Summary:

In 2016, a meltdown of a nuclear power plant creates a big catastrophe in Tokyo. 20 years later, the city has become a ghost town due to the high levels of radiation. From that area a distress signal is received. The Self Defense forces dispatch three girls from the special unit Coppelion to search for survivors. But why aren't they wearing any protection against radiation?

Own opinion:

Coppelion is what I would describe as a beautiful anime gone straight to hell. I'm not referring to the artwork here because that's glamorous. It started out good with all the drama and stuff, but I think they really shouldn't adapt it in the first place if it would be a failure. Coppelion couldn't even attract that many people. The animation and art was good except for the adaptation. So I gave this anime a 3.5 stars over 5.
