(Y/n)'s POV
"Need a hand, milady?"
Finding the courage to open my eyes, I looked up to see a dark-haired man offering me his hand. The countless bodies of my enemies littered the ground, their blood painting the ground a rich red.
Hesitantly grabbing the man's hand, I let him pull me to my feet. He snaked an arm around my waist to steady my body. I surveyed my surroundings...not a single human left alive.
"T-thank you for your help...um..."
"Sebastian Michaelis, milady."
"May I ask why you decided to assist me?"
"I was intrigued."
"Intrigued?"
"Yes, intrigued. You have my full attention, milady."
"(Y-(Y/n) (L/n)."
"It seems that you are from a noble family."
"Yes, I am..."
"I am terribly sorry if your parents were killed in the crossfire."
"Don't concern yourself with their deaths. It is better this way..."
"You do not have a place to stay now that these assassins have burnt down your home, do you? You are welcome to stay with me. I am fairly sure that the young master will not mind."
"Thank you, but I cannot possibly trouble you any more than I have-"
"Lady (Y/n), I do insist. It would make me unpleasantly guilty if I left you to fend for yourself."
"O-okay, if you say so."
~At the Phantomhive manor~
Given a new change of clothes, I now stood in the library with a pile of books gathered on the table beside me. Researching those assassins was my top priority.
Sitting down in Ciel's armchair, which he insisted that he never used and would gladly allow me to keep, I picked up the nearest book and began reading. Most of the text did nothing to satisfy my thirst for knowledge.
As I read, I felt a presence in the room. Looking up, I noticed Sebastian standing beside the table holding a tray of tea. I quietly thanked him but he did not take his leave, which gave the impression that he had something to say.
"Was there something you needed, Sebastian?"
"I'm afraid I cannot keep myself under control."
"I'm sorry but I don't seem to understand what you mean."
"(Y/n), you're so innocent."
"S-Sebastian?"
I stood up, putting the book on the table. He walked towards me and to my surprise, had an arm around my waist to pull me in closer. I gasped as he forced his lips onto mine without so much as a warning.
Heat rushed to my cheeks even as I remained unsure of how to behave. Placing my hands on his chest, I tried putting some distance between us but his grip was firm and this only made him kiss harder.
"You're making me feel things I didn't think I ever would, (Y/n). Why must you do this?..." he asked huskily.
"S-Sebastian, I don't-"
He placed a finger under my chin and lifted my head up. I shyly met his gaze for this man was making me feel flustered even though I did not know why. I didn't even know him...
Soon enough, he had begun kissing my neck. I gasped as he reached my sweet spot. Gathering all the strength I could muster, I managed to push him away but the ever-present smirk on his face never faltered.
"*blush* Sebastian, what do you think you're doing?"
"My my, you are naive, my dear (Y/n). You should not tempt me so."
The door to the library opened. Ciel stood on the other side, a large frown visible on his face. I immediately lowered my gaze and dropped into a small curtsy.
"Sebastian, did you not hear me calling your name?! And I came all the way here to find you flirting with a guest? How very incompetent of you," the young earl exclaimed.
"Please forgive me, young master."
"Lady (Y/n), you seem flustered. Is Sebastian making you feel uncomfortable?"
"A-admittedly, yes."
"Come with me. Sebastian, don't come until I call for you."
I quickly followed the young earl, glad to leave the company of the butler. Trailing just a little behind Ciel, I found myself wondering how he and Sebastian met. Was it by mere chance or was there a hidden story behind it all?
Once we reached his office, he shut the door and gestured towards the sofas. I took a seat, realising that I had desperately needed a rest after the incident from before.
"Those assassins that murdered your family...Sebastian was the one who hired them to do the job," he exclaimed.
"...I see..."
"You don't seem upset. In fact, that is the opposite of how I thought you'd react."
"My...parents were never nice to someone such as myself. They wanted a boy but who knew that their firstborn child would be a girl?"
"Do you have any siblings?"
"I had a younger sister who died from a disease a few years ago."
"I see. But I don't suppose you need a reason for Sebastian's actions?"
"Actually, I am in need of an explanation. What led him to make those decisions? I've never met him before..."
"He has been watching you for some time. He's...infatuated with you."
"E-eh?"
"I'm afraid it's all true. I'm sorry for all the trouble he has caused you."
"N-no...it's fine..."
"Do you need some time alone?"
"Yes please..."
"Take as long as you wish."
He stood up and left the room. I walked over to the window and stared at the vast blue sky hanging above. Small, white clouds were scattered across the blue like a painting losing its colour over time.
A sigh escaped my lips as I continued to watch the scenery outside. It was seemingly peaceful out there...but the world was far from peaceful. Gripping the window still, I forced myself to forget.
"(Y/n)."
I turned around only to have Sebastian put a hand under my chin. Swallowing my nervousness, I faced him head-on.
"It seems that the young master has told you everything," he commented.
"Yes, he has."
"What do you think of me now that you know?"
"...I'm...not sure..."
He placed a kiss on my lips, and leaned in when I wasn't kissing back. Due to my shock, I could not reply to his question...his question of whether I would return his love...or leave his heart broken in two...
"Well, I hope you can decide soon, milady. I don't know how long I'll be able to hold myself back."
