-------------------------------------------------
It was a bright sunny Friday, and students of Raimon were rushing out of the classrooms as soon as the bell rang for lunch. There were few who stayed in their own classroom, and one of those people was none other than the certain blue-eyed blonde who was staring outside with a thoughtful look.
"You sure you'll be fine by just watching here?"
Mimi tore her gaze away from the soccer field to look at her classmate that called her attention. "Of course," she answered with a smile. Her classmate rose a brow at her, as if to tell her 'are you sure about that?'. Mimi was quick and immediately picked up his implications.
"Really, I am. Besides, I have things to study."
Her classmate pretended to give in to her explanation. "All right, if you say so," he replied with a shrug. "Though it never ceases to amaze me; a braniac like you, who prefers indoors, friends with athletes like them who're practically married to the field. Don't take me wrongly though, you found good people," he told her. Mimi nodded in agreement, looking out to the field once again.
"They're the ones who changed my whole life up to this point," she stated. She then frowned. "Though, I won't have much time with them..."
That's right. Mimi, along with most of the original soccer club members, were now seniors and were a month away from graduation. The past years had been a huge change for Mimi. Being more free after living with the Kidou household, she learned to be herself more whether it be at home or outside. She had also grown closer to her father, who, despite his business, always found the time to be with her with every chance possible.
"Isn't that the more reason to go there, Mimi?"
Mimi turned around to find the source of a new voice. "Kidou?" she wondered aloud. The said boy was in his soccer uniform, and a ball was tucked under his arm. "Fubuki's visiting Inazuma Town for the week. The others hasn't been informed yet, and right now he's on his way here at Raimon," he informed. A smile crept on his face when he saw the surprised look on Mimi's face.
"All the way from Hokkaido?!" the girl gasped. The last time he came to Inazuma Town was after they fought against Aliea Academy. That was quite some time ago.
"Yep. He's looking forward to see you."
Kidou turned on his heel, preparing to head back to the field and rejoin his friends. "You should join him too, you know," Mimi's classmate advised, crossing his arms as he looked at the girl that watched Kidou leave the classroom. He then glanced over to the field and saw that the soccer team was taking a water break.
"Can't keep your prince charming waiting, no?" he teased.
The statement was more than enough to tint Mimi's cheeks with a light shade of pink. "I think it'd be fun to see Endou's reaction when he sees him," Mimi stated, smiling cheekily as an attempt to brush off her tiny blush. "Heck, I'd want to see everyone's reactions up close." She took a book and rushed out of the classroom before her classmate could reply to her. Her classmate had his mouth open to speak, but seeing that his friend was gone in an instant he resided with a sigh of amusement.
-------------------------------------------------
"I'm back."
"Kidou! Mimi!"
Kidou raised a brow when he heard the other name, so he turned around and saw Mimi running up to them, which made him smile a little. "I knew you'd come," he thought as Mimi stopped beside him. He and Mimi had grown used to each other's company that they're practically siblings, and Haruna felt the same for her as well.
"Hello guys, I hope you don't mind me staying here with you for a while," Mimi spoke up while waving her free hand.
"Of course you can!" Endou exclaimed. "You're welcome anytime!"
"Thank you!"
The boys ran back to the field while Mimi sat on the bench beside the managers. "It's not like you to suddenly come here to the soccer field, Mimi," Aki pointed out curiously. The looks on Haruna and Natsumi's face showed that they were in agreement to her. "I know," Mimi sighed. She looked down on the chemistry book that she brought with her, wondering why time was so cruel to move so fast so suddenly.
"But it's almost time for us to graduate, and the thought that we'll all be apart from each other hurts me. I don't want to imagine when that time comes, so I want to spend every moment with all of you while I still can," she explained almost bitterly.
The girls couldn't help but stare at her. The thought was painful yes, and it'd be a lie if they said that they wouldn't cry when that time comes. "You know, just because you're graduating doesn't mean it's the last goodbye," Haruna spoke up. "That's right! We can always have reunions and hang out on the weekends. Knowing these boys, they'd get together with every chance possible to play soccer," Aki added.
"And if you ever want a proper reunion, you can always hit me up to make the preparations," Natsumi offered.
