reads, nearly 200, yay!

I hope by the time I update the next chapter I'll get 200 reads already (:

Don't forget to vote and comment and sorry for the long a/n.

See you!

Next update: Friday maybe (bc school)
