2: The Super Sneaky Sleepover
EDITED
Eleven-year-old Harry and Anna were walking home together after a long day. They both lived on Privet Dr., where the streets were lined with the exact same houses. All small. All brick-faced. All boring.
"Harry, what's wrong?" asked Anna, realizing that Harry had spaced out during her very important rant about Dudley.
"Nothing's wrong," he lied while avoiding her eyes.
"Look, I've known you for years. Obviously I know when something's wrong," she said, but when he didn't respond, she gasped and whispered, "Oooh, do you have a secret? You can tell me, you know I'll keep it."
"Well...okay. This is going to sound weird, but I keep getting letters. There's tons of them, like, hundreds! The thing is, my stupid aunt and uncle are doing everything they can so I won't see them. They're hiding something," Harry explained, looking into the distance as if that would help him figure out the mystery.
"That's odd...do you have any clue who they could be from?"
"No clue. The weirdest part is...they're addressed to my cupboard specifically. Then, I was allowed to have Dudley's old room and the address changed to that. It's like I'm being watched."
"Hm..." hummed Anna, trying to figure out a way to solve the problem. Suddenly she gasped. "I've got an idea! How about you sneak over to my house in the morning. That way, the letter should probably go there instead. Then you'll be able to open it and figure this out once and for all!"
"Anna...you're a genius!" he exclaimed, both of them grinning.
"You're just now figuring that out?" the blonde giggled. They stopped in front of Harry's house. "So the plan...you'll come over tomorrow morning at seven o'clock sharp. That'll give us about an hour until the post comes. The best part is, my family sleeps in."
"Sounds good. See you then!" Harry chirped and said goodbye before dreadfully walking into his house. Anna watched him and waited a bit. Fortunately, after a few seconds of silence, with no Dursleys yelling, she walked home.
When she arrived at the house identical to all the others, with the exception of a "10" next to the entrance, she flung open the door and hollered, "I'M HOME!"
"I can tell," muttered her cousin, covering her ears.
Violet was a teenager now, being two years older than Anna. She had short, light hair and bright blue eyes that, somehow, had the slightest violent tint. The girl was much taller and thinner than her younger cousin, and always would be.
"That was the point, Vi," Anna said with a grin, flopping on the couch in the living room.
"Well, there's no point in being so loud about it. Honestly, you're going to make someone deaf one of these days-"
"Me? Loud? You're delirious!"
"Yeah, I'm the delirious one," she scoffed, daintily taking a seat next to the blonde. "So, how was your day?"
"Good! I made a super sneaky plan with Harry."
"Ooooh, with your boyfriend? What's next? Marriage?"
"Violet..." Anna began quietly. Then, she suddenly seized her shoulders and yelled, "HE'S NOT MY BOYFRIEND! WE. ARE. JUST. FRIENDS!"
"Alright, agh, I'm sorry, just make it stop!" exclaimed the teen, covering her ears yet again.
"You're forgiven."
"Thanks...Anna Potter!"
"Alright, you're gonna get it!" the younger girl stated but Violet was already up and getting a head-start before she could get caught. Of course, she had the advantage, considering the fact that Anna was younger and shorter. Violet let the young girl tackle her onto the couch out of guilt. "Gotcha!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever, loser," Violet grumbled with a playful shove. "So, what's this super sneaky plan all about? I want in."
"Okay, so Harry keeps getting these odd letters and his stupid aunt and uncle won't let him see them. The weirdest thing is, the letters are addressed so specifically. Like when he was in the cupboard-"
"You said that so casually, 'when he was in the cupboard'," laughed the teen.
"Well sorry, but that's not the point. Anyway, we...well, I...came up with an awesome plan to have him sneak in early in the morning so the letter will come here," Anna finished, taking a breath. Violet just looked at the girl as she beamed. "I mean, great plan, right! I'm just that cool, up top!" The blonde put up a small hand for a high-five. Her older cousin couldn't help but chuckle.
"Yeah, okay, have your boyfriend sneak in," she paused to give Anna the hardest high-five in existence, leaving the girl to clutch her hand. "Awesome plan. But I hate to break it to you, you're eleven-"
"Woah, and what's wrong with that? Also, he isn't my boyfriend."
"Eleven-year-olds shouldn't have boyfriends, like what the heck."
"Well, I guess it's good that I don't then, right?" Anna asked with a laugh.
"Mhmm, if you say so."
"So, you're not going to tell Aunt Iris, right?"
"Tell Aunt Iris what?" asked a stern voice from the kitchen. The girls flinched in surprise, not even hearing the woman come home.
"Uhhhh, nothing," chuckled Anna nervously.
*NOTE: I have decided to change the names of her aunt and uncle in edited chapters. In original chapters, the names will be Jack (who is now Logan) and Lila (who is now Iris). I apologize for the inevitable confusion, but I'm pointing this out in an attempt to avoid people telling me I screwed up. I'm aware. These changes will make sense later*
More than not, Iris Kendricks was very compassionate and kind. She was the aunt-in-law of Anna, mother of Violet, and wife of Logan Kendricks. She was on the plumper and shorter side, and had a kind, slow southern drawl, originally being from the state of Alabama. Iris contrasted from her male counterpart, who was quite tall and lanky with a neutral accent and detached attitude.