Hearing those supportive words made Mimi crack a smile on her face and left a little tear out the side of her eye. "You guys..." she trailed off. She never understood how everyone in the soccer team always knew what to say and what to tell her to make her feel better; was it psychic powers? Hypnosis? Or was it simply just the ability to be united with the feelings of one another?
"You know, I'll never understand how- oof!"
Mimi was cut off when a soft object suddenly covered her eyes, leaving her in the sight of pitch black. She could hear the sound of giggles and surprises, so she gently pulled the blind away from her eyes to see what was happening. "A scarf?" she questioned mentally. She leaned back a bit and tilted her head, the back of her head unintentionally touching the stomach of whoever appeared behind her. Once she identified who they were, her eyes were as wide as saucers.
"No way..."
"Hello, Mimi."
"Fubuki!"
Everyone suddenly stopped just as Gouenji kicked the ball, causing it to hit Endou square in the face. The goalie didn't seem to mind though as he too was shocked to see a certain Hokkaido boy standing in the grounds of Raimon with his scarf around a surprised Mimi's face. Shirou gave his signature close-eyed smile as everyone wasted no time in rushing over to him.
"We didn't expect you to be here today!" Endou pointed out in a happy tune.
"I didn't expect me to be here too," Shirou joked, earning a couple of giggles.
Shirou let his scarf fall on Mimi's shoulders as he went over the bench to get closer to the others. "What brings you here, Fubuki?" Aki was the first to ask. Shirou shrugged. "I just wanted to pay a visit during my short vacation," he answered honestly. Everyone in Raimon exchanged looks; vacation?
"There's a local holiday over at Hokkaido. I only had school last Monday and yesterday," the grey-haired boy answered to their mutual question. "Lucky," Endou envied, his lips pulled to a frown. "I want a three day holiday too! Then I can play soccer for as long as I want!" The others chuckled at his reaction.
"School ends in a month, genius. Then you can play soccer forever," Mimi jested. "That is, of you won't get tired of playing 24/7."
"Haven't you known Endou enough, Mimi?" Natsumi said with the same humor, "He never gets tired of soccer!"
"That's true! He's practically married to soccer balls!" Aki joined in.
As they laughed, Endou spoke up. "That's not true!" he said. Kazemaru rolled his eyes as he clapped Endou's back. "You're a soccer freak more than any of us here, Captain," he pointed out jokingly. "That's not what I meant!" Endou replied. "I believe in monogamy, so I'll only marry one soccer ball!"
Everyone anime fell, except for Shirou and Endou himself. "He doesn't get it," Mimi groaned as she sat up. "Get what?" Endou asked innocently. Aki sighed and told him to disregard everything. "Less of you, more of Fubuki!" she stated cheerily. She turned to the said boy, who was simply smiling and standing around.
"I honestly have no idea what else to do other than to visit," Shirou admitted sheepishly.
"Well you have something to do now!"
Endou enthusiastically rose up the soccer ball that previously hit his face. Shirou's smile widened a bit, his eyes gleaming with eagerness as he looked at the soccer ball. "I'll go change then," he told them. Before he was about to head out he stopped himself and faced the team once again.
"Umm, where is the changing room?" he asked.
"Mimi can take you to the clubhouse," Aki answered quickly.
The said girl was about to protest when Natsumi bumped in. "And while you're there you can go fetch the boys' towels. After all, you're still a manager of the soccer club so you should help out every once in a while," the brunette explained. Mimi closed her mouth and formed a pout at the three other girls.
"I can help you carry those," Shirou spoke up.
"Come on you two, don't keep them waiting!"
Before Mimi could even speak Aki ushered them to go. "I guess I shouldn't keep you waiting," Mimi stated quietly as she and Shirou fast-walked over to the shack. "After all, you must be excited to play with Kidou and the others again," she added. Shirou hummed in agreement, taking off his bag to get ready to change.
Once they were at the shack, Mimi opened the door to let Shirou inside. "Not coming?" Shirou asked teasingly, causing Mimi's face to turn to a bright red in embarrassment. "H-hell no!" Mimi stuttered, clearly flustered. "I'm getting the towels after you change."
