First Impression Special! Chi's Sweet Home (2016)

NOTE: Ok ok ok, so I know this isn't a completed anime, in fact the first episode just came out subbed, but I thought since I loved the first two seasons of "Chi's Sweet Home," I thought I'd do a little First Impression review on the new volume of Chi's Sweet Home.

Chi's Sweet Home is the third season to the series, entitled "Chi's Grand Adventure," (If my translation skills are correct), which are based off of the 22nd and 23rd volumes of the manga adaption. Also, being 8 years since the anime adaption had began, and the series being so popular in general, the 3rd season in the series has a new look: CGi.

I had fallen in love with Chi's Sweet Home just this past summer. I kept seeing gifs of this cute gray-and-white tabby online, and I really wanted to know where it was from. So basically, I searched up one of the pictures, found the link to the anime, and started binge-watching. I ended up finishing it, along with its sequel; "Chi's New Adress." And when I got done with it, I extremely loved it. And just like any other series that I finish watching, I rate it and go to the next anime. And at the same time, I find even more new animes to add to my Plan-to-Watch list. So since the new season is rolling around, I decided to look through some of the fall anime that's coming up. And then I saw it. Chi's Sweet Home. 2016. And then I screamed: "OMG THERE'S ANOTHER SEASON OF CHI'S SWEET HOME." And so I waited impatiently for two whole weeks to wait for the first episode to come out. And so, that day has finally come, and I'm here to tell you about my first impressions of the show.

Anyways, on with the review!

WARNING! THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!

Story: 9/10

Ok, so we're starting off on a high note. The third season starts off about Chi having a dream about his mother, and his original family that he had lost at the beginning of the series. She then wakes up and is greeted by Youhei, her best friend. As the two play with Youhei's now spilled bouncy balls, the Yamada parents are disscussing something top-secret that consisted of Chi as the topic. Meanwhile, focusing back on Youhei and Chi, the boy had gotten upset because Chi made him lose his favorite bouncy ball. This had gotten Chi mad, and she stormed off towards the park. This, is where they bring back Blackie, Chi's friend from the old apartment. After playing the whole day through, Blackie insisted that Chi go home, but she refused. But, as soon as Blackie mentioned food, Chi retreated back home, where she was soon suprised by her 1-month anniversery with the Yamadas. Wait-wait-wait-wait-wait-wait. Only  a month? I swear watching this series up to the fullest date makes me feel as if it has NOT been just one month. It feels as if its been way longer than a month. like 8 months, a year even. Also, I'd like to note that when the Yamadas moved, they need to let the landlady at least 2-3 months in advance to let her know that you're moving. So yeah, it's realistically more than a month. But anyways, I've gotten a pretty good impression on the storyboard so far, and it deserves a 9/10

Art: 10/10

Like I mentioned before, the third season of Chi's Sweet Home got a CGi, or a Computer generated animation. Unlike the first two seasons, the new season has 3D animation, giving it a new feel. The voice actors to the characters are the same, bringing back memories of the past seasons, but the new art style is really different and new compared to the old one. At first, when I watched the trailer, I was very suprised to see the new style. It just looked so... Different... But I don't know, when I watched the first episode, I still loved it. And so far I've really gotten attached to art style. I mean, I don't see  anything wrong with the animation or the art style so far, so to be honest, I think it deserves a 10. Sure, I miss the old 2D art stlye and animation, but it's not like this new CGi isn't bad at all. It's actually pretty interesting, addicting really. It's an art style that is definetley worth a try for a classic anime like Chi. But again, I'm giving it a 10/10 so far, because I'm really enjoying it so far.

Sound: 10/10

So just like the old stuff, Chi's soundtrack is exactly the same. The voice actors, the OST, mostly everything you hear in this new season brings back nostalgia from when you started the anime. Just like the first two seasons, I still love the Soundtrack to the new season of Chi's Sweet Home. The only difference the past seasons and this one would be the theme song. Just like the art style, the theme song has been completely reborn, with a brand new and fresh feel to it. To be honest, the new theme song is okay, since it's nothing lke the older theme songs, but who knows, it might grow on me like the animation. But yeah, a 10/10 goes to the Sound, even though I'm not on the theme song so far.

Characters: 10/10

I don't think I would've continued watching over 208 epiosdes if I didn't like the characters. Like, I'm pretty sure there are people out there that think the characters in Chi's Sweet Home are annoying, but to be honest, I really like them. I think a lot of them are really cute, and you can't help but just go "Aww,' at them... Especially Chi. I mean, she's a kitten that has her thoughts, and how she always gets in trouble, and doesn't understand why. And along the way, she makes friends and she grows to love her family to the fullest. And it's not like I like JUST Chi, I love all of the characters in Chi's Sweet Home. I mean, there's nothing really about them that I dislike, so 10/10 for the Characters so far.

General/Enjoyment: 10/10

What do you expect, I love Chi's Sweet Home. The past two seasons were amazing, and I couldn't wait to see the third season. It took a few days after it premiered in Japan, but I was tingling so much when the first episode that was subbed was posted on Kissanime. Like seriously, the glass bookcase beside me was vibrating. I was that excited. And lemme say this, I was very pleased to see that they've also extended the episode time length from 3 to 12 minutes. It's way longer than before, and it gives you a lot to forward to for the next episode. Though the only bad thing about the series, and this goes for every anime you get really hyped for mind you, is that it feels like forever to you to see the next episode of the series. And it's one of those feelings that makes you want to scream: "Wait that's it?! Isn't there supposed to be more than just that?!" And you get really impatient to see the next episode. But anyways, for the first episode, I really am loving it so far, and I can't wait to see more. If you haven't already, make sure you do check out the series, it's really good, and I love it to this very point.

Anyways, hope you enjoyed, and hope to see you all next time!