Logan was Anna's mother's brother. Although he had this connection, he never really bothered to get close to his niece, secretly blaming her for his sister's death. But, nevertheless, he kept his suspicions shoved away, mouth shut, and granted his deceased sister's wishes of keeping her daughter safe.
Iris made up for his "absence".
"Didn't sound like nothing, but I won't pester ya'll," Iris said, giving a stern glare at the two girls. They internally flinched and she continued, "Well, I hafta get dinner started, you two plannin' on helpin' me?"
"Sure," the girls said in unison, following her into the kitchen.

Three minutes left. That's all Harry had to wait until he could walk over to Anna's. He didn't want to be too early, nor too late, so he waited until 6:58. That'd give him two minutes to sneak out his window, run over to Anna's, and wait for the letter to arrive.
Staring at a clock was, unfortunately, one of the child's common pastimes. It was either that or interact with Dudley.
Who wouldn't choose the latter?
When the 7 changed to an 8 on the little clock, the boy jumped up and shoved his window up, effortlessly climbing out, shutting it, and dropping to the ground without a sound. He jogged down the street, the sun was rising, casting shadows from the identical houses and trees. He reached Anna's house with a few seconds to spare.
Her room was on the second floor, and there she was, looking out the window with a smile plastered on her face.
The girl opened the glass and whispered, "I set up a ladder for you, just climb on up." Harry did as she said and quietly moved up, crawling into her room and landing on the soft beige carpet. He couldn't help but study the room, despite seeing it many times before. She had many trinkets, pictures, and CDs. The room didn't lack color, but didn't burst with it either; it was modest. "Hey, Harry, I know you're here for the letter...but I have something to pass the time."
"What is it?" asked Harry, eyeing Anna as a grin made its way across her face, a glint of mischief in her round grey eyes. Without a word, she opened her closet and rummaged around, finally taking out a small purple bottle. "Well?"
"It's a bottle of purple magic...also known as hair dye." When he gave her a confused look, the blonde continued, "So, you know how Violet's name is...well, Violet? As in the color? I think it'd be ironic if her hair were the same color. I've been saving this for a while, but now that I have a partner in crime....this is a great opportunity," Anna explained, eagerly awaiting her best friend's response.
"That sounds...awesome! But how are we going to do it without her noticing?"
"Oh, she'll notice, but it'll be after the fact. This stuff will mix in with her shampoo, so off to the showers we shall go! Luckily, she takes morning showers, but we have to be quick." And with that, they tiptoed to the bathroom and pulled back the shower curtain. Harry handed her the dye, but she said, "No, I'll allow you to do the honors."
The bottle was almost empty, so that would make the dye even more prominent. Before doing it, Harry asked, "Maybe we shouldn't do this, she's gonna get mad-"
"Oh hush, it'll only last a day or two...but she won't know that. Now do it, she'll be up soon!" she hissed, thrusting the shampoo bottle into his hands. He quickly did the deed and they scurried back to Anna's room the second they heard footsteps. Violet.
Twenty minutes passed before they heard a scream, then the door flung open to their room.
"YOU LITTLE BRATS!" screeched Violet. Her short hair hung limply, still wet. The dye really worked, considering the fact that her locks were now a very bright purple.
"Did you do something with your hair?"
"Screw off, Anna! You said he would come over just so he could get his stupid letter, not to do this!"
"Violet, chill out. It was my idea and fault, not his-"
"But I actually put the dye into the bottle and I'm sorry," Harry mumbled, daring a glance at the raging girl. She clenched her jaw, and just as she was about to say something, there was a tap on the windowsill.
An owl with a letter in its beak.

Me and Harry were walking home from school together, I was talking to him, but he seemed kind of out of it.
^i'm dumb. school isn't in the summer...?
~
"Violet, HE IS NOT MY BOYFRIEND, HE IS JUST MY FRIEND!" I yelled and she covered her ears.
"Whatever you say Anna Potter!" She said and then I chased her. We do this a lot. I have super long legs so I can run fast. I tackled her on the couch and we started laughing.
^okay, first off, you're eleven, not a supermodel with long legs. and second...why am i making this ship sail before the hogwarts shit even starts like?!!!
~
"It's a pleasure having you, please, call me Lila," she said and went to the kitchen. The Kendricks were really nice to me.
^lmao so yes, this was a joke/reference to Anna Kendrick. fun fact: over 100 comments told me this in the original chapter. thanks guys :')
~
"You two really should get together, you would really be a cute couple," said a voice behind us
"We're just friends!" we said at the same time and we both turned a deep shade of red. Violet was always trying to get us paired up. Honestly, I've always had a crush on Anna ever since the first day of Kindergarden, when we first met. She was just beautiful. She had tan skin, mid length dirty blonde hair, long legs, a perfect face structure, and beautiful deep brown eyes that you could just stare into forever. But I knew it would never happen. She would never want to be with me, I'm just Harry, her best friend. I would be friend zoned for life.
^okay but HARRY HOW ARE U FRIENDZONED IF YOU DIDN'T EVEN MAKE A MOVE?! also, why was i so adament about shipping them right off the bat tf. and why the hell did i use such awkward description for her omfg the cringe
~
"Do you ever consider running away. We could you know," she suggested.
^hunger games reference strong...but ur still eleven lmao. where u gonna go? the park?
~
"Should have said bye to you're little girlfriend when you had the chance," he said evilly.
^vernon even ships it. and...you're?
