8- Finding Anne or...Me?
Jamie's POV
My body shivered at the cold air meeting my sweaty skin. Devil slammed his hands angrily on top of the table I used for protection causing a loud whimper to leave my mouth.
"Wait, shh...did you here that?"
Devil's boots thud harshly on the tiled floor.
'We are dying,'
'He's going to find us! Jamie, do something!'
What could I do? Okay, I had to stay my ground, I mean he had to leave eventually. Right?
"Find him, or so help me I will make your life a personal hell you will live with until you die." Devil yelled.
The guards nodded, running out of the room with their guns and armor. Devil sighed angrily and kicked the table, exposing me in full view for him. He turned around, pinching the bridge of his nose with his eyes closed.
'Jamie, RUN!'
'Hide behind the curtains!'
My hands supported my weight and I lightly jogged behind the blood stained curtains breathing heavily. I gulped a ball of spit that formed in my mouth. Devil whistled and soon left the...room.
He slammed the door behind him, locking it. Oh no. No, no, no, no. This can't be happening. I sprint to the door and jiggle the door knob before slamming my head repeatedly on the wooden barrier in front of me.
"Stupid! I'm so stupid!"
'Finally!'
'He realizes it!'
'Hush, he is sad!'
'Jamie, why so sad?'
Stupid! I am so stupid! How could I get locked in this room. Especially this one? I suck in a breath and turn around slowly looking at my surroundings. Bad memories flooded my mind, memories that I wanted to burn.
The surgical table that Devil kicked showed all the tools he used, especially those suture scissors. They weren't even used for that! He used them to cut through the flesh instead, used to grab the "good stuff" he said.
What did he mean by that? No one knew.
'Jamie, come one we need to find her,'
'It is too late, she is dead.'
'Dead.'
'That is going to be you if we don't do something!'
Anne wasn't dead, I could feel it. She was still with me and my gut told me that. We need to find her fast!
My feet lead me to the other side of the room, on the opposite side of the other curtains. There was another door, one that had a small window in it. I walk up to it, praying that it is open.
Before finding out myself, the door creaked open causing me to hide behind it. In walked Jane, her heels clicked loudly as she walked up to the hospital bed resting in the middle of the room.
Her eyes glared and flickered around to boxed area until finally...they met mine. I jumped in front of her, covering her mouth with my rough and dirty hand. I pushed her against the bed watching her struggle in my grasp.
"J-Jane,"
'She knows where Anne is!'
'Threaten her!'
'Do it.'
My other hand wrapped around her neck, choking her life before her eyes. She screamed and whimpered causing my hand to become wet from her saliva. Ugh, gross.
"Jane, you are going to tell me where she is, w-where my Anne is."
She nodded desperately trying to get me off of her. I slowly remove my hand but keep a strong hold on her neck...just in case.
Jane was breathing heavily, choking on her words and begging for air.
"P-please don't kill me. I-I'll tell you everything I know, just don't hurt me!"
"Where is she?" I asked again.
"W-who?" Jane questioned.
Ha! Of course she was playing with me like this.
'Snap her neck,'
It was exactly what I did, hearing the crunching sound that subsided afterward. Jane's thin body fell limp and crashed into the hospital bed, sliding it to the other side of the wall.
I knelt down next to her body feeling her up and down trying to find any kinds of keycards.
Huh, nothing.
'Jamie, we've gotta go!'
'Go to the cafeteria.'
'No that's too open!'
'We are going to have to sneak our way to the women's ward.'
I sprint to the door, shutting it behind myself while looking through the dimly lit hallway. To the right, a large bright exit sign was connected to the ceiling with gates that led to the outside. To my left were a few more doors.
'Just leave! Its right there!'
'Go left, we can't just leave Anne...we are the ones who put her here in the first place.'
I tug on my hair but urge more to the left. It was true, I was the one who brought her here in the first place.
Turning my head, there was nobody but me here. Good.
I try to open a few more of the doors, but they were all closed. I'm going to have to go through the outside, that was going to be a pain in the ass.
Once I make it outside, the white flakes fell from the sky and burned on my warm skin. It was a pinching feeling and I hissed in pain. The feeling wasn't something I wasn't used too though, It was the same feeling as Devil cutting my skin.
I was about to walk to the other side of hell when a cold, yet smaller hand stopped me from going any further. A gasp leaves my lips at the odd contact and I turn around with fright.
'Jamie! Look at who it is!'
'Jamie we did it!'
'Now let's get the hell out of here!'
"Jamie! Oh, I am so glad to see you!" Anne spoke with relief.
She gave me a huge hug, kissing my cheek every few seconds. I was too shocked to do anything back, even hold the girl I love in front of me.
'Come on!'
