9- The Doctor is in The House

Jamie's POV

Anne's hand fit in mine and I lead us toward the Devil's doctor office. I felt cold sweats starting to occur and my body was burning up.

Our feet made pattering sounds as we walked on the cement floors, hiding in the shadows. It was quite hard to see in the dark.

'Of course, it is.'

"Jamie, where are we going? I'm scared," Anne whispers.

My hand tightens its grip on hers, trying to comfort her as much as possible. Anne whimpers but stays quiet while we were heading to the...doctor's office.

"We are heading to the Chapel. God can help us there. He is always there," I stated.

I lurk deeper into the dark shadows, hearing doors slamming open and close. I let go of Anne's hand, waving her back.

"Stay here. I'm going to check if the coast is clear. I'll call you when it is safe."

I begin to walk but Anne pulls me back.

"No, no Jamie, don't leave me alone."

'Stock, this isn't a good idea.'

'She needs to come with us,'

'Terrible feeling...that is all I am feeling.'

My throat starts to tighten, but I fight off the urge to allow her to follow me.

"Shh, I know. I will be back in one minute. I promise. Just give me one minute, that's all I need."

Anne let me go with great hesitation and I smile warmly at her,

"Don't worry," I whisper.

My body faces away from her as I got goosebumps from a cold breeze. A shiver runs down my spine but I keep a straight face and start to walk.

Another door slams shut next to me. My head turns.

Nothing.

'Just keep walking.'

'No one is here Jamie.'

'Wait! There is a guard in the room where we...well murdered Jane!'

'Let's end him,'

I crouch down immediately and sneak into the room, hiding behind the curtains. The guard turns his head to me causing me to slap my hand against my mouth. His footsteps became louder as he neared his way closer to me.

I stood up and grabbed a handful of the curtains, getting ready to do something.

'Jamie, throw it over him and run!'

'Find a sharp object and stab him!'

Before the guard could come any closer, I let out a warrior cry and startled him. The curtain was thrown over him and I ran. My eyes wandered to the table I hid under, seeing a pair of scissors laying on top of it.

I sprint and grab it. The guard removes the curtains from himself and pointed his gun toward me. Before he was able to do anything...I stab the scissors into his neck, tasting his red blood.

He fell onto the ground with a struggle, shooting a few bullets while doing so.

"I'm sorry! I need to get to heaven," My voice shudders.

"J-Jamie?" Anne yelps.

I turn my head to see her peeking from the door. Letting out a deep breath, Anne sprints into my arms, holding my cheeks in her hands. I rest my forehead against hers, closing my eyes with content.

"See? I told you I'd be alright,"

'She was worried you, idiot!'

'Kiss her!'

'Shut up.'

My lips slowly push against her soft ones. I hum with satisfaction and pull away quickly.

"We need to hurry," Anne speaks.

Agreed.

*****

My finger was pressed up against my lips to keep Anne quiet. I could hear Devil in his office as he was speaking to some patient. Or so I thought.

The Chapel was so close, it was only a couple doors down but it was a lot harder to get there than I assumed.

"So, now what do we do?" Anne asks.

Without any warning, Devil opened the door. Anne screams and hides behind me while I hold an arm up as some source of protection.

"You came right to me!" Devil yelled.

He laughed maniacally and grabbed the sleeve of the hospital gown I was wearing. I was dragged away from Anne once again.

"No! Let him go! Please! Please just take me instead!" Anne screamed more.

I shook my head and tried to leave his grasp. It was no use but I still tried and tried until the feeling of bruises and burns started to take over.

"Anne, my love! Stick to the plan! I love you and I will find you! RUN!"

'Go with Devil!'

'Save Anne!'

'What the hell man!?!'

'STAY WITH HER!'

They knew that I couldn't do that. If I did, Anne could die! I just let Devil take me into the office and watched as Anne ran away with a pained face.

Devil slammed the door behind me causing me to flinch harshly. He dragged me onto the bed, shoving me against it. I struggle more against his hold, kicking and wiggling around.

"Jamie, I would stop if I were you," Devil threatened.

'Keep fighting!'

'Don't give up!'

I headbutted Devil in the nose, causing him to let go of me.

"Oh no, you don't!"

A piercing needle struck into the side of my neck. A hissing sound left my lips and my vision began to get blurry.

D-did he just drug me? Oh God, I hope not.

Dr. Burrell's POV

4 hours later

His eyes had opened and they were quite red.

"Good, you're awake,"

His body was still very limp and he seemed to act very drowsily. His eyes would open then close repeatedly.

"Let me help you, boy!"

I slap him with great harshness allowing him to gasp loudly. My heart thudded in my chest, watching his pure face.

"Jamie, this must stop!" I had demanded.

It was for the best. I had to run tests on him! He was quite special.

He was strong, not like the others. He was the cure to end it all. To end all the pain and suffering.

Jamie Stock is the cure to all mortailty. I knew it well enough.

The others were okay...but he was perfect.

