Your pov

You were at the beach, enjoying the hot sun with some of your buddies. "Hey (Y/N)! We're going in the water, wanna join?" You heard your friend shout from in front of you. "Nah I'm good!" You yelled back as you sat down and just enjoyed the sun. All of a sudden you heard some girls laughing and looked over to your left to see four girls surrounding a mermaid sat in a wheelchair. Being the nosy person you were, you listened in to what the girls were saying.

"I bet you think you're so elegant just because you're a mermaid! You're a freak!"

"Go somewhere else!"

They continued to throw insults at the poor girl as you sighed in annoyance. People like that still exist I guess... You got up from your position and headed towards the group of girls. "OI!" They all became silent as they turned around. "I can't even believe people like you still exist. She is no different from you and I think myself along with the rest of the population on this beach would appreciate if you got your discriminatory asses of this beach." You left them speechless as they quietly shuffled off.

"Thank you so much." The mermaid said to you with a smile.

Why the hell do I this sort of royalty vibe from her? You questioned in your mind as you spoke to her.

"It's no problem really! Those girls were just awful! My name is (Y/N) (Y/L/N)."

"My name is  Meroune Lorelei but I'm usually just referred to as Mero." She held out her hand and you shook it. "Mero!" You saw a guy running up to you from the other side of the beach. "Ah, you must be her host family." You said as he stopped in front of you both. "Yes. I'm Kimihito." He introduced himself whilst trying to catch his breath. "It's nice to meet you. Mero just had a few girls being horrible so I decided to step in."

After that, you, Mero and Kimihito decided to walk back up to where you were relaxing before and talk for a bit. "So wait a minute...You like the idea of being in a tragic love?" You said in disbelief. "Yes! The idea of a tragic romance makes my heart sing!" The mermaid sang. Kimihito had went to grab some water for you all and so it was just you and her. "Wait you're into girls?" You questioned. "Yes. I don't think that gender really matters." She smiled.

"I don't really get the whole tragic love thing but--" She cut you off with an excited squeak. "How romantic would it be for us to have a forbidden relationship! You, me and my beloved kimihito!" You looked at her with wide eyes. What the hell? Is she being serious?

You looked at her sparkling eyes and looked away with a blush. I can't deny that she is cute though...

Over the next two weeks, you got to know the mermaid and all her friends as well as Kimihito. You had taken her to the aquarium with Kimihito and had watched as she swam around in front of the audience and the employees that praised her as if she was a queen. You couldn't help but blush when you saw her . She always looks incredibly cute and royal. She was especially beautiful when she was swimming. But as much as you were growing a little crush for her, you couldn't get used to the whole 'I love tragic love'.

She'd ask everyday if you'd reconsider having a forbidden relationship with her and of course you'd decline. You just weren't into heartbreak love. You really enjoyed hanging out with her and she was actually quite a kind girl.

Currently she was going on quite a bit of a rant about how a forbidden relationship would be the best. "Mero! I'm sorry..." You raised your voice and she turned silent. "I'm sorry... you're amazing and kind and sweet but I'm just not into heartbreak..."

And with them words, you left. You really wanted to look back but you couldn't. It would hurt to much.

You couldn't sleep that night. You had to many things on your mind. In the morning when you were on your way to the shops, you walked past the aquarium and couldn't help but run in. You rushed towards the place were you watched Mero swim.

You arrived there and the room was empty. What did I expect...why would she be here. "(Y/N)..." Your body went as stiff as a rock as you heard that very calming voice. You turned around and saw that pink hair you had become so familiar with.

"Mero..."

"(Y/N) I need to tell you that after yesterday, I thought about what you had said. And I was actually going to look for you when I saw you run into this aquarium."

You looked away with a blush. "Well this is where I watched you swim...I guess I just wished you were here."

Her face went red and she wheeled herself closer. "I thought long and hard and I want to have a happy ending with you."

You gasped and smiled. "Mero I'm so glad. I really like you and I want to give this relationship a go." In a quick instant, Mero had pulled you down into a soft kiss.

You kissed back and when you parted, you couldn't help but pull her into an embrace. "Let's go back to my home (Y/N). You can watch me swim. I'm sure we can sort out a swim suit for you."

"That sounds perfect." You smiled and half an hour later you were in her pool in Kimihitos house, watching her swim.
"You're so beautiful when you swim."

Sorry if that wasn't as good as you expected >~< I really hope that everyone enjoyed it anyway ^^
