I sighed as my hand covered my mouth after yawning, my thoughts drifting off to the lovely thoughts of sleep, causing my attention to drift away from Iruka Sensei who was still teaching.
'Too bad I don't have time for that sleep ah how I'd love to just lay out on the grass and take a nap...'
I was rudely snapped out of my thoughts by Iruka Sensei slamming his hands down on his desk making me jump.

"Now then (Y/n), would you like to tell me what you were spacing off for?"
I blinked a few times trying to think of an excuse, dang it I can't think of anything! With all the training I've been doing then on top of that studying I just haven't had the time to sleep.
"I apologize Iruka Sensei, I was thinking about a question that I didn't have an answer to yet"

His face didn't look too impressed as he raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms as he looked at me.
"Well then, what was this unanswered question?"
I could normally function just fine under quick thinking circumstances but being sleep deprived really made an impact I suppose. While I was struggling I failed to notice my cute black pinaple haired friend was actually awake for once and narrowing his eyes as he watched me...or rather observed.

"If the human mind can process things just well with sleep why can't it function without sleep? And that brings another question to mind, why do we get so much dang homework? With the amount we get I estimate we students lose a good two hours due to homework stressing our minds. It's lame and tiring"
Shikamaru hummed slightly as he listened to you blurt the questions that had supposedly been on your thoughts; it might not be obvious to anyone else but he knew that wasn't actually what was on your mind. It made him curious on what you had actually spaced out about.

"...Fine, just pay attention from now on okay? And ah...I'll think about lessening the homework a bit"
All of the class minus Sakura (Ms. Smarty pants over there) cheered happily. Smiling slightly I started paying attention to Iruka Sensei's lecture before Shikamaru threw a crumpled up paperball my way, it hit me before I cpuld catch it. Quickly opening it without letting Iruka see I read it over once then again as I had skipped over a few words
What's up with you? You've been off for this whole week, you okay? Ya know we can always talk (Y/n)

I smiled as I wrote on a small piece of paper in reply to him and threw it into his lap. Watching as he opened it I couldn't help but yawn yet again...damn this was getting lame real fast.

//Shikamaru's Pov\\

What's with (Y/n)? She's been off all week, her reaction time is slower than normal, she's not making as many sarcastic comments, she's not paying attention like usual yet she's still answering the questions with ease when she is paying attention...that's the tenth time she's yawned in the past five minutes- shit I get why she's not herself now; damn it I'm a moron for not seeing it sooner. As I'm thinking I feel a ball of paper land in my lap

I'm fine don't worry about me Shika, I haven't been eating breakfast cuz I keep waking up late is all. Guess breakfast really is the most important meal of the day huh?

After my eyes finished reading the note they twitched with annoyance, was she so damn tired she couldn't come up with a better excuse than that? What a bother, guess I'll have talk to her after class if she's doing what I think she is.

I stood up from my desk after being woken up by Choji, thanking him after some grumbling I was going to start leaving the class to go find (Y/n) but; there she was, her arms stretched out in front of her on her desk and her head on her arms, her soft looking (h/l) (h/c) hair sprawled and sticking up in places. Sighing I walked over to her and was about to gently shake her when she slightly tilted her head so her hair wasn't in her eyes. The tone of her voice was a bit sleepy but it wasn't at the same time.
"Im awake don't worry, I just don't wanna move for a minute..."

Scratching the back of my neck I looked at her eyes sighing, they were duller than normal and were half closed as if half asleep.
"You look exhausted (n/n), when's the last time you slept?"
(Y/n) sat up and then got up from her seat at a somewhat natural yet slow pace and she smiled awkwardly,
"What are you talking about Shika? I told you in my note I've been sleeping in for the past week so last night obviously...weeeeell anyway I have some training to do catch ya later!"
I groaned in frustration as she ran off towards the training grounds, this troublesome girl is just ...well troublesome...but still- I can't help but like her. I chuckled smiling to myself slightly in amusment, man my parents would fall over if they knew how much I've been thinking of her.

Finally shrugging my throughts off I headed out from the academy and started heading off to the training grounds, going faster than normal just so I could get there a litrle before (Y/n) could. She needed sleep and she obviously hadn't been getting much, I could tell when she was laying her head on her desk she had almost fallen asleep before she heard me approaching. Finding a tree to hide in I positioned myself and waited for her to come right to me, and I have a feeling she wasn't going to find me in her state.

Soon enough short stuff came stumbling to the training grounds and started making hand signs but before she could finish I smirked as she stopped in her tracks and she let out a whimper thanks to my Shadow Possession Jutsu.
"Sorry (n/n), buuuut look I can tell you've been studying your ass off and training as well it seems, now normally I'd be just fine with this; however you haven't been sleeping because of this huh?"

Jumping down to her I let her move just enough to see me and speak,
"Shika..I'm fine really, I swea-"
Pressing a finger to her lips I smirked a bit more,
"What a drag, I really didn't wanna have to force you to sleep ya know, I just wanted to take a nap"
She raised an eyebrow confused before I threw her over my shoulder carefully and started heading towards my house.

"S-Shika! Let me go!"
There's no way I'd try this if she were at full strength, I would of been a dead man...but luckily enough she's sleep deprived so this works in my favor just a bit. Opening the door to the house I carried her upstairs to my room and set her on the bed. And just like I thought she tried escaping so I had to use my Shadow Possession Jutsu to get her to lay still,
"(Y/n) just sleep damn it"
She pouted as she looked at me,
"But trai-"
I flopped down on the bed next to her and used her stomach as a pillow as I hummed relaxing yet still holding her in the Jutsu.

"Hm...you seem quiet now all of a sudden...say if I tell you something I haven't told anybody else will ya take a nap at least?"
I could hear her let out a small hum of thought before she sighed.

"Alright fine, release the Jutsu and I swear I'll take a nap"
I chuckled and released the Jutsu before I looked at her by tilting my head back a slight bit,
"I like this girl named (Y/n) she's stubborn as hell, likes being sarcastic, oh and she seems to have an issue sleeping..."
I watched as her face turned a deep crimson and she chuckled slightly as she sputtered,
"W-well I'm glad I-I'm not caught in your Jutsu anymore"
I smirked slightly and raised an eyebrow.

"Why's that?"
"Because I like you too..."
She leaned down to catch a kiss but I smirked more and for the last time today and for a while ...maybe I used my Shadow Possession on her and placed my thumb under her chin kissing her first then letting her go.
"Sorry but I can't let you make the first move ya workaholic...now take a nap okay?"
(Y/n) smiled and nodded before she wrapped her arms around me while I was still usong her stomach as a pillow and closed her eyes. It took her about a minute if that to fall asleep, it was a good thing tomorrow was Saturday, I'll let the cute workaholic sleep...slowly I drifted off with her.

Shikaku's Pov

Walking upstairs to let Shikamaru know I'm home I went to open his bedroom door only to find his best friend (Y/n) with her arms wrappes around him and Shikamaru with his arms arouns her as well as using her stomach as a pillow. I couldn't believe it, rubbing my eyes a few times before I finally let put a silent chuckle and closed the door heading downstairs. I can't believe my lazy son finally has someone special to him heh, he scored a cute one I'll give him that.