Shirou snickered in amusement, and without warning he pulled Mimi inside. "What the-?!" Mimi exclaimed as the door closed behind her. "Shirou! Don't do that!" she half-screamed, whacking the called boy who was laughing heartily at her reaction. She quickly stopped however once she realized what she said and immediately pulled away from Shirou.
"Fubuki, I'm sorry, I-"
"It's alright, Mimi," Shirou chuckled, waving it off. "Besides, you've been calling me that before. What changed?"
"I dunno, business manners I guess."
"Huh."
As silence fell, Mimi sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "Well, while you got me trapped here I might as well get the towels then," she humored. "And no peeping tom," Shirou warned her jokingly. Mimi rolled her eyes at him as she moved over to the drawers. "As if there's something to see from underneath that shirt," she jested. While she carefully grabbed the folded towels one by one, Shirou spoke from behind her.
"Yeah there is. A human," the boy answered.
"Really? I could've sworn you were made out of ice!" Mimi gasped dramatically.
Shirou chuckled in response as he put on his Raimon soccer uniform. "It's nice to see you more confident than before," he stated, balling up his other shirt and stuffing it in his bag. Mimi then slowly stopped her task, a frown appearing on her face. "Is... is it a good thing?" she managed to ask, suddenly feeling a little shy.
"Of course! It means that you're not scared to show the world who you really are. I read somewhere that people like that tend to be happier in life."
Mimi hummed thoughtfully. "Huh. I guess I can say it's true..." she trailed off, closing the cabinet with her free hand. After putting on his bag, Shirou walked over to Mimi and took half of the towels she had in hand; which was a plentiful since the whole stack almost covered a half of the girl's face.
"Thanks-"
Mimi suddenly felt at unease when she noticed that Shirou wasn't moving back, but instead was leaning a little closer to her. "You know..." Shirou trailed off. He looked at Mimi with a soft expression, his grey eyes wandering as he searched for the words to say. "I-is there something you want to tell me, Fubuki?" Mimi asked, fighting the blood rising up to her cheeks; she was losing fast. Shirou hummed thoughtfully, slowly leaning a little more until he was awfully close to Mimi's face.
"I think..."
"Think wh-what?"
"I think I like it better when you called me Shirou."
Shirou pulled away, a playful smirk drawn on his face once he saw Mimi's reddened face. He had to resist the urge to laugh when Mimi's gape shifted to a scowl of annoyance. "Not funny," Mimi grumbled, marching over to the door. Shirou let out a quiet chuckle through his smile as he followed the girl.
"It was for me," he quipped.
Once they reached the door, Shirou politely opened it and let Mimi pass first before closing it behind him. They headed back to the field as fast as they can, just in time to see that the team was already in the fields playing. "I bet a ramen that you can't cut in and steal the ball," Mimi challenged out of the blue. Shirou quirked a brow at her, accompanied by a thoughtful hum.
"Let's see about that."
Shirou sped towards the field, forgetting to set down the towels by the bench. Before the girls could call out to him he was zooming towards Someoka, who was heading towards Endou's goal with the ball in possession. Shirou wasted no second, throwing the towels high in the air as he slid to steal the ball, throwing Someoka off by surprise.
Shirou stood up, leaping once and collected the towels in his hands while the ball was clipped on one foot. Mimi stood still, her mouth hanging in shock as Shirou sent her his iconic close-eyed grin. The other girls applauded at the grey-haired boy's performance while Someoka approached him and clapped his back.
"Show off," the pink-haired boy huffed, but wore a smile anyways.
-------------------------------------------------
After the lunch practice, Shirou headed off to wander around Inazuma Town while the Raimon students went back to resume classes. The day went by pretty fast, and soon, the bell finally rung for dismissal. Aki and Mimi had the same last class, so they decided to walk together. "After all that excitement, I can't wait to head to the riverbank!," Aki exclaimed, and Mimi nodded in agreement. After watching the boys play, they all wanted to keep the game on going.
"They'll play again this afternoon then we'll all head to Rairaiken for a celebration!"
"What are we celebrating for?" Mimi asked, oblivious.
"The return of Prince Charming for his Princess!" Aki teased.