"Let. Me. Go..." His voice muttered.

I scoff and turn around, glaring at the metal tray with medical equipment. I had the needle laying neatly. The one I had used to drug him.

"Now, now Jamie. You are special, you know that?"

My face was really close to his. And he spits on me.

"Get away from me!"

Jamie continues to scream on the top of his lungs. I'm sure the entire center may have heard him.

"Jamie stop it! Okay, I have to do this now. I'm sorry."

I turn for a second, my vision back onto the metal tray.

A small knife glared from the lights, and I smiled. I walk up to it.

"What? Oh no, you can't do this! You won't do this!" Jamie whimpered.

The handle of the knife was quite cold, it felt nice. As I brought it back to Mr.Stock, the tension seemed to just rise.

I wipe the sharp side of the knife on the tip of my finger, giving myself a small cut.

Hm.

Once the red liquid began oozing out, my warm tongue licked it away, tasting the metallic blood.

I rest the blade on Mr. Stock's chest, our faces becoming very close.

"You are special Jamie. You are going to help me."

Jamie's POV

'Jamie, run. You have to escape. He's going to do something bad!'

The swift sound of the knife cutting the ropes that held me against my will.

Devil let me free.

"I trust that you won't be running. Now, let's finish this." Devil muttered.

The knife digs straight into my right side. I bite my lip hard, tasting the blood.

I kick in his knee, giving me a chance to sprint. I make it to the door...but I'm too late. He's already up again.

"Please, w-why are you doing this?"

With the corner of my eye, I see the bloody knife in his hand again. I back up to a wall.

Devil stabs my stomach, and I stare into his evil eyes. His lips are close to my ear and he whispers,

"I'm doing it for me."

He pulls the knife out and was about the stab me once more...but I twist his wrist letting it sink into him.

It gives me more time to get to the door. I limp there, opening it shakily. I escape Devils wrath and head back to Anne.

"A-Anne!" I yell.

The chapel was a few doors down and I tried my hardest not to fall.

My vision blurred and I moved from left to right because of a large amount of blood loss.

"Anne!" I call out for her once more.

Her face is clear in view as two large doors fly open. She turns her head toward me, sighing in relief.

"Jamie! Come here!"

Her eyes wander to my best down body and she screams. Anne's hands fly to her mouth and she rushes to my aid.

I collapse in her warm arms as she shifts under my heavy weight.

"Let's get you into the Chapel right away! Maybe God can help us!"

I cough up blood, spitting near the ground next to me.

"He tried to kill me! Devil tried to kill me!"

'Hey, you're freaking her out.'

'Tone it down a bit!'

"Just...help me into the Chapel and I will tell you everything."

She nods quickly and helps me into the house of God.

We make it inside and close the door behind ourselves. I sit on one of the pews and groan in pain.

Anne pushes some of the pews in front of the massive doors, creating a barrier.

"Okay, what can I do? How do I stop the bleeding?" Anne asks.

'Put pressure on the wound.'

"Pressure...on the wound. You have to put pressure on them."

"Woah, what do you mean 'them'?"

I wasn't surprised that she didn't notice. There was too much red everywhere TO notice.

I take the hems of the little clothing I wore, tearing it off of my body. The cold air caused the stabs to burn more.

My hand had a strong grip on the blood-soaked cloth, putting pressure on my side.

Anne yelped while she looked around the dim Chapel for some other pieces of clothing.

"Ah ha!"

My pained expression turned to Anne watching her take Mary's headdress. The Nativity set was quite beautiful, but hard to focus on.

'At this point, anything to forget about the pain is valuable!'

'Agreed.'

'Nah. Pain is pleasure, pain is beauty.'

'Stop lying and be nice for once.'

"Stop it! This isn't the time to argue!"

Anne saw the anger in me, taking a few steps back.

I frown and shake my head in shame.

"No, no I wasn't speaking to you Anne. I would never talk to you that way."

She gulped slowly, taking one step forward.

"Then who were you speaking too?"

I couldn't tell her. She would think of me differently and I didn't want that.

I loved her too much to let that happen.

I scream in pain when Anne puts to scratchy blue cloth on my stomach, pushing hard.

I'm glad she didn't ask any further questions...

The bleeding was definitely slowing down.

'That's good to hear. Now, we really to escape. Screw New York!'

'Jamie, Hawaii sounds pretty fun if you ask me.'

'Oh! I think somewhere out of the country might be better! Maybe...France?'

My eyes wanted to roll to the back of my head badly, but Anne was basically staring into my soul.

"Please. Don't die on me. I can't lose you."

A tear fell onto her soft cheek. I reach the pad of my thumb to her cheek, wiping it.

"Y-you won't lose me. I'm still here and I always will be. I love you, Anne."

She sniffled deeply taking a seat next to me while still holding pressure on my tummy.

"I love you too Jamie."

'We still need to escape. We are not dying in hell.'

'We are going to heaven. That is the plan.'

'Almost there.'
