Title: Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light (Hotarubi no Mori e)
Owner: Yuki Midorikawa
Genre: Drama, romance, fantasy
Rating: 6.5/10
Summary:
One day, six-year-old Hotaru Takegawa becomes lost in a forest filled with mountain spirits and yōkai, and is completely alone. That is, until a human-like, mask-wearing entity named Gin finds her and tells her that if he is touched by a human, he will fade. After they become brief friends, Gin guides Hotaru out of the mountain forest and back to her uncle's house, whom she was staying with.
She promises to come back and meet him again, and eventually Hotaru meets him every summer between school months. They become close friends despite being unable to touch each other, and begin to slowly harbor feelings for one another.
But what will happen as Hotaru grows older every year, and slowly nears Gin's age?
Opinion:
All in all, I think this was a pretty adorable movie, and a cute film to watch when I was bored. It wasn't anything special, but it was adequate. My only main criticism is that we knew what was going to happen in the end!
I won't say what happens in the end, but we should all know what happens.
I'm finding that writing a chapter for this to be a bit of a task, because there wasn't much to say about it. I mean, it was actually very entertaining and I did enjoy it, but nothing...stood out. When I say, "stood out," I mean like the Ryuko and Nui surprise makeout-session in Kill la Kill. Nothing of that calibur, of course, I'm just saying that nothing came out and sucker punched me like that, or made me gasp or fall out of my wheely-chair.
(Yes, that is what I actually call my chair.)
Another thing I'm really refraining from doing is once again, going all ADHD and straying from the whole point of this chapter.
Okay, I think I've thought of something. You know what is kind of sad? I always get super bored during the summer, despite camping for majority of the time and being outdoors most of the time. It's just that when I am in the city, all the movies coming to theaters suddenly become shitty and there's nothing worthwhile other than watching two drops of sweat race down your leg.
Keeping that image in mind that you could've gone your whole life without, I kind of wished something like what happens to Hotaru would happen to me. Just to get lost one day and find an amazing person that no one should know about. Then I would love summer, and for lack of better word, find another cool reason to live.
Another thing I noted while writing that was this:
Hotaru bears a little resemblance to me. We both have short brown hair that goes slightly past our chins, and when she was a child she had cropped bangs above her eyes--so did I. When she was fifteen or whatever age she is most of the movie, she tucks her longer bangs to the side--so do I. Finally, we both have the somewhat similar eyes. Hotaru's are blue, and mine are...
Gray-blue-green with hazel-gold speckles in the middle. They're blue when you shine a light in them, okay?!
...But they wrote hazel on my license.
Carrying on, the person I watched this with was my sister, who has been diagnosed with a severe case of Butterfingeritis, by me. As soon as we saw Gin, we both kind of gave each other a pervy look, and I swear this is what happened.
"Ten bucks says he's hot."
"Twenty says he'll take off his mask at the very end."
"Fifteen says he won't take it off at all."
"You're on."
"Prepare to shell out fifteen bucks."
"We'll see about that."
"...He's still hot."
That is exactly what happened. It was fun until I had to give fifteen bucks to my sister when she said he'd take off his mask. Why the hell did I not think Gin would take off his mask?! How high was I?
So this will kind of be the end of this chapter, but first I have to address the winner of last chapter's contest. The question was: What would my Void be?
Cue the drumroll!
And the winner was...Naruto_girl! Thank you so much for an incredibly accurate Void that I could very well have inside me right now; and to everyone who participated. This is what she said:
"I think your void would be a pen, not just any pen but like the one in Percy Jackson where when you press the bottom you would get this amazing sword and you could write with it too, regular writing and future writing. Yeah, with that pen of yours, you can literally write out your future. You close your eyes, think of the time you want to predict (let's say you have a math test timmorrow and the answers are usually given the next day so you would think in your head "I want to see what will be my future in math class in two days" BOOM! You got your answers.) and your hand will automatically start writing on its own. (Bonus feature) you could also write in thr air, or what ever you draw will come to life. Of course if you draw a chair it will not come to life but it will simply form from the air and land on the ground and will look like a normal chair.( the ones you can sit on) but if you draw a dog, it will come to life! If you dump it with water it will turn into a piece of paper with a dog or anything else you drew on it and fall gently to the floor. (this will come in handy if your little bro/sis or big bro/sis touches it, draws a man-eating monster and come to life) I hope you like it!"

That concludes this chapter, but I have one last thing to say.
This is totally unrelated, but how many of you like Liam Neeson? I'm just wondering, because one of my friends said they didn't know him and shit went down. I LOVE Liam Neeson. He is like the white Morgan Freeman to me. Anyways, I'd just like you to comment whether or not you like him alongside your review of this chapter, or if you have even heard of him.
Vote if you'd like to meet a random hot guy in a forest. I know I would!