Mimi sent a half-lidded stare at her friend, who had her hands clasped together as she theatrically batted her eyes. She smirked however, when an idea came to her mind. "Oh you mean Ichinose's coming over too?" she shot back without missing a beat. Her smirk widened when Aki tensed up in surprise.
"What? No!"
"Psh, suuuure," Mimi rolled her eyes. "You're totally not dying to meet him again."
"I miss him, sure, but not that way!"
"Keep lying to yourself, Princess."
"Speak for yourself."
It was Aki's turn to turn the tables. Mimi's eyes widened for a moment before she recovered just as quick. "What are you talking about?" the blonde asked, pretending not to know. "Oh come on, Mimi!" Aki sighed. "It's so obvious! I'd need a welding mask everytime you two talk to each other because the ice is thawing and sparks are flying!" Mimi subtly looked away in an attempt to hide her blush.
"You're exaggerating," she mumbled.
"Yeah, sure. This is exaggerating."
Aki flipped the long part of Shirou's scarf, which was still wrapped around Mimi's neck. "I-I forgot to return it to him earlier, okay?" Mimi defended. Aki rolled her eyes the same way Mimi did moments ago. "Psh, suuuuure," she said, matching the same sarcasm Mimi used at her earlier. "Giving you his valuable scarf is totally a friend thing." Mimi was about to say something to counter, when another voice joined in.
"There you two are!"
Mimi and Aki turned their heads to see Natsumi and Haruna waiting by the gates. "What took you two so long? Everyone else went to Rairaiken already!" Haruna told them excitedly. The two newcomers glanced at each other confusedly. "They wanted to play, but Endou ended up wanting to know more about Fubuki and the others after the FFI," Natsumi informed, the usual small smile on her face.
"The others?" Aki echoed.
"It was a last minute change of plans."
Mimi and Aki looked at each other simultaneously. Well that's something new.
-------------------------------------------------
When the girls arrived at Rairaiken, it was definitely a pleasant surprise to see a certain lavender-haired girl waiting by the entrance of the restaurant. "Fuyuka! It's nice to see you again," Aki greeted. Fuyuka gave them a warm smile. "Hello, I was just waiting for you," she replied with her soft voice. "It was getting loud inside, so I went out for a little breather."
Indeed, the girls could hear the bustling noise from outside.
"It can't be that bad," Mimi assumed. "...Right?"
"There's one way to find out."
They slid the door open, and they were instantly greeted by chaos in the jam-packed restaurant.
Touko and Rika were on the tables chanting like crazy, Kogure was trying to best Shourin on who could reach the ceiling first, Tsunami was trying to take a glass of milk from Fudou with a bottle of hot sauce in one hand, Kidou was fixing Midorikawa's hair into dreadlocks, Kazemaru, Endou, and Tachimukai were stuffing their faces with dumplings, Tobitaka and Toramaru were at the kitchen trapped in a heated cooking competition, Kabeyama and Hijikata were having an arm wrestling, and Kageno and Shishindo were in a staring competition (don't ask how that's possible).
Overall, it was mayhem.
Meanwhile Hibiki and a few lucky individuals were staying at a corner, watching the catastrophe ensue.
"What on earth..." Haruna trailed off.
"Umm, they might've been more than just loud," Fuyuka sighed.
The girls made their way to Hibiki, who was trying to block out the mayhem happening inside his restaurant by reading a newspaper. "What's going on here?" Natsumi asked them. She had to raise her voice as the noise inside was almost unbearable. "Rika made a new game called 'Dare or Dare' while you weren't here," Hiroto explained. "It got out of hand real quick."
"That we can see," Natsumi stated.
"THERE YOU ARE!"
Fuyuka gulped nervously once Rika called their attention. The blue-haired female hopped off the table and made her way to them, a huge grin plastered on her face. "Just in time! We ran out of people to play Dare or Dare!" she told them enthusiastically. The girls looked at each other nervously.
"Why not let these boys play instead?"
Mimi motioned to the group of boys, who shifted uneasily. "Darling and the others are being killjoys," Rika pouted. "They don't want to play." Being the smart girl that she was, Mimi smirked once a light bulb lit up.
"Oh, they will."
-------------------------------------------------
"I can't believe we got talked into this."