"Anne, h-how did you escape? How did you know that I was going to be here?"
Anne pulled away for a moment and rested her pointer finger on her chin, tapping it quickly.
"I was in the Cafeteria and overheard the lunch ladies talking. I followed the one who gave you food, sadly she was dead once I saw her. I heard a door slam and just assumed it was you..."
Anne put both hands on my cheeks, resting her forehead against mine.
"I'm just glad I found you. Now come on! Let's get out of hell."
Yes. That sounded really nice.
"Okay, we need to sneak our way out. Devil has every one scouting for me!"
Anne nodded and shivered at the cold breeze that flew by us. Her skin shined brightly in the sunset and her cheekbones were so much more defined. I feathered my fingers lightly against her soft skin, pushing my lips onto hers.
It was a soft yet subtle kiss.
'Ew, gross.'
'We need to get the f*ck out of here!'
"Jamie? I hear someone coming!'
I grab Anne and carry her to the other side of hell, hiding in the shadows. Two guards revealed themselves as they hold their guns to their chests.
"They were here." One said.
The other pointed to the ground, spitting some mucus that was in his throat,
"Look here, footprints. They trail that way," His finger is pointed straight at us as we hide in the dark shadows.
Anne yelps and I cover her mouth the same way I did with Jane, hushing at her to be quiet. The two guards now aimed their large guns toward us, the clicking sounds of them made my heart drop to my stomach.
I bite on my tongue to prevent any noises from leaving my mouth. Their guns barely touched the tip of Anne's nose causing me to slowly move her to the side. I grab a hold of the gun, shoving it toward the first guard.
He held onto his bleeding nose, backing away slowly. The second one begun shooting causing me to crouch down and try to figure out how to work the gun.
"Jamie!" Anne screamed.
My eyes meet hers watching her back away deeper into hell's darkness without me. The guard was shooting at her. I pulled back the trigger making it jolt back. Bullets flew everywhere, and blood stained the pure white snow.
The guard near Anne fell down with a struggle as he knelt down before falling face first.
"Watch out!" Anne screeched out.
'Grab his leg!'
'Kick his knee!'
It was tough but I held onto his calf, not letting go once. My foot met his knee, popping it out of place until finally he dropped in pain. Hatred was written all over his face.
I climb on top of him and grab the large gun, facing the butt of it toward him. Blood splattered all over my face as I smashed his face in continuously. The crushing sound of his bones grinding gave me more motivation.
I use the gun to help me stand and I spit on his messed up face. Anne rustled out of the shadows, urging me to her. I immediately follow her back on the other side of hell seeing a window open. Anne shoved the olive green curtains out of the way before climbing in.
Soon, I did the same. We stay in the dark, slowly making our way forward. This gave me a moment to stare at Anne and admire her beauty, though it was hard with no light. Devil forced her into a gown, it was a light blue and barely touched the knee.
'Awe, a matching couple! How cute!'
'Blue is so not her color.'
'Jamie, you look hotter than her...just so you know.'
She grabbed a handful of her hair and moved it to one side of her shoulder, scratching the top of her head after. I come closer to her, behind her and rest me head on the back of her neck.
"I can't wait to go to heaven with you," I nibbled her ear a bit and wrapped my arms around her entire body.
"Me either Jamie. I know it is going to be the best thing ever. Much better than hell."
Of course it was going to be much better than hell! I've had dreams of heaven since I was 10! I always wanted to see the famous gates and meet God. I loved going to the chapel here and just learn more about how great it was.
I wasn't scared there...in the chapel. It was the closest I felt to heaven.
Wait a minute, maybe Anne and I can hide there? God can help us get there! Oh, she was going to love this!
'Just a second Stock, what makes you think God will help you?'
'God helps everyone, even the less fortunate like Jamie,'
'Hush now!'
"Yeah! Hush!" I whisper-yelled.
"Huh?" Anne hummed.
"I might have a place for us that can help us get to heaven. The chapel."
She turned around so quickly her hair whipped my face. I blew a raspberry. Anne rolled her eyes and crossed her arms, waiting for me to go on.
"T-the chapel should be open, I mean it can be the safest place for us right now. We just need to figure out how to get there."
I close my eyes and imagine the entirety of hell.
'The first place would have to be past Devil's check-up office.'
They were right. I hated that they were right. I despised that office where Devil tells you that everything is fine but it really is not. I remember the day I escaped...it was my last check-up and I was ecstatic about it!
I open my eyes to see Anne squinting at me in the dark.
"So? Any ideas?'
I nod and walk past her, leading the way to the office. She followed closely like a lost puppy, confused as to what was going on.
"Yeah, but I have a feeling you aren't gonna like it."
'Well Jamie, let's get to that chapel!'
