Summary:

Anime adaptations of mobile and online games are becoming increasingly common, and Kantai Collection -Kancolle- may be the king of them all, currently reigning in Japan as the most popular anything ever. The plot of the game is relatively thin, so a lot of it will have to be made from whole cloth for the anime. Here’s what they have to start with: In an alternative world, humans have lost control of the seas to an enigmatic menace they call the ‘deep sea fleet’. The only ones who can fight them are the kan-musume, the ‘ship girls’. As their name implies, they are girls who are also ships, somehow possessed by the spirits of World War II vessels. Vessels like the destroyer Fubuki (Uesaka Sumire). A fresh recruit at a naval base, Fubuki must learn to fit in with a fleet comprised entirely of young girls and, eventually, go to war.

Own opinion:

Well I don’t know if I will watch this anime but since it is requested by my friends I was “forced” to review this. That was what I thought when I haven’t check out this anime but when I finally decided to check it out, it seems interesting. This anime maybe targeted male audiences because its about moe girls piloting a ship. But Moe warships aren’t new; before Kantai Collection -Kancolle- we had Aoki Hagene no Arpeggio, which was more or less the same thing with more sci-fi. Though we do have Kusakawa Keizo, best known as the Nanoha director, on board, and he should have plenty of experience pushing cute girls through over-the-top fight scenes. Kancolle is worth a look, if only to see what all the fuss is about.