After a long period of persuasion, Mimi was finally able to save the girls from playing Dare or Dare and instead convinced the boys to join. Rika was proud of this, obvious to as how she happily trotted away into the hellstorm locked arms with Ichinose while the others trailed behind.
Mimi patted her hands, a proud smirk drawn to her face as she and the rest of the girls watched the boys go. "Thank god the valedictorian came to save us!" Aki cheered with theatrical drama. She threw her arms around Mimi, who inaudibly chuckled under her breath. "Salutatorian, actually," Mimi corrected in sour humor.
"Kidou snagged the title away from me, sadly."
She and the others laughed along, ignoring Tsunami screaming as he ran after Fudou, who dashed out of the restaurant. "Well too bad I'm too good," Kidou teased. He and Midorikawa were done with their dare, so they chilled at the safe zone, aka the corner where the girls were. The latter sat silently, staring at himself in the mirror, not knowing what to make of his new look.
"Naaaaah," Mimi denied. "I was just being merciful."
Kidou quirked a brow, unconvinced by the reasoning. "Top one or not, what really matters is what's next to follow," Natsumi butted in. She lowered her head, dodging a dumpling that flew over her. "Do you two have any plans for senior high?" she asked the school's two top notches.
"Medicine," Mimi answered.
"ABM," Kidou supplied.
Natsumi hummed, taking in their answers. "Time consuming, don't you think?" Haruna questioned curiously. Mimi and Kidou nodded. "It might take me forever to get a degree, but after that will all be worth the effort," Mimi explained happily. "I want to help people in saving their loved ones."
A forlorn look passed in her blue eyes.
"I don't want the same thing to happen to anyone else... ever again."
A comforting hand suddenly made its way to Mimi's shoulder. The blonde looked up and saw a pair of reassuring grey eyes looking back at her. "Don't worry Fu--Shirou, I'm feeling a lot better about it now," she affirmed, giving a small genuine smile. Shirou smiled back in relief, but there was something else in his eyes that spoke.
"Actually, I'm initially here for that ramen you owe me."
Mimi stared at him, dumbfounded.
"What a way to kill the mood."
"You're welcome."
-------------------------------------------------
After a couple rowdy rounds of Dare or Dare, Hibiki decided to finally step up before the group of teens could destroy his precious restaurant. Everyone settled down and got themselves seated, although there wasn't really enough space for everyone to do so comfortably.
"How about we set some tables outside?" Mimi suggested.
Within a heartbeat the boys began to set up some tables just outside the restaurant. The food which Tobitaka and Toramaru fixed up was brought out as well, set right between the inside and outside Rairaiken; in other words, set by the open door. Hibiki remained in the kitchen to cook, as the current amount of food wouldn't suffice for everyone.
Happy chattering rung throughout the noisy streets, the rays of the setting sun barely visible in between the houses of Inazuma Town. Amidst the ruckus, Mimi was looking around with a smile on her face. The sight of all the friends she made throughout her junior high was really something she adored and loved to no end. It was truly a touching sight for her, with all the memories flooding into her mind; both good and bad.
"Maybe... maybe if I wasn't here, none of this would have ever happened!" And with that, Mimi took off.
...
"We'll stay here with you even until the sun sets!" The other five also voiced out their agreement, making Mimi a little flustered.
...
"So, it's that time of the year again, huh?" Gouenji spoke up, catching everyone's attention.
...
Mamoru then stood up from his seat, the usual dorky smile plastered on his face. "We'll always be there for you Mimi, right everyone?"
...
Mimi looked around the table and saw everyone's faces. Those were the very faces of who were ready to go and walk down her path with her no matter how crooked or bumpy it might be.
...
I promise to treat you the way I should've for 8 years; the way your mother would've wanted me to treat you.
It had been one wild ride for Mimi Sakura, and Senior Highschool wasn't the end of it; it wasn't the end of her book.
It was a start of a new ride; a new chapter.
For her, and for everyone she truly cared for.
-------------------------------------------------
First of all, congratulations MimiMa9 for finally finishing the rows and rows of torture called "exams". Congratulations as well in completing senior high!
I'm sorry this took way too long, and that the ending might not be your cup of tea, but the last three sentences was really meant not only for your OC but for you as well. May more blessings come your way!
