Story Title: Sweets that taste like caramel.

Kenpachi was not the type to take shit from anyone. He was strong, threatening and no one wanted to get on his bad side.

You were strong too, but certainly not as strong as him. You were an easier target for the bigots of the soul society.

You and Kenpachi had been dating for a year and by now you would think you'd be used to the homophobic comments but alas you were still affected by them. Most people were very accepting of your sexuality and didn't let it affect their opinion on you however, a small minority of people were not as accepting. 

"Kenpachi, where is Yachiru?" You asked, walking into his office with a large pile of paperwork in your arms. "Playing around the Seireitei probably." He chuckled, yawning as he sat up. "I promised her I was going to take her to buy some of those sweets we tried the other day." You plonked the papers down onto the table. "Remember, the ones that tasted like caramel?" Out of nowhere, your body was swung round and there stood your boyfriend.

"Oh I remember. Wasn't as good as this though." He smirked and kissed you roughly. You were lost in that kiss until you heard a noise from the door and saw a squad member staring uncomfortably. "C-Captain you said you wanted us to all train but you never showed up so I assumed you were having your usual nap and I came to get you..." His words faded away as Kenpachi approached him slowly, a slight glare in his eyes.

You could see the sweat dripping down the guys face. Kenpachi never liked it when someone interrupted you and him. "I'll be right there." He growled, a hellish grin on his face. The guy nodded quickly and hurried away.

"I'm heading that way anyway so I'll walk with you."

You both made yourself presentable and began walking to the training grounds. You were sad when you had to go your separate ways but you had to find Yachiru. She'd never find the way back on her own! As you were leaving, you heard a familiar voice. It was that guy from before! He sounded hushed which perked your interest so you listened in.

"They were kissing. It's not right man. How are we supposed to admire our captain when he's like that!?" You felt the anger boil in your stomach but chose to walk away instead. This wasn't worth your breath. 

"I'd love to see Zaraki sent to the worst part of the Ryukongai to rot and die." 

Okay, now it was worth your breath. You quickly turned the corner and approached them with anger in your steps. "Wanna say that again shitstick?" You put your hand on your sword. "What are you going to do? There's three of us and only one of you. You don't have your boyfriend to protect you. I'm not going to lose my job because of you!"

"Remember who you're talking to!" You shouted but your hands were shaking. Why do I have to go through this...

"What's going on (Y/N)?" Yachiru questioned from your side. "Woah when did you get there!?" You jumped, shocked but also happy to see her. "Are these men bothering you (Y/N)?" She looked at them, still smiling but you could tell there was more behind that smile. "Yachiru it's fine. Please stay back." You put your hand in front of her protectively.  

The three men looked more reluctant to attack now since Yachiru had shown up. "What, you're getting nervous now after threatening me and insulting my relationship!?" You screamed, catching the attention of the rest of the squad in the other room. A group of people began crowding behind you at the doorway to see what was happening. 

One of those people just so happened to be Kenpachi.

You slowly approached the men and swung your fist at the first guy's face. He had no time to dodge and fell to the ground. The other two stepped back, fear flashing in their eyes. "Let this be a lesson to all of you here! This squad will not tolerate bigotry and discrimination. I like sucking dick and if you have an issue with that, you are not welcome in this squad!" 

"Well said (Y/N)!" You heard that gruff voice you loved so much billow out from the crowd. "I am gay. Does that really affect my sword when I slash my enemies? Does that deduct from my power? Does it diminish my right to be in this position? No!" He pointed his sword at the three men. "We do not have space in this squad for people like you." 

After the commotion had ended, the squad was instructed to continue their training with Ikkaku and Yumichika instructing them. Kenpachi gave you his signature grin and a kiss on the cheek as he left with you and Yachiru to go get some sweets. Sweets that tasted like caramel.
